Robben Ford Tellin it like it is on GTR..@cucavsqz..You're a bit late on the rules of Robben.Don't watch it if you don't like it. The quality isn't terrible .I can hear it clearly..
No disrespect to Robben for not diggin on the Bootleg stuff but it just shows how great he is in any light. As far as Buddy, killer player, not at all like RF. No need to compare, they both give us the joy we love in their musical delivery..
Robben Ford is awesome as hell but I tell you what, he does NOT like people recording him on their crappy little phones, etc. and posting him on You Tube. It's no wonder, crappy recording and audio, then you get boneheads comparing him to other guitarists. If you've been to enough of his concerts, you'll know that he despises people recording him on their phones and cameras.
Look at Buddy whittington. That guy, imho, is waaaay better than robben and he's got a voice like a black pitmaster singing the love to his bbq! BTW. Ofcourse he's from texas
Talk about KICK ASS!!! Gotta check out the new You Tube Video: Robben Ford - Victor Feldman's Generation Band. AMAZING!!! Video of Robben playing with Victor in the 1980.
Well put... I made a list of pros and cons about my playing a few years back. After I jotted down the "pros" I started on the "cons". And all I could come up with was "You're not Robben Ford". I hung that up in my practice area and it reminds me that, yes, we ALL have something to offer.
What clip are YOU commenting on? The very last description that comes to mind for this particular clip is "stiff". ..."Hot", "Burnin'", "Smokin'", "Loose", "Virtuosic", "Rhythmically hip", OK, but "Stiff"? That's just sour grapes.
@1artgtr sorry, no, that's a Sakashta NeuPaul. Details at Robben's site. (I was at the next concert and saw it close-up) Taku Sakashta was building amazing stuff, but in a great tragedy got killed by and escaping criminal methhead in California only a few months ago. Just happened to run into his shop, robbed him and shot him. I happened to meet him once at the Newport guitar show in Miami about three years ago, had a guitar there with the most beautiful headstock I have ever seen.
That's a pair of Fender deluxe reverbs on the left, same amps E.J. currently using live btw, MusicMan RD112 on the right. Was at this show and the sound was incredible, as always! This was at the Holiday Inn banquet hall in Cocoa FL. opening act for Johnny Winter, what a treat!
Whats wrong with Musicman amps..they are fine amps and in case you hadn't noticed he's using two Fenders as well.FYI it's been pretty well documented at this stage that Dumble bought a heap of parts out of the Musicman amp factory when it closed down including transformers and used them in making his original ODS amps..Fuchs also started out converting musicman amps into dumble clones so their must be something to it..80% of tone is in the players fingers and note choices not in a guitar or amp.
A person should look like one sex or the other not both at the same time. He looks like a lactating hermaphrodite without the damp nipple patches.....is that a good thing?
?? Hope you don't mind me jumping into this debate, but I actually enjoy Creed a lot (well, their only 3 really amazing songs - With Arms Wide Open, My Sacrifice and One Last Breath) - great fingerpicking parts by Tremonti and some amazing drop-D riffage. But I love Robben Ford much more (I have a couple of his DVDs, including instructionals) and I play Robben Ford's songs with my band. He is one of the best jazz and blues blends, period. I'm going to see him live (again) next week!
You should consider staying away from your 'crack whores' stash, it's affecting your spelling and train of thought; Or don't, natural selection is a wonderful thing.

Sakashta, you can find out more at robben's website. I saw it up close after a show in W Palm Beach around this time. also met the builder at the Newport show in Miami, had a gtr there with the nicest headstock I've ever seen! and I've seen thousands and designed 125 or so myself.
I was a fan for about 10 years before I saw him at a private party in Manhattan. He was the featured band for the party, I play guitar and was talking to him a lot between songs. I will alway remember that party thanks to my brother who is friends with his wife.
True. The Dumble will not make someone without talent suddenly become talented. A man with the hands of Robben Ford can plug into anything and just sound brilliant.
for anyone that ever doubts that tone is in the hands, just take note that hear he sounds just as good here playing his fender amps as he does when he plays through his dumbles.
I agree with carpybv and if I could add that sometimes it's not so much what notes you play and/or at what speed but rather how you play them in context that reveil your personal figerprint or style.
