We need a 1,000,000 +​ women, man, and child March on Washington D.C. to emphazise to Congress the need to pass this law, and make it the law of the land. Please, respond to this request. Dave

Obama, 111 Congress passed the recent Health Care Reform Act. An excellent first step. The next step should be the enactment into Law by the congress of the Stem Cell Research Enactment Act of 2007. into Law. A question for Obama to the Congress.. Pass into law and insist that Congress pass that Act of 2007 mentioned above. Yes or No?

The reason is simple. If Obama is notre-elected in 2012, the New Republican President would reverse what President Obama achieved in 2009.

It was my desire that President Barack Obama and the U.S.A. citizen address the question to have the 111 Congress pass into law and insist that Congress pass that Act of 2007.

The reason is simple. Should President Obama not be re-elected in 2012, the new Republican President would reverse what President Obama achieved in 2009.

Dr. Melton stated that differnetiated Embryonic Stem Cell Lines are curative to all cell malfunctions. These unique cells has taken a non-fuctioning Pancreas in Mice and reform a new fuctioning Pancreas. Ann, Are you a Scientist/Researcher? The problem is that the 400,000 In-vitro fertilized eggs which are going to thrown away like medical waste could be utilized to perform therapies which are curative for all types of chronic conditions and illnesses. Please respond.

hES are NOT curative to all cell malfunctions. Differentiated, these tissues are exactly like they came from another (probably unmatched) donor and require a lifetime of immunosupressing drugs (and still form tumors). Source your pancreas statement. I'm a researcher. Of 400,000 embryos (not eggs) 90% are for future family building, under 2% donated for research. Most 'thrown away' are covered by new NIH standards required by Bush's EO 13435.

Embryonic will NOT be used in therapies. They either form tumors and/or are rejected by the subject (particularly when the subject is of the same species as that from which the ES came). They are a quality control nightmare, prohibative to insurance coverage.

ClinicalTrials*dot*gov is recruiting for diabetes studies using your own stem cells. 85% of subjects so far are off insulin. Don't hold your breath for reparative therapies using embryonic. Tumor formation, rejection, and inability to create beta-cells or respond properly to sugar levels make embryonic unlikely to help. BTW: CLINTON & OBAMA voted AGAINST S.30, which would have EXPANDed federal FUNDING for hES research.

(ECSTL)is CURATIVE. Doug Melton, PH.D.of Harvard University found the way to differentiate the pre-cancerous embryonic stem cells was acieved in a petre dish. Use the(NIH)for credability. The problem these researches face is that there is true interference from Political and Religious elements. I agree entirely with you that Tumor formation, rejection will occur with undiferenated (ECSCL) however, Dr. Melton states they solve this delemma. Please reply

Undifferentiated hES form tumors. Differentiated hES are rejected as if they were mature tissue from any other individual. (Thus the push for SCNT.) Most hES experiments use animals 'immune' to rejection. Also, very difficult to get pure culture of differentiated tissue and any remaining hES will sitll yield tumors.

I am sorry to hear about your diabetes. You do know that great successes have been achieved using adult stem cells by places such as Cellmedicine X-Cell and Stem Cells Argentina? Embryonic stem cells are useless for Type II diabetes !
