It's not a "Wing Chun Dummy". It is a Muk Yan Jong, and is used by all southern styles of Kung Fu. It is a training apparatus developed at the southern shaolin temple (Sil Lum Pai). The mantis used in combining Tai Chi with Mantis is southern mantis.
@SijoJay the arms and leg, though positioned differently, are the same as a wing chun dummy. wing chun dummies are the ones usually seen in movies and tv shows, or at least referred to in those. so i call it a wing chun dummy.
Tai Chi Praying Mantis has kung fu and tai chi forms in it. I think this is the same form my Sifu uses...though I've only seen the first couple moves.
this is 趙竹溪傳下的太極螳螂 , though siminar but not exactly the same as "northern Praying Mantis". I think northern Praying Mantis don't have this wooden dummy practice.
My apologies master Leung, I did not read your intro. Thank you for posting these videos I am a die hard Praying Mantis fan and I think they are great! Looking forward to see more
Thank you for posting this video master CKI51. It's beautiful. I am a long time practicioner of northern Praying Mantis and I wasn't aware we had a wooden dummy set. the only thing is I couldn't see the sequences on the left hand side since your back was facing the camera. Do you think you could show us the set from the another angle? By the way your T-shirt does not say it, are you located in Hong Kong? Thank you again
would love to see the application along with the drill
