I interviewed Byron for my fanzine and the band lyrics aren't based on either Howard or Lovecraft, they're all his own creations and stuff INSPIRED by such writers. And the map is entirely his own design too, based on his antediluvian fantasy world.

Anyway, chill, even Sagoth die hards should find this vid harmlessly amusing!

Indeed the information here was quite inaccurate. The band bases their lyrics mainly on the writings of Robert E. Howard and H.P. Lovecraft. In fact, the name "Bal-Sagoth" comes from a short-story by Howard entitled "The Gods of Bal-Sagoth." The "map" presented there was not entirely an original creation by them, but refers to the geography in the pseudo-pre-historical fictional world created by Howard.

Their world is purely their own. It comes from the mind of the band's great writers and it is more influenced by Robert E. Howard's "The Gods of Bal-Sagoth" than anything.
