I'd like to know where exactly in the Foufs the show took place? Don't mean to sound like a noob, but is is like on the second story, where the small stage is and there's the "dance" floor?
Oui moi non plus. A chaque foie que j'y vais j'me dit toujours: Dire que Kurt Cobain est monté sur ce stage la. J`crois qu`on devrait nomer officiellement le stage des foufs comme un lieux sacré. RIP Kurt Cobain.
Was there for sure - I remember I had a new boyfriend in tow who really wanted to see this show. And it really was awesome - not very many people there but Nirvana rocked out - I still think it was one of the best I've seen
Me neither punk. I was at mCgill then, and couldn't find anybody to go with me...Loser I am. Then they blew up and I was kicking myself. Wasn't this a show with Sonic Youth?
Thats actually right except for the wannabe part. Kurt, like Jimi (spell things correctly man!) were song writers.
They both had the same aspirations and both hated being celebrity. They just wanted to use their unique musical skills to present an abstract based view of what hey see in the world.
If I remember correctly he was drinking a lot of red wine but it could have been some cocktail. He was complaining of a sore throat and was quite high on Montreal's fine H in that day and age. He normally liquored up his throat before shows and usually had a good rasp going on. The soundman did a very good job of mixing the band which really helps how someone like Kurt sounds.
The Melvins did open, they had just played an incredible show in a fully packed Foufounes with Helmet headlining only a couple weeks before the Nirvana gig. Melvins were a really good show all by themselves and made a hell of an opening act.
In some videos such as his 1992 MTV awards perfomance he looks young (In fact he resembles his famous 7 year-old photo.) But here he looks like he's in his mid to late forties. Bad shot angle for him.
I only kinda remember that awesome night...*hic!* ;)

Nice one Rob !
I mixed monitors at this show .
They had their own engineer mixing in front .
They sounded great , even if the room was half empty .
Great performance .

Sonic Youth played the Foufounes shortly after Nirvana, something like a month or 2 later, I worked that show too.
The Melvins opened for this Nirvana tour. Melvins & Nirvana in such an intimate venue was a very good show for the price, cheap beer specials too!
