dude i bought component splitter and double sided componet cables that doesnt have gold time at the top and when i plug every thing up i get a hd quality when record but when i play on my tv i get stupid colour like when its purple t goes to blue and when its orange it goes to red it strange is it because my double sided component cables arent gold or what plez replay

Note to others: If you are really worried about quality use a distribution amplifier instead of multiple splitters. It amplifies the signal instead of cutting it in half like a splitter does.

2 questions... I bought all the cables you mentioned, and when I try to watch, my tv has N64 quality, yet I'm recording in HD... weird, is that normal?

Also, my sound is weird aswell. Whenever there's silence, I get a very low toned buzzing noise. And when I listen to it on my headset... it's very low on left ear, but normal on right?

@SeLaw989 1. yes that is completely normal unless you buy a boosted splitter (which is a waste of money)

@SeLaw989 for $50 at radio shack you can buy a distribution amplifier instead of the splitters. it will give your tv the hd picture because with the splitter it's pretty much cutting the quality in half

With the other eyeTV models, there's an option to disable the timeshift, which let's you play on your mac without lag. Does this model have the same option?

@TehCODAddict It's not on the device itself. It's in the software. With eyeTV open, go to View--> Display Options, and then select devices, and then under encoding, there should be an option to enable timeshift. All you'd need to do is uncheck that box to play on your screen.

@TikiTillman The hauppauge only comes with software for windows computers and wont work with a mac. The only software that i know of that works with hauppauges is called ''eye-tv''. You can get it from you local apple store or purchase the software online and believe me it works great.
