I wish football was still as innocent today as it was in 1964.
The Kop are still capable of making melodic music like this, but there's an apathy to the stand now. Big European nights bring the sound back, but today's premier league matches are a bit flat. Time to start singing. No shouting. The pool fans can be really powerful. Just takes effort. Come on lads, get the stand signing properly again!!!! YNWA
@kennybam89 Anyone who had a heart, a hit for Cilla Black, that really was the era of the Mersey sound, although the Dionne warwick version is better in my opinion
One of the best days of my life , i was 12 and in the stands with me dad .
The gates were closed for hours before the game and the kop sang for thier own entertainment and 'cos they knew we were going to win .Arsenal were blown away this day .They played a fair bit of Cilla because she was from lpool but also because there were a lot of high notes which the crowd might have difficulty reaching .
Blame Shanks for the fanaticism of those days ,he whipped them up into it by his own fanatacism
if only the kop was still eletric like it was then as shankly once said we play for the people of liverpool these days most of the fans are woolybacks who havent got the same passion as a scouser at the mach thats why we want our kop back and keep the land red Y.N.W.A JFT96
@RED9BASTION It's worse than season ticket holders being from St Helens now lad, last time I sat in the Kop was against Newcastle when we won 3 - 1. To my left was my mate I went with, but behind we was two Scandinavians and to my right a variety of people from the Middle East. They're going to the wrong people.
i was there , we had recently been promoted from 2nd division and had nt won the league for 15 years (living memory). The gates were closed maybe 90 min before the start , the loudspeaker played mostly liverpool-artiste numbers to entertain them . it was shanklys' team , we knew we were going to win ,there was great optimism and a happy go lucky atmosphere.
Lawrence saved a penalty at a crucial moment , before we blew Arsenal away .
