Exactly. When you're so involved in these developments, you often cannot discern the good ideas from the toys anymore. Most of the things shown here make shopping more complicated and inconvenient. Sometimes, the simplest things are the best... the only thing I could see facilitating things would be automatic payment, which interestingly enough is about the only thing they left out here.

no not really. u wont have to deactivate products because every single item will have separate number, even if u buy 2 same items they will have different number, which means u can easly go back to the store and continue shopping with items u alread paid and the scanner wont "beep" :) U could deactivate if u want to sell the item to other person and want to use your own EPC (generated by RFID system) number.

@StrangeWizzard Yeah, that's hilarious. If the cash register can read all the items then it can "deactivate" them. Actually, in the way we understand RFID today a real "Future Store" would not have a "deactivating" process as I assume every item with RFID would have a random serial number so that the store's computers would NOT set a shop lifting alarm off after the item has been paid for.

That's because this is a European video and the E stands for Euro. Did you notice the weights on the vegetable scale? They were in kg, not lbs. They've had those scales in European grocery stores for years. You put your produce on them, touch the picture of what it is (tomatoes for example) and it automatically weighs and prices them and produces a sticker for you to put on the bag for the check out person to scan.
