The US used to have a strong geography curriculum until Nixon. We gave birth to intelligent enlightened youth after world war 2 and they created the peace movement supporting communistic ideals and opposing Vietnam. No longer do Americans get fed much real empowering information by public schools.
The level of ignorance shown here might be kind of understandable if the people tested were taken randomly from the street, but a university student who can't find something as large and as significant as China on a map? And Italy is the country shaped like a boot! How can anyone miss that?
Let me tell you in South America, being under development countries this is not an issue. When we are in high school we know where every country is, actually we dedicate one semester to each continent, so it is very surprising for me to see this... if they dont know where are they standing with geography, then what in the world are they teaching in schools?
I am so surprised I am sending this video to my old school so they can show students how smarter we are. (see, we even speak english!)
