@TheRAFfc Thanks for that Gracie toured the world in the war, and never got the credit she deserved, now people are reading the truth of her concerts raising vasts amounts of money, when England had nowt......
have listened to a lot of cuts... sorry, Gracie is the one... home beach... she takes me back instantly... it's like it is real... beyond the notes, folks... beyonds any notes...

A great song but I'm not sure it's suited to Gracie's voice. She was better, in my opinion, at songs where she could show her character - high energy, optimistic and resolute. This song is too 'little' for her, if you see what I mean. Of British singers, I prefer Vera Lynn's version.
PLEASE NOTE the original recording by Gracie from 1935 has now been uploaded although a bit different from this its nice to hear 2 different versions.
What a lot of hits this has had. DONT FORGET MY MANY OTHER GRACIE UPLOADS. gRACIE MADE 100S OF RECORDS. Also there are rare TV and Radio songs give them a try you might be Suprised THANKS ALL YOUTUBERS.
i am 48. i copped al jolsen, gracie fields, vera lynn and slim dusty from my mum when i was growing up. got to know all their tunes and loved them. those were the days hey?
DONT FORGET the many other Gracie songs on here, please take a look you might be suprised Gracie was diverse, and as more unknown or forgotten songs are uploaded they are worth looking at, thanks for all your comments.
Thank you all for the comments hope that Gracie brings back long happy memories, Gracie does for me with my late parents who loved her very much. I think thats why I became a fan as Gracie reminds all of so much and happier times than today. My friends all tell me their parents loved Gracie talk about an institution thanks all of you.
It was my late grandmother's favourite, she would sing this song so beautifully to us when we were children-a long time ago now.She too was a "Lancashire Lass" and worked in the mills right up to her death in 1966.Sadly those days have long gone but her memory carries on.Gracie is an angel indeed.
I wanted to share this, Gracies Decca recordings are some of her finest for sheer vocal with her voice, which had matured, and with the great Robert Farnon on many of these recordings, they are a sheer joy, hope you agree?
Thanks I am sure GRACIE THE LANCASHIRE LASSIE will never be forgotten. :)

My grandmother sang this to me as well, and after she passed at 92 last March, it puts a smile on my face. :-)
