@Namemoon...yes, that is something for sure. I never meant to imply anything derogatory about him at all, I just think that goal was an own goal. I've watched it many, many times from way better viewpoints than this video.

"Big Ron" was the arguably the greatest striker at his peak. Unfortunately, injury cut his career short much like Van Basten. I only rate Gerd Muller and Romario higher because of their scoring prowess and longevity....talking pure strikers here, not all around.

This should be titled "Ronaldo's 14 World Cup Goals".....everyone knows that one goal was an own goal, I still can't believe FIFA gave him credit for that goal, it's ridiculous.

Don't get me wrong, I love Ronaldo. He was arguably the greatest of all strikers in his prime. His pace was simply devastating! He possessed an awesome long range shot and his dribbling was just mesmerizing at times.

p.s.- I read in «FranceFootball» that "big Ron" won 9 "Man of the Match" awards in Fifa WCups: 3x in 98, 4x in 02, and 2x in 06.

good point man, 13 goals in 6 games is sick!!!...but you also have to take in considerations that the deffenders back then were not as physical as they are now, but it's hard to argue against 13 goals in 6 games, as much as i love ronaldo

There is a difference between highest total and highest average

Ronaldo holds the title for the former category with 15goals, Just Fontaine the latter with 2.16goals/match

The statistics speak for itself, you cannot argue against it

yeah, there are other factors that go into arguing against it though...but he should be considered the best with that goal/match ratio...Ronaldo is somewhere in that group for sure thouugh, and not many players can say that.
