I want to be a Copywriter because I want to have a creative career. I just got accepted in Queens College to major in Media Studies, and what I want to know is, would a major like that be the proper credential for copywriter? I also want to be a screenwriter and that occupation is in the Media Studies major, as is an Advertising class, but I didn't see the word "Copywriter" anywhere. Please help if you can.

@NewYorkS4U copywriting is a rare job, usually because there's less than 10 in one company. Media Studies is good to have; it gives you an advantage but you need to start from the bottom in free lance and work your way up to a contract job which is even rarer.

One great aspect of being a copywriter is that it isn't as competitive as many other creative jobs. Just try hard and I'm sure you'll succeed. ;)

@ulula97 Thanks for that.It may be a rare job, but with it being non-competitive, it kinda evens out my chances in a way. I see the world as if most people just want things handed over to them, rather than earning what they want. I'm not like that. I want this job because not only do I want a creative career, but because I want people to respect what I have to bring to it, which is independent creativity. It's a rare job, but hey, I got a rare personality that would better my chances: INTJ.
