  • Will it come off if you just heat it with a torch a bit?

  • Is the bike that you took off the derailer cable bikes a tokyobike? The headbadge looks like it's a tokyobike

  • How do you cut off the shift levers?

Cause I've seen one with screws.

  • what about doin this to aluminum

  • @thienly

    please don't do that!

  • @ShiftlessBastards then how do you remove em for aluminum?? thanks

  • Can't believe they posted this. Great way to ruin any frame!!!!

  • @ianjk you're talking about me like I'm not even in the room!!!

    How embarrassing for you!

We posted this because we are aware people take braze-on's off frames, and it's better to do it properly then hack sawing in to the tubing and compromising the structural integrity of it.

  • @ShiftlessBastards Not embarrassing at all. The bond between braze-on and tube is pretty damn strong, hammering can deform/weaken the tube. Even if the frame isn't perfect, why not take an extra 10 seconds to cut/file/sand or hit with heat (carefully) instead of possibly compromising your frame? I'm not a pro framebuilder, but build custom bicycles and motorcycles and have seen/made enough mistakes to know that the easiest way (brute force) isn't always the best. Just my $.02

  • @ianjk awesome! Thanks, man.

  • what about bottle cage bosses?

  • Heat em up with a torch and pull them off. Then melt the little bit of left over brass and wire brush it off. Smooth as ever.

  • I usually heat the braze ons up with a torch very carefully then knock them off, come off a little more clean.

  • @ELgrandeNegro what torch do you use? regular propane torch? or acetylene?

    thanks

  • clean metal primer + ironlak matador = amazing paint job

just got done with fork couldnt be happier for my first time painting a frame.

but i do have a question can a flat screwdriver work as a chisel ?

  • yeee!

  • answer your questions?
