  • ...The bourbon is a' hundred proof!!!

  • we will never see the likes of this kind of group again. they were originals.

  • Not "roisin", but "rosin" up the bow, which is an analogy to sexual friction in this case.

  • Just to clarify the lyrics: it is 'roisin the bow' not 'resin the bow'. It is an old Irish song.

  • Their only British top twenty and what a good one it is too. Great to see most of the group still alive and kicking. Always put on the DVD of 'The Last Waltz' Movie every so often. Too many people gone.

  • "hail stones beatin' on the roof, the bourbon is 100 proof..."

  • The Band, Bob Dylans former backing group and they kept up the same type of music. Absolutely brilliant!!!!!!!

  • a great song brilliantly executed, few bands would have been capable of performing this so expertly despite its apparent simplicity.these men were absolutely connected musicians

  • Just finished reading it myself. Very interesting book. It would a huge bonus if they add another chapter and update us on what he's been up to since around

  • In 1970 I heard cripple Creek on the radio . Never hearing of this group before, but liking the way the cover looked plus the name The Band sounded pretty cool .I was in 7th grade , money was tight , what a great investment .It's dog eat dog and cat eat mouse , you can Rag Mama Rag all over my house .After 1 week I went back to Korvettes and bought Big Pink . Got each lp as it was released and then had to duplicate on cd in the 80's .Truly one of my top 5 groups of all-time !

  • @maxpowercardz The last Waltz!!! Getting redy to read Levons book, :Wheels on fire". Have heard its fantastic. Will post back as soon as done. Merry Christmas All!

  • @maxpowercardz : Oh my God, Korvettes. I remember going to E.J. Korvettes in Philly back in the 1960s with my Mom.

  • @johncduff A truly great song. And I used to ride my bike up Easton Rd to Korvettes back in the day.

  • I use to listen to this song in my truck and my 9 year old daughter thought I was nuts. haha...But she's 12 now and I took her to see Levon Helm when he came to Vancouver, and she ended up liking it..although unfortunately Levon's voice was shot. But Elvis Costello showed up and belted out a few tunes.

Anyway, I love these guys..their music is ageless.

  • @TPG3471 Levon s voice is not what it was.... After throat cancer, i think he does quite well considering.

  • I'm one of two people at my High School that listens to The Band. Such a shame, they dont know what they are missing

  • @Hulkk123 I think I'm the only one in my highschool, everybody else listens to (c)rap.

  • @needianame I know how you feel man, im 16, a folk lover/ classic music lover and it gets near torture seeing everyone else listening to as you said (c)rap

we need a new folk revival!

  • @Hulkk123 I was probably 1 of 10 who listened to them when I was in school too. Nuttin wrong with that. We were the cool people and wasnt many of us, LOL So rock on my young friend! Glad to know there are some kewl people out there ! Merry Christmas!

  • I have to admit that despite loving this song, I am a bit confused about what it means. I don't know why, it seems clearly sexual, but still.

  • @MrStartingGun they used to write songs called Rags, country Joe and the Fish had a song called "Feel like I'm fixin' to die Rag."Like in Ragtime,Got it?Get it.Good! P.S. to wingatewolf,They died.I think that the sunflower is still playing, but I would check.bye bye
