That's so funny that the Kia comes with a Infinity Sound System while Infinity renters and owners complain about Infinity having a limited sound system. I've personally been in a G37 and I myself am not impressed. I usually go with more money is better, but the Kia Optima may be what I call, " A real deal".

The controls are nice and sophisticated looking while still looking sporty. The interior is of high quality, something you might see in a European car like BMW or Audi. This car blows away any car within its price range. Nothing at all compairs... What seriously? A Hyundai Sonata? LOL! The turbo owns the WRX, (A car in my childish haste purchased prior to the Optima. I sold the WRX and bought this car instead when I found out about it) The acceleration is smooth, handling very sporty. The insides do not feel like cheap plastic...

To be honest this sound system is below average, the navigation features are years behind and for the added premium of this system you would be much better suited to save your money and by an aftermarket unit that actually is worth a damn. I would give the navigation/sound unit a d+ tops.
@jackler1 at the end of the video the guy says that their suggesting that they do the whole "surround" thing with the kias. the car in this vid is probably the only one with that particular feature. as for your own optima, do you have the infinity system? and how is the rest of the car?

The sound is very good, the sub works wonders to give a rich sound although you will get an annoying rattle every once in a while especially if you have an announcer with that just right frequency voice. It is the head unit that leaves a lot to be desired. I seems cobble together software wise and is not very intuitive. The voice command section is horrible. To give an example. I just got rid of a truck with ford sync. (see next post)..

If there was more than one entry I would say "call waxman cell" and it would call you on your cell number. On the KIA, I push the talk button, and it asks me what I want, I tell it "call name" it then asks me to say the name, (continued on next post)

Coming from an 2010 F150 seats not very comfortable compared to the Ford or my Grand Prix prior to it. Would I recommend the car, absolutely, it is fun to drive and looks IMO better than anything else in the midsize category and its price. It's just a shame that they didn't do there homework on the head unit. Pass on it and buy aftermarket. Remember: factory is 4000 upgrade, you can do better.
@jackler1 he clearly says that just stereo comes, but in his demo he is testing it out with people and getting their opinions and all it is really is just a software upgrade, all speakers stay the same.
but i also agree with what you say aftermarket gives you a huge variety of high end speakers so you can get the exact sound that you want. You don't have to please anyone else but yourself. Thats what i'd do but the demo was pretty cool wish i was actually there to experience it.
@macmiller63 Infinity is made by Harmon Kardon who have been in the industry for years before Bose, The sound quality i know between a Harmon and a Bose home system is no contest. I prefer Harmon audio any day over Bose. But that's not to say Bose are not good, because they are.

According to Infinity's Press Release on Sep 20, 2010 (Harman's Automotve division), the system DOES have 12 speakers in 8 locations. Seems that some folks don't know what "co-axial" speakers are....

@OptimaDriver Ford pulls the same stuff. Like in my Flex, they say there are 12 speakers but there are 10 speakers in 10 locations and they count the 2 amps as speakers.
It's actually an 8 speaker system by Infinity. 4 speakers in the doors (1 in each door), 2 tweeters on the dash, 1 speaker in the center of the dash, and 1 sub woofer on the rear deck. The output is 530 watts.
well all honesty its hard to really say how it sounds considering we're not in the car. also i like to point out on using sandstorm.... good choice to test the bass with.
