The shutdown ain't hard if you've used warp 3. The application manager is meant to be open all the time like it was in warp 3. And why would you shut down anyway, while you can do ctrl alt delete and press the power button.
OS/2 is easy to shut down and I had version 3 and 4. The only problem with it is the sound card setup. Other than that it works great and I loved having PC-Dos on it also and the ability to simulate other older OS' like the Commodore 64 programs. I used OS/2 for years to get work done since back during 1992 Windows would crash too much with me losing my programs. The banks used OS/2 for years until IBM came out with a new OS.
Actually they wonded together. OS/2 was a jopint project that MS later dumped for Windows 3.0 because Intel released the 80386 CPU a year after the 80286, and Windows 3.0 was the foirst OS to fully support the '386 16-bit CPU. OS/2 was designed to utilize the virtual memory scheme of the '286. But the '286 was replaced a year later. So IBM took OS/2 and made it 32-bit native wit 16-bit support under the name Warp. NT has OS/2 technology in it because of the agreement between the 2 corps.
The OS/2 system could be shut down properly by a c-a-d - no hoops to jump through, no menus to decipher, just c-a-d and you get the message "The system is rebooting". Turn it off when it does and walk away from it.
OS/2 is still the most stable, technically advanced OS for the PC. Nothing today comes close to the power of the Workplace Shell.
Thank you. I bought OS/2 Warp 3 & Warp 4. A I signed up for IBM OS/2 Passport Advantage to get OS/2 Warp 4.52 and Lotus Smartsuite for OS/2 upgrades while in the Passport program for only 26$ a year! Great product, superb support!

There are only 2 parodies because the last parody destroyed the OS.
