So let's think..who in the present state of affairs has a vested interest in distracting people from realizing the corruption of the economy and politics? I'm glad you're disappointed in Obama, but I think people should've looked further into his history and past associations before electing him.

@Gimmel748 The people are in the streets finally for a real reason and the reasons are clearly stated by the posters they carry, Richard Wolff , Christopher Hedges, Greg Palast, Noam Chomsky and many others. I think it is the herd mentality of people who take republican talking points seriously instead of digging in deeply to the motives of the 99%. @FartyFace FDR was basically made to do the things he did by the people and of course his extremely brillant wife. We are not given a choice but a rather limited selection. It is a mockery of democracy to see this happen every election cycle, but the Occupy movement is growing and this means that in affect something could be done to make Obama (or whoever, because it makes little difference but Republicans are by far more funded by the corrupting forces) do the right thing.

outside of government there was no will in the states to get involved in a european war, the u.s had large italian, irish and german communities and there was a feeling that european countries had been fighting each other for over a 1000 years so why should we get involved?
most people emigrated to the u.s to escape that type of thing.
