yes. extra ammo is an attachment. you unlock by completing the challege for FMJ (full metal jacket) rounds. i think you need like 25 kills using FMJ to unlock extra ammo..

Just to let you know, The FAL and the G3 are the same. The FAL is based off of the G3 design, only with a few minor upgrades. I may be wrong but I am pretty sure about that.
