  • fuckin haters....well i thought it was pretty badass myself!

  • I think that is the first time I've seen 5th gear used for drag racing. Of course, I don't follow much drag racing either.

  • WOT and not using the clutch is powershifting; my 5.0 was shifted at 5500 RPM

  • Whats up with the BS?,,, Nice vid,, good shifts,,, and just for shits, remember,, hey,,, its HIS car...........soooo yeah, if u want to do a vid in response and show ur ball sack, if u can do better.

  • nice shifting !.....for the idiots who say he is not powershifting....you better stick to your hotwheels! You are truly an idiot!

  • a friend of mines could shift my 89 5.0 without using the clutch, thats powershifting

  • @cpe6 Why are you letting your friend beat on YOUR car?

  • @sidekicklrg

Powershifting (also known as;full-throttle shifting, flat-foot shifting, or Speed shifting) is a method of shifting used with manual transmissions to reduce the time where the driving wheels are not powered.

Unlike a normal gearchange, or "Granny Shifting" with a manual transmission, in a powershift, the driver does not let off the accelerator. The clutch is briefly depressed while the shift lever is rapidly shifted into a higher gear, keeping the engine in its power band.

  • @sidekicklrg You are the retard buddy, powershifting is when you don't lift off the gas. Go WOT shift a synchronized tranny without touching the clutch pedal and report back to us your findings.

  • @mxt2s Yumm.... ground gears... metal dust...

  • @sidekicklrg powershifting is without lifting your foot off the gas...

  • @sidekicklrg You, my friend, are dumb.

  • @sidekicklrg HAHA Someone doesn't know what powershifting is. =P

  • bojovi your an idiot. if you run a manual trans and nitrous and you let up to change gears you just loaded the intake with excess gass and juice and when you get back on the throttle you can grenade your motor doin that. obvious youve never driven anything with a lot of power.

  • that,s what you do when your racing and NOT getting groceries you keep the loud pedal on the floor YOU EVER HEARD OF SPEED SHIFTING---yeah buddy win first unless you got shit to do tomorow or drive your 30 somthing year old hornet to work! yeah right! I guess this is your day today, for school there squire!

  • holy hell!!!! ive never seen this done but now that i have, WOW!!!! ima try this haha

  • wow bye bye clutch

  • awesome shifting!

  • BTW awesome fast shifts mloboda. Watching this video makes me miss my old 5.0 so much. I must pick up another RWD V8 stick car at some point. For now my SVT contour will have to do. Nice car to drive with decent handling, brakes and 'pep' but its not the same :(

  • so whats the difference between power shifting and regularly shifting a stick car like how much e.t or mph do u gain on your runs

  • Any engine will scream if ya build it right. How about launching at 10,500 & shift at 9,500 with a 283 or launch at 8,000 with BBC? Uh huh, yup. It's been done for ya lil rookies that don't know. If ya ain't got it, stay on the trailer n let us boys have some fun! Cya....................

  • Forget all them stupid peoples comments. Thats a good vid. Glad to see it's not my car gettting it done to it just one more time.

  • @bonjovi54321

    Stick to music, moron

  • @mloboda nah you can power shift you just need to kno the shift point on your car if you think it will fuck up your trans then you obviously dont kno shit about real american muscle and btw i love this i have a 71 hornet 2 door with a 360 hot video

  • @mloboda

    jajajajajja

  • @mloboda

if that guy "bonjovi54321" went for a ride in a stickshift superstocker he would shit himself and go blind !

  • @bonjovi54321 shut the fuck up

  • @bonjovi54321 yea, there are different ways to powershift but thats still impressive to be able to shift like that and not over rev ur engine even more

  • @bonjovi54321 If you dont know shit about cars, dont make stupid comments!

  • @bonjovi54321 It wouldn't be a powershift if you let off the gas. This is drag racing not cruising to the store. Do you drive an automatic? Do you even drive?

  • @bonjovi54321 transmission*

  • @bonjovi54321 Stick to the faggottry. This is a V-Gate shifter in a drag racer, in power shifting also called flat foot shifting, you don't let off the gas. It works especially well in sequential transmissions. The clutch is tapped as you can see, just tapped, now of course you wouldn't do this with your Beetle, might wear out the clutch but hell, go for it...

  • @bonjovi54321 he needs to stay home in his room and play with his Barbie Dolls. Damn sweet run dude.

  • @bonjovi54321 hahaha no way buddy... do it all the time in by b2200 all its done is fucked the u joints and thats 20 mins and 30 bucks

  • @bonjovi54321 If you do it quick enough, the revs wont climb much and therefore no issues. At least I believe this is the logic to it. Sorry to comment on an old posting but figured I'd mention it.

I used to have a 5.0L Mercury Capri and used to powershift it often with no issues. I've also powershifted my SVT contour often without issues. Still original transmission at almost 400,000KM.

  • @bonjovi54321 the headline says powershift. powershifting is leaving the gass to 100% when shifting to maintain boost and rpm. Also the rotation-momentum of the engine creates a huge hp boost when releasing the cluch for 1/4 of a second, until your your engine and the transmition are syncron. this short hp "boost" is able to spin your tires even in 4th gear with a normal car on the road.

powershifting is essential in shifting fast.

  • @bonjovi54321 Does an automatic trans let up the gas ? NO. you goof ball, bonjohova. This is how to speed shift a manual.

  • @bonjovi54321 A real driver with a decent car has the ability to shift while keeping his foot all the way down on the gas you dumbass, apparently you don't know what you're talking about.

  • @bonjovi54321 its called powershifting

  • @bonjovi54321 laughing my ass, not off but close to that* its so funny after all my knowledge in cars I go on youtube and see people (idiots like you) with no mechanical education what so ever, post dumb shit like you just posted......gtfo of here

  • NOW THAT WHAT THE FUCK IS UP

  • what clutch were ya using?

  • thats how its done!

  • true... powershifting is when your at full throttle and not lifting once, while ur shifting

  • thats how a 5 speed is supposed to be shifted dammmmmnnnn

  • That's the way it's done.

  • lol@the break pedal jumping.

  • sick dude how many clutches do you burn up tho?

  • Yea it is if you'll notice he isn't lifting the throttle

  • Incorrect. Powershifting is anytime you don't lift the throttle to shift. Using the clutch is determined by what type of transmission.

  • wrong, that IS powershifting.

  • wrong.

this is powershifting. you DO use the clutch while powershifting...

try to get a car thats under full throttle and load out of gear WITHOUT using the clutch once....it won't be easy. Unless you drive a car that can't get out of its own fucking way.

  • I drive a 1979 Toyota StationWagon 4x4

    :|

  • your right ,but I think he went a little deep past breaking the load. It dosent slip as much if your off the clutch once the load breaks , all in all not bad at all

  • hawkman is a dumbass,,apparently you dont know shit about racin cars..that was power shiftin or speed shiftin!! go get in your ford focus and ride away!

  • I noticed you brought your r's up just before you launched and not before. It appeared to be simultanously--could you tell me the purpose of bringing your rpms up at the time of launch instead of waiting with your rpms at your launch point. Also, do you have a clutch stop or do you play it by feel?

  • do you mean what's the difference between revving up before you launch or just sitting idle until you launch? If you bring up the revs at a standstill with the clutch in and dump the clutch as soon as the light goes green, you'll get a much faster start as the clutch will bang in and the car will instantly be ripping. If you idle until the light goes and THEN hit the gas and drop the clutch, the engine takes precious seconds to speed up.

  • It appears that the car is staged and then you bury the throttle just before launch. Do your revs go up every time you engage the cluth, or do you shift so fast that the r's don't increase at all. I was told that shifting without rpm increase between gears was a true mark of an expert four rowler (or,in this case, 5 rowler).

  • This is true, when the clutch is used. How much the RPM increases depends on how the car is setup & how good the driver is. Good hand-foot coordination is a must!

On a good pass (for me), I'll 'grab' about 500 RPM between gears. On a so-so pass, I'll grab a little less than 1000 RPM. The 2-3 shift is the toughest - you still have a lot of acceleration that's trying to pull your arm back while you're trying to push the shifter.

    Bye-Run

  • hahaha see the brake pedal flopping around....sweeeeeeeeeet.

  • nice, nice!!! realy good work man

  • WOW !! perfect shift !!

  • respect. no lift

  • thats gotta be one of the most best shifts ive seen on here. thumbs up man !!!

  • Sweet power shifting dude :D

  • wow man.. i can never powershift into fifth gear.. always gets caught.. haha but im just as good as you.. must be fun driving that thing down the track

  • Now that's what I call 5* shifting...!

  • This is very good shifting, must have linkages aligned perfect, and nil for freeplay on the clutch pedal, burns out input bearing, but there cheap...Hurst h pattern i tend to pre-load the shifter, you can pull with all your might under power and unless the engine misses, just kick the clutch and bang the next gear...but watch the knuckles going from 2nd to 3rd on the dash, expectially with the monster handle chrysler cars had on most b-body muscle cars

  • pro shifted power shiftin! YAEEEHAAAA!!!!

  • 2bad440 is an idiot. Thats an extremely good job powershifting.

  • nice spring on the brake pedal, lol. i bet his taillights flash on every time he bangs a gear. lol.

  • @fixbus1 haha its an amc thing mine flash and i drive around with my reverse lights on cause its a column shift turned into a floor shift ... i think its just an amc thing :P

  • I gotta learn to do that

  • NOW thats what i call powershifting, thats what they call bang gears

  • He drove the hell out it

  • I dont think your brake pedal should be flappin like that. =D

  • That is freakin awsome makes me want a stick car bad

  • Great video ......i am interested in the info about the car .......its a 327? bored over?......what kind of cam, rotating assem., heads, rear end (9in.?), what gear?

...................i race circle track and have a 408 chevy small block callies crank eagle rods wiesco pistons isky cam dart heads and 830 cfm carb .............i love H.P.!

  • NICE!

  • I love banging my own gears, nice shifting

  • that is a ratchet shifter you cant shift as fast as you can a regular

  • Nicely done!

  • Manual shifting is standard in sweden, where i live. Kind'a removes the "race-car" feeling. Still, we dont have 100 pound clutches ;D

  • nice shifting man nothing is funner!

  • ok i c..the yea thats prolly about risht if you dont wanna blow a ring or 2

  • Comment removed

  • It's a 327 SBC

  • @kingofthe4string ... are you serious?? you have no idea what he is running, 7500 will grenade most small or big blocks, especially is they arent built for it(forged internals)..without heads and the right cam some motors wont even spin 7500rpm.

  • tell truck drivers there is no way to shift without pushing the clutch... there is an rpm the EVERY gear lines up with the syncro... if you find that rpm... you too can powershift

  • I'm a truck driver & only use the clutch pedal to take off from a stop. After that, I shift without depressing the clutch pedal. When you shift without a clutch, all you do is lightly pull it out of gear just before you take your foot off fuel pedal & lightly push it into next gear before engine rpm's are lower than trans. rpm's. It takes practice. If you want the ultimate challenge, try shifting a truck with 2 shifters.

  • ive got a 302 chevy in my nova it'll wind out to 8

  • Taht was speed shifting. Power shifting is when you don't push in the clutch and yank it into gear. like NASCAR guys do on starts and restarts. Nice job banging those gears.

  • there is no way to shift without pushing in the clutch... If you dont clutch in it just grinds and bounces is out of gear.. Powershifting is when leave your foot on the gas and just lift off the clutch when shifting.. I also believe Nascar uses straight cut transmissions so there is no clutch pedal.

  • Rock crusher............ You have never used one or you would know. Good stick driver can shift with out a clutch.

So tell me how the NASCAR guys start out with out a clutch in the car?

  • nascars do have a clutch pedal, for starting off etc, but they do not use it for high speed shifts. it would probably have to be useed for the lower speed shifting, but i dont know

  • dogbox?

  • what size engine are you running in that AMC? sounds like you might be short shifting it a little?????

  • naw dude that guy is power shifting thats why it sounds like that i race cars i do that to but it fucks up your car hell a bad if u dont do it right

  • this brings back a lot of memories..my dad raced stick shift mopars back in the early to mid 70's...nothing like riding in a stick shift turning 8,500rpms as a kid...brings back the memories..

  • 8,500rpm...unless your dad was racing nascars keep dreaming (try more like 5000-5500rpm for big blocks -440 six pack- chevy 454, 5500-6500rpm small blocks -boss 302- camaro z28).

  • Apparently you have had your head up your ass since 1970 or wasnt even an itch in your Papas pants yet.Look at what people were turning hemis in SuperStock and also turning small blocks in some of the SuperStock and modified classes.Apparently you dont know much about Drag Racing.Where did you get your rpm numbers from? Some Chiltons manual?do your homework and get educated on a subject before you open your piehole and doubt someone who was there in the 70's and has been around Drag Racing.

  • oh, and by the way , I see you have some 4 banger Cavalier wigger piece of shit on your you tube, what to hell are you even doing looking at real performance cars. go back to your wigger slo poke racing

  • 302 chevys went higher then 6500 thats for damn sure i shift mine at 7-7500 thats where the peak power is. with a 3 inch stroke you can do it!

  • It takes practice especially with that style car/trans shifter! Much easier in my 95' 6spd vette. 2 thumbs up for you man! thats one hell of a driver.

  • 11...what?

  • wow! what a great place to have a camera, awesome display, awesome video.

  • Got any exterior shots of your Hornet?that thing sounded unholy man!

  • nice!!!

  • Sweet vid, what did that car run

  • I wouldn't trust that brake pedal lol

  • that was awesome as hell man. did u let go of the gas pedal or you kept it there the whole time.

  • gas pedal was on the floor the whole time.
