"I didn't decide to run for president to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president ... In truth, I'd had the ambition for a long time."
- John McCain (from his autobiography)
your vote is your power. you can vote for judgment and character or you can use your vote to feed an old man's ego.
Im SOOO PISSED, MCCAIN IS OUT THERE THROWING LIES ABOUT OBAMA AND DEFENDING THEM. SADLY, ITS WORKING.
But forget that, Why the hell isn't the obama campaign throwing a Nuclear Response to John McCain's bullshit. His campaign has said that they don't care what the media say;s about thier ads, that they are campaining for the win. In that case, If obama can't throw something back they will indeed win.
If Obama is elected and he's able to get his agenda passed our country will never recover. He will sell out his own friends for a vote. He will ignore the voice of the people and just tell you want to think. He's sold out all of his past associations that got him here. He thinks government should take care of everyone. Just look at his actions, he's given less than 3% to charities over the past 5yrs. He wants to use YOUR money to help, not his own. DO NOT VOTE FOR THIS MAN.
Great job Obama! Keep things classy, while telling it like it is.
No need for blatant lies and smear ads like Mcsame's camp. The people of America are waking up, and they are beginning to see McCain and Palin for what they really are.
Another false and misleading ad! Tell us what you will DO OBama, and stop misrepresenting John McCain. Lobbyist is not a dirty word. Lobbyist simply represent groups of people in Washington.
sorry dude, but you havent been paying attention to mccains adds... at least obamas ads are grounded in truth
mccain lies about obamas tax plans, the lipstick remarks ( WHICH HE HIMSELF MADE ABOUT HILLARY) and about sex eds for kids (COMPLETLEY FALSE.... OBAMA DIDNT EVEN VOTE FOR IT)
Facts are not misleading half-truths are, did you see any half-truths?
Lobbying is bribery. It serves no purpose at all. Representation is done with people not money. The people in politics make the laws and that's the only reason it's legal.
Oh yeah. I remember when my job was outsourced to India because Bush/McCain gave my company tax breaks to set up overseas offices. My family wrote to the corporate lobbyists to thank them.
It's not meant for TV, it's 60 seconds. TV spots are always 30. There's another, more traditional ad about the lobbyist connections, though, that is on TV.
McCain's choice has been greeted as a cynical political ploy, a depressing return to the culture wars and damaging to efforts to broaden the evangelical dialogue
Well, this is cute. In fact it's just silly, and there's too much reading. Lots of people simply won't wade through all that text.
The Obama campaign needs to spell out in SIMPLE language the difference between his tax plan and McCain's. For instance: Obama wants to undo the massive tax cuts Bush wrote in for the rich, the cuts McCain himself opposed in 2002. McCain wants more of the same.
Find a film of McCain denouncing the tax cuts. And use voice-overs, NOT lots of text.
What is Senator John McCain going to do for veterans when he becomes POTUS? Is he going to treat them the same way he does as senator? No thanks, I'll pass on the McBush/Pitbull ticket. No Way, McCain 08.
HarshPorkChop - Everyone wants to keep the money they earn with hard work, innovation and intelligence. But to quote George Carlin, "The game has been rigged." The "rich" in this country - Keep their money made Above the Board... but there has to be alternatives (tax incentives, tariffs, honest and fair regulations) to reward these people for SHARING their wealth with those who are outside the system. There has to be a better way than allowing those in power to just syphon their wealth away.
I wish the Obama campaign would start running ads showing McCain saying how much he was for the war (long before the surge), saying how we need to invade Iraq and how he said it would be a 'short' war and how it was over after the "Mission Accomplished" debacle. Also, let's reintroduce America to the Keating Five, shall we? The ads can be devastating without a single lie spoken. McCain has written the material for you guys -- why not use it?
At face value it sounds like Mccain made something out of himself...
quick factcheck
Mccain's dad, a navy general, helped him into navy-school, where he ended at the rock bottom of his class.. As a pilot, he skipped reading the flight manuals and wrecked 3 planes.. Imagine the cost.
At age 43, McCain dumped his disabled wife and 2 kids, to web a 24-yr old heiress, who had a drugabuse problem (she stole drugs from a charity she was workng for..).
I didn't like this video. It's obviously made by a different team than the usual folks and it doesn't really fit with the rest.
What's true is that McCain has been better at convincing the media that he's a maverick than other Republicans, but his campaign for the past several months has been a lot of nonsense.
Whoever made this ad should be working for McCain. It doesn't quite cohere.
mcsame and painlin are a bunch of liars. i was independent now i know who im voting for. "i said thanks but no thanks to the bridge to no where" LIE! she was for it! I sold the plane on ebay. Anyone seen the polls lately? Obama already lost his once insurmountable lead over McCain and the gap is widening every day.
Looks like we'll have 4 more years of McSame simply because the sight of a moderately attractive woman makes people forget all the problems brought to you by the last 8 years of Republican rule in Washington.
McCain may know nothing about running the country, but he certainly knows how to take advantage of a good VP pick.
America elected bush and gave the Democrats gave him a half trillion dollars to start his presidency with. He blew it and 3 Trillion on Iraq. The next President is going to have to at least reduce the debt. McCain/Palin is not going to do that. They will get us further in debt by trying to find the Rabbit hole where the terrorsists are lurking. A better idea? Lets get on with our lives and just kill the terrorists when they poke their heads out.
I really want Obama to win, but as an 'ad' this doesn't work. They are trying to convey far too much detailed information in a short space of time. The average dumb American voter doesn't want their TV time to feel like homework - they'll just mentally switch off.
Ads should be punchy and to the point. Obama needs a much better ad agency who actually gets how to get through to the average voter. The people who would appreciate this ad are already voting Obama/Biden.

I get it. I really do. But dear God, what is this? Seriously, who put this together?!
There's nothing in this web-ad that isn't true, and that's loads better than what McCain can claim. But who's running the messaging guys over there? This is hokey and completely uninspiring. It feels like someone is running a version of the 4-corners offense over there.
I'm ready for the change. Obama '08 and all. But save this stuff for...I don't even know what. It's not making your case at all.
I like this. I think for many right wingers to really "get it", pre-school level is about right.
Oh, and rickvh, there are plenty of places on the web you can find information about what Obama is really going to do. And he talks about it all the time.
For a man talking about the working class protector he sure doesn't have any clue about what a working man is like. If I was a self described elitest the first thing I would do is fool the fools and pretend to care about the little people as long as nobody ever questioned it.
Seriously, this ad looked like it was made in a pre-school. In case you didnt notice, the more of the same slogan should be changed because everyone knows its change/reform.
Quit being little crybaby hippies and tell us what Obama is really going to do if you want people to vote.
what the hell are you talking about? McCain is "more of the same" - if you want change or reform, he is not the candidate for you...
what's so hard to understand about that?
crybaby hippies? Obama has outlined his plans many times - if you can't look past his party affiliation to acknowledge that, it's your own problem. Go ahead & be ignorant and uninformed - Only know that's what the rethugs want.
What is McCain specifically going to do? Other than continue the same policies as G.W. ?
"Quit being little crybaby hippies and tell us what Obama is really going to do if you want people to vote."
Sharing the details of his plans is all he and his campaign have been doing for weeks. Where have you been? This is part of a fresh offensive against John McCain, on the issues.
And you can't really say that when John McCain says NOTHING about what his plans are for education, the war, the economy or health care, and spends his time and his media budget doing nothing but smearing.
people like you want a reason to not vote for Mr. Obama and since people like you don't listen to what he has to say no matter how many specifics he gives you, it's no use. You must be old and out of touch like McPalin Bush if you're STILL talking about hippies.
ok. This is what Obama will do, in 500 characters: Make college affordable with a $4000/year tuition credit. Close achievment gap though early education. Make healthcare affordable, give 3 TIMES more tax breaks to middle class than McCain, stop spending $10billion/month in Iraq and instead invest in infrastructure and energy indipendence. He'll stop giving tax cuts to companies that ship jobs to China. Improve our military, finish the job in Afghanistan and capture Bin Laden.
Why don't you click on Barack's link and read up on his plans. Surely you love your country enough to spend a bit of time reading about what the candidates really have to offer.
Obama tells the truth, and is respectful to others. He is also very sharp, and is able to force others around him to do the same. He embodies exactly the change we need in Washington, and he is already bringing that needed to change to the campaign trail.
HAHA! Seriously? I do understand that the tax cuts should not be dealt to those on "easy street," but how do you think they got there? A large cooperation said hey, you seem like a smart guy, want to be our head adviser? Those that spent time to get the education in order to make the money most definitely deserve it.
No, HarshP, it's a vote saying that rich people should pay their fare share too. People get rich in this country because there is opportunity, an educated workforce, an infrastructure, domestic safety, etc. All of these have to be paid for. As for those who inherit their wealth (the majority) they ought to kick in too, especially in times like these.
In WWII people put up with way higher taxes, gas rationing, a draft. We won the war AND saved the economy.
The thought of McCain in office scares me... I'm just starting college and the economy needs to improve or I don't think I can afford it at this rate. :(
I like the video, I think it has a bit more of an emotional impact. I'd like to see ads on TV that hit harder on the emotional level. People respond to that. I'd like to see a campaign of "Where's John McCain?"
-where's the McCain who said he would stay honorable in his campaign? Where's the McCain who supposedly bucked his party? Where's McCain's comments on issues (too busy focusing on lipstick) etc.
Nicely done everyone! Best yet! Tells a great story and gets your point across so quickly! Keep it up!
How 'bout a tombstone with "Straight Talk Express" on it or the Straight Talk Express bus sitting in a junk yard getting rusty and dusty because it doesn't get used anymore??
lol that was great, very clever. I like Obama and he has my vote. One thing I don't like though is when you leave a text comment it has to "wait for approval" before it's allowed to be posted. Is this freedom of speach or possibly censorship because that would be troubling if it were. I wonder if this comment will be allowed to post???
Awsome, and that is the way it is, John Mcsame is more of the same, he has not stood with us, he stands with big oil and others who don't have our best interest at heart. He can't win on issues, because he has not been on the right side for years. Shame on you John Mccain, shame on you the press for not calling him on his dirty lies. Obama Biden, our only hope for a better tomorrow.

That's right! Spread the truth.
There's something called accountability. If McCain wants to complain about the "tone of the campaign", ask him to talk about the issues at hand.

Seriously, this ad looked like it was made in a pre-school. In case you didnt notice, the more of the same slogan should be changed because everyone knows its change/reform.
Quit being little crybaby hippies and tell us what Obama is really going to do if you want people to vote.
rickvh 3 years ago
what the hell are you talking about? McCain is "more of the same" - if you want change or reform, he is not the candidate for you...
what's so hard to understand about that?
crybaby hippies? Obama has outlined his plans many times - if you can't look past his party affiliation to acknowledge that, it's your own problem. Go ahead & be ignorant and uninformed - Only know that's what the rethugs want.
What is McCain specifically going to do? Other than continue the same policies as G.W. ?
foxfairandbalanced 3 years ago
Why don't you try listening to him. Why don't you go to the website? Why don't you research?
psychmaj323 3 years ago
"Quit being little crybaby hippies and tell us what Obama is really going to do if you want people to vote."
Sharing the details of his plans is all he and his campaign have been doing for weeks. Where have you been? This is part of a fresh offensive against John McCain, on the issues.
And you can't really say that when John McCain says NOTHING about what his plans are for education, the war, the economy or health care, and spends his time and his media budget doing nothing but smearing.
ibexr88 3 years ago
people like you want a reason to not vote for Mr. Obama and since people like you don't listen to what he has to say no matter how many specifics he gives you, it's no use. You must be old and out of touch like McPalin Bush if you're STILL talking about hippies.

The more of the same is what Obama camp use about McCain. Obama is for change, and eventually McCain copied that.

I say about the only time I ever heard Obama say what he was going to do for the country is when he took the nomination for presidency.
And thats pretty much the only time
Every other time its "McCain+Being Like Bush=BAD

...he said it all at the DNC...you can find it on youtube...his acceptance speech...if you're really interested...

If you truly want to know what Obama is going to do, you can easily go to his website. It has been up for over 19 months.
dluviam 3 years ago
Specific enough?
politicalfarce 3 years ago
Why don't you click on Barack's link and read up on his plans. Surely you love your country enough to spend a bit of time reading about what the candidates really have to offer.
MonsterSound 3 years ago
He has, many times. Watch some of his debates, public appearances, etc.
tealc1152 3 years ago
Have you not been listening? Why don't you listen to his speeches. He'll tell you exactly what he's going to do.
TheWayISeeIt1982 3 years ago
Obama tells the truth, and is respectful to others. He is also very sharp, and is able to force others around him to do the same. He embodies exactly the change we need in Washington, and he is already bringing that needed to change to the campaign trail.

A vote for Obama is a vote for the money that rich people should have to give to us.
HarshPorkchop 3 years ago
not even close. It's a vote to have rich people and corporations do their share of the work - and do it honestly.
I work hard for my money - why do I pay more of my money to the government than they do - and get less out of it.
Because they have the money to pay off the government.
it has to stop. McSame will not stop it.
foxfairandbalanced 3 years ago
HAHA! Seriously? I do understand that the tax cuts should not be dealt to those on "easy street," but how do you think they got there? A large cooperation said hey, you seem like a smart guy, want to be our head adviser? Those that spent time to get the education in order to make the money most definitely deserve it.
zorack34 3 years ago
No, HarshP, it's a vote saying that rich people should pay their fare share too. People get rich in this country because there is opportunity, an educated workforce, an infrastructure, domestic safety, etc. All of these have to be paid for. As for those who inherit their wealth (the majority) they ought to kick in too, especially in times like these.
In WWII people put up with way higher taxes, gas rationing, a draft. We won the war AND saved the economy.
Today's rich would rather whine.

WesMerc 3 years ago
I like the video, I think it has a bit more of an emotional impact. I'd like to see ads on TV that hit harder on the emotional level. People respond to that. I'd like to see a campaign of "Where's John McCain?"
-where's the McCain who said he would stay honorable in his campaign? Where's the McCain who supposedly bucked his party? Where's McCain's comments on issues (too busy focusing on lipstick) etc.

lol that was great, very clever.
