For the first half of the movie, I thought this was just the same old thing being condensed down into a smaller, easier to manage form with up-to-date graphics.

Then Ramiel returned.

My brain exploded into a fountain of overheated LCL.

Rebuild Ramiel is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in an anime. Just watch when he's busy shooting shit down and changing shapes at the speed of light and tell me thats not AWESOME =D

Even though Rebuild Ramiel has an impressive array of shapes, I must say that the original was fairly intimidating as just an octahedron. Without the scream & all the changing, he (it?) seemed so cold, & all the more scary. No real appendages to flail about, just a single drill & an insanely powerful particle beam

@JumpMax I think Ramiel was already quite cool in the Series - He(?) was my famourite angel appart from Leliel and, of course, Kaworu. They DID make him a lot more badass in Rebuild, tough. Then Again, I guess the Angels had to improve their badass-ness to keep up with Mari the Menace and the fearsome Rebuild!Shinji. He IS Gendo's son after all....

@JumpMax average? if anything ramiel was one of the most powerful angels they faced....epic AT Field, epic PARTIKLE BEEM that fired at ANYTHING remotely resembling a threat, a giant drill that could make progress even when rotating BACKWARDS (lol artists), now my sweet, sweet eva is no moar, and this generation probably doesnt even know that these rebuilds are based on something else.....so sad....
