Kleibrink's flicks and close quarter stuff is just unbeatable! I'm intrigued to know why the prime type thing up close seems to work so well when you're a lefty against a righty because I do it too with a fair bit of success.
Forgive me my ignorance but I am very new to this sport, so I am not familiar with the top athletes. And even if I plunge deeply into the sport I am too distracted by nature to know who the best of the best are, once again, I apologize for my ignorance.
@joshman94 why? im just trying to make a joke. and im not saying like "hes the worst foilist in the world he sucks at fencing". it was just a joke. Im not trying to be mean in anyway
they are great shoes, only theres no tread on them so their great for fencing on metal pistes like these, but a club floor or gym floor isnt great. you slide a little and i beleive that affects your footwork. i like the d'artagnon 2s. good construction and some soft rubber and a little tread on them.
Yeah a friend has them... Our club is the biggest of the country, we have 22 Metal pistes, they're the same that were used for the Athens Olympic Games, they're kinda old and they're getting slippery... So i need shoes because i can barely stand up well in the pistes.

Ota really loves that mask cord! I'll bet after Kleibrink got too much ahead, Ota just went after the cord. Mission accomplished

such a great ending to a great match to a great Olympic event. Kleibrink and his superb flicks, Ota and his magnificent footwork timing.

Curiously Portugal is never here... Nor Spain, and what about France? I only saw Jeannet in epée... What a pity...

@ProyectMooneJazzers You're forgetting Nicolas Lopez in sabre, who also took silver in his event.

that Kleibrink is a fantastic fencer, but he is sort of scary looking lol. nothing but respect for both of the men, both are great fencers

What shoes are those at 5:22, lot of fencer have them...
Blad0506 2 years ago
They're the old Adidas Asymmetric shoes.
Widely regarded as just about the best fencing shoes ever made, unfortunately though not in production anymore.

I practice fencing since long time ago... i lost the oportunity in the 2000 when they came out...
I think these are and will be the best fencing shoes...
If i have the cance i will buy two pairs :P

And they're too expensive to be changed

Interesting to learn, never used a pair myself.
Personally, love the Adidas Feather shoes, (III or IV). The support on them is great, quite a thin sole and the grip is beyond belief.
Essentially the 2008 Adistars but for less then half the price. Bargain =)
