I've owned over 15 cycles in the last 20 years of all makes and models. For example owned a 2007 1200 "50th anniversary" custom. Bought it new, rode it for 4000 miles, and sold it for $2k more than I bought it for. Harley ALWAYS HOLDS ITS VALUE.... I've owned Hondas in the past and wish I could say the same for quality and re-sale value.
My brother doesn't understand why I really don't care that my VTX 1800 isn't as LOUD as his Harley. I just smile when I blow him away on the road with a twist of the throttle. Oh and by the way, 'metric' is a superior measuring system too.

@syncstation i sold my 1800 and got a newer sporty 1200. both had the same mods(k&n,vance%hines,and power commander) maybe its the harley being 200 plus pounds lighter, hell maybe 300 pounds lighter; but the sporty seems to me to be faster; up to 100 anyway. i did feel more comfortable over 100 on the 1800, once again probably the weight. i have owned many motorcycles and now that i have a harley, i think im in love.

@IceTTom VTX1800 weighs 718lbs dry, FXDX weighs 612lbs dry. The Japs did, unfortunately. In the mid 80's the Japs realized that H-D was turning americans onto VTwin cruisers instead of the cool 4cyl cruisers. The Japs built what sold, VTwin cruisers but for the most part they actually updated their cruisers with technology throughout the years. They didn't take designs exactly but more in the way of styling.
