I like to scrub my place till it shines like a diamond before I watch these lazy slobs. All the better to feel judgmental, superior, and scornful whilst watching these freaks wallow in their own filth! That being said, I find my self mesmerised by these weirdos, and their rooms full of poop bags!
@ZeroPermission My brother in law's mother was a hoarder. Thankfully after she died, my sister who later moved into the house, cleaned the living hell out of it and it looks a lot better. It was a fire hazard and one match would have ended the entire house. This house is in the country where there's space.

I've watched Hoarders on NetFlix. I don't understand how people let 'human-waste' pile up in their house. If you have to crap in a deeper, put it in a bag and throw it out in the trash. I remember that house. Most of these houses don't even deserve to stand I would have set many of them on fire. Just disconnect the power-lines and do a controlled burn. I would knock them down. Fire is cleaner :( !

Watching Hoarders: After about a week, I started mimicking the beep, and anytime roommates say something that has value, that doesn't, I make the noise and walk away. Kathy did alright, but I do all the sounds, after watching the multiple episodes, one after another, you get really good at it. Actually, I feel very badly for the people in the show.

It's compelling, well written, insightful & factual memoir about a very complicated issue. I read it in about 6 hrs, all in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. Brain scans of hoarders show that the parts affecting memory, spatial reasoning & emotions actually work slower. U can believe what u want, but it never hurts to keep ur mind open to other perspectives/truths.

Welcome to my world, Kathy. I've been trying to clean up my mother's unbelievable hoarding house in another state 1,000 miles away while simultaneously acting as her plenary guardian and work a full time job. I've seen Hoarders and the like - they're crap. Nothing on those shows is as bad as my mothers house. The only case I've seen that's as bad is the famous Collyer Brothers. Yeah, this illness and the damage it does to families is fucking HILARIOUS.
I LOVE HER!!! She is welcome relief from the plastic sensibilities flooding our senses. Absolutely on point. When she asked if she was the only one to be fascinated with this show and the creepy soundtrack I laughed out loud.

Would you go out & carefully choose s.thing good for yourself to eat, to read, to pamper or to wear & then just drop it on the floor or o/s the door, generally w.out even taking it out of the bag? (It's not "normal"!) I don't understand what is going on in this friend's head but I am not so unkind as to think that whatever is going on is the result of her being "lazy". Mental illness manifests itself in all sorts of ways & unkindness is unhelpful.

@AnaisEngland I just finished reading (30 mins ago) "Dirty Secret" by Jessie Sholl, about her Mom's compulsive hoarding. It's compelling, well written, insightful & factual memoir about a very complicated issue. I read it in about 6 hrs, all in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. Brain scans of hoarders show that the parts affecting memory, spatial reasoning & emotions actually work slower. U can believe what u want, but it never hurts to keep ur mind open to other perspectives/truths.

That's upsetting man. I've watched the show, and it's very real and I've personally seen them. Most if not all of them undergo severe mental health issues,like anxiety and depression. They can't help it :(

Welcome to my world, Kathy. I've been trying to clean up my mother's unbelievable hoarding house in another state 1,000 miles away while simultaneously acting as her plenary guardian and work a full time job. I've seen Hoarders and the like - they're crap. Nothing on those shows is as bad as my mothers house. The only case I've seen that's as bad is the famous Collyer Brothers. Yeah, this illness and the damage it does to families is fucking HILARIOUS.

Granted some of the things she says are very out there and are seen as rude and vulgar, we as a society need to figure out when to laugh and when to take things seriously, an area in which we are severely lacking.

Kathy Griffin is the most foul mouth, disgusting no-class female on TV. Shame on CNN or Bravo for giving her air time. I will no longer watch either station until she is GONE.
