oh yea a thick glass holds heat better. With mine I used red silicone high temp gasket maker holds up to 600 f. what you do is place a heavy bead all around the top of your oven, then place a strip of paper on top the perimeter of the bead of silicone, then place your glass lid on top of that and give it a little press down, now you have a level seal. Wait until the silicone is completely dry like 6 hours, then peal off the paper it comes off pretty easy, but work at it slowly.
