Tried to do this using a Book Pro as secondary screen to the i-Mac, and Thunderbolt, also to use Final Cut, but it was not possible in that order. Only possible with the Book as master. Seems stupid.

What year are your IMac's? I have one 'mid 2009' and one 'late 2009' and am hoping this will work with that belkin mini display port to mini display port cable, I tried it with mini display port to HDMI to mini display port to second IMac and it does not detect the second display on either. I hope it's just the cable and not that they are not compatible! Any insight would be appreciated.

Very interesting! You also mention it as an extra processing machine, do you need qmaster to take advantage of that? Or does apple somehow manage it through the display port? I doubt it, but I honestly don't know too much about this topic.

@rednes800 I'm not telling people to do this. My ideal setup would be a mac pro, 1 27" iMac, and 1 Cinema Display. Not everyone has 10K to spend like you =P I could go in the refurb store, buy 2 2009 i7 iMacs for $3600, have two killer systems , two massive displays and like I said if one is exporting I could hop on the other.

Again you misunderstood, this is a cheaper alternative and a fun video, I reiterate not everyone has 10K to blow on a setup. If you can afford it, get it by all means.

@5botball No just screens, there are possibilities of "clustering" two computers via ethernet but programs have to be written for it, and it's pretty complicated

That is pretty damn cool. I have the 24" display and a MacBook Pro, and I hate when I drag something over from the Display to the MBP because the resolution is different and I have to resize it to fit the MBP screen. But with two screen's that are the same size, it works perfectly. Great video!

I spent 7,000 Australia dollars on a 2009 Mac pro worth 10,000k AUD brand new only reason why I got 3,000 discount is because I am a ADC member that was just the 8 core mac pro alone hehe and my 30" Apple display cost $2500 Australian Dollars. so yeah it can work out expensive but the great thing is the 30" display because you can do everything on it with out having to get a second display.
