I used to not particularly care for the Beach Boys version of this song either. Then one day I was sprawled out sunning myself at Redondo Beach when it came through my headset. It was a beautiful day in Southern California and I associate this song now with feeling that sun all the way down to my bones. It was beautiful! :)

You know, the sad thing about Marilyn Monroe is that people failed to realize the beauty she had on the inside, not just outside. I bet all she wanted towards the end of her life was to be just plain smart nice girl Norma Jean and not Marilyn Monroe, a vacuous product of the Hollywood factory. This is most likely what caused her to commit suicide.
