  • It's good to know there are at least a few competent polititians out there.

  • Ms Lofgrin can you not see why Hollywood wants this bill to pass!

SOPA / PIPA is more about "protectionism" than Internet censorship.

The last time in this country's history when we protected American jobs was in 1929!

"PROTECTIONISM" by the federal government killed competition and caused

"the great depression" read you history ma'am

  • Sorry for so many posts but I just came across some new information. Wikimedia Foundation General Counsel Geoff Brigham has just released a letter of which I feel will be quite useful. It is titled the Wikipedia:SOPA initiative. It addresses the revised version of the bill and goes into great detail about some of the issues they still have regarding it.

  • There is one other thing to consider. This isn't just the web which this will have adverse effects. Smart Phones, GPS devices, survey equipment, bar code & credit scanners. ATM machines etc. Just about any device that requires an IP address will be at risk. This goes far beyond the internet as puts everyone in real danger. What happens if that content comes from a phone or other device? Most have internet access and what about WiFi? There are so many variables in this yet not considered?

  • Sorry about the Mr by the way lol. ^_^

  • Just to add to this. We already have somewhat a crisis as is with no more IPv4 address. The internet database of registered IP address has just sent it last batch to the 3 depositories throughout the world. The last 10 years of IP6's development would come into Jeopardy! now. This falls right in line with the IP protection act and it will only add to an already big problem. The entire web infrastructure at some point needs to be upgraded to IPv6. This is a mammoth undertaking in and of itself.

  • Google Growing Chorus of Opposition to "Stop Online Piracy Act. This is far more dangerous then i expected. This is attacking the very integrity of the web. It is attacking our security & infrastructure. This could eliminate venture capital and e-commerce in one fail swoop. This bill is a disaster of epic proportions. Mr Lofgren please check this out. If this was about piracy & copyright would so many credible people be talking against it. This bill needs to die and start over.

  • editing the DNS- even in a little way could wreck havok on all of the layers of the internet... govt should just pay big media their extortion racket money back.. No hail to King obama from me... All who support this bill have LOST my vote..

  • The interesting part was even after this very convincing argument, the bill's author, Lamar Smith from Texas, refused to pass her amendment. Furthermore, many of the 'authors' of the bill, admitted that they didn't know a thing about the internet, but still refused to hear from experts, like, i dunno, people who created the internet in the first place!

The whole debacle shows just what's wrong with our legislative process.

  • @RepZoeLofgren Zoe you need to watch this! /watch?v=y7DkrsCCQ_A

  • This needs to spread like wildfire.

  • Thank You !!!

  • Good! Well said!

  • Seriously, only 4900 views, cmon people, this needs to be heard.

  • KICK ASS LADY :)

  • Thank god someone is using their brain.

    Let's hope this condition spreads.

  • Common sense?! In my Internet?!

  • @lonamiRenilla It's more liekly than you thi- Buttnuggets!

  • She automatically gets my vote.

  • As someone who sees the future, if, and i state If they succeed in destroying the last piece of freedom of the Internet for a few to make tons of money off of, I see the Future as a World Wide Civil War shall brew for their will be now way to shape or change policies of Lies into the Truth and for this the World will turn to Guns and Ammo as it has for 1000's of Years and this Time it will be World Wide!

  • Rep. Lofgren, thank you for seeking knowledge and turning it into wisdom! It shows the Lies they tell you and much of those in our Public service to get what they want under the Illusion of doing good!

  • 1+ internet.

    FREE internet.

  • We need more people like her in the world. Thanks, Lofgren!

  • I hate to be THAT GUY, but...

I think that 3 individuals are who I think are funded by the movie industry to dislike this video.

  • Members of California's 16th Congressional District, you better fucking re-elect this woman.

  • Those 3 dislikes are from those 3 parties who were payed and voted Aye for SOPA.

  • +20 to coolness

  • +10000 Reputation, Internet.

  • HAHAHAHHAAAA 3 DISLIKES!!! XD

  • Thank you for doing this for us, Rep. Lofgren. We appreciate all your efforts!

  • Wonder who those three dislikes came from.

  • There's still hope *_*

  • Thanks you Rep. Lofgren for being on the side of the experts, and scientist who work to build the internet, who understand its structure, and who are driving innovation against paid lobbyist who's sole purpose is to be the mouth piece of the people who hired them.

  • I have one more thing to say, do congress, the government, and the movie Industry pay for our Internet bills? or even provide the service for us? because if they did then yeh ill understand it but this is a payed service, should be able to do what the hell we want.

  • Thanks Rep. Lofgren!

  • As most of the people there are busy lining their pockets with money, Lofgren is busy kneeing them in the balls with the truth.

  • I don't know her, but you Americans should definetely vote for her when you have the chance!

  • I just want to thank you for not being bought out.

  • I would elect her for president. Common sense = gets things done. Sadly all of Congress is so .. out there that they even debated if PIZZA is a veggie overall. And that's where our paid taxes go.. *sigh*.

  • Run for president. We need someone who will listen to the voice of the general public.

  • FUCK YEAR! COMMON SENSE!

  • Zoe Lofgren '12?

maybe /common sense/ is all we need in the white house...

  • Lofgren and Issa know what's up.

  • Thank you Lofgren

  • Rock on Lofgren!

  • REAL HERO.

    REAL HUMAN BEING.

    REAL HERO.

  • GODSPEED, GOOD LADY OF JUSTICE

  • I pray that everybody else in the House is as sensible and brave as Rep. Lofgren. Well spoken madame, I couldn't have said it better myself, and I've been spreading the word about the dangers of SOPA since it started!

  • I watched this live. Mr. Watt, Mr. Berman, and Mr. Scott are stupid fucking morons who should never have a say in this.

Rep. Issa and Lofgren are the heroes humanity deserves.

  • I just hope that the rest of congress is this sensible... And isn't bought and paid for by the movie industry.

  • THANK YOU

  • The one guy that disliked this video should be slapped with a fish.

  • @illiniphase4 All The Fish......

  • She laid down some real shit.

  • I watched a few hours of today's discussion, Lofgren was one of only three representatives who retained my respect.

I just wish some of the others would listen to them.

  • Oh hello Lofgren. How did you manage get in congress? You’re actually SENSIBLE.

  • Soo...there are people in congress that make sense. Mind=blown

  • Entertainment business is a dying class at this point imo...grossly over paid actors are coming to an end due to the internet and piracy :P

Example kayane west.. decent singer but backed by managers and so on,but a complete fucking idiot on in the inside.

  • SOPA, hum, que no mme eso es un caldo cual uno quiera XD

  • The bill hasn't passed...yet. It has one more chance to fail, but kiss everything good bye when it doeesn't.

  • :D

  • I dont know who is that woman bust she is my new hero

  • So did the bill pass or not?

  • Rep. Lofgren for queen of rationality!

  • Thank you Rep. Lofgren for bringing some much-needed common sense to this whole affair.

    You've certainly gained my respect.

  • This video is sorely missing a standing ovation.

  • @strangemodul3 (clap)

    (clap)

    (clap)

    (clapping clapping clapping)...

  • No dislikes on this video. Let's keep it that way.

  • You are a lone voice of reason in a sea of irrationality. Katherine from SC.

  • Need more people like this. ;)

  • Thank you so much! I was so happy to see a logical side in this debate! Please keep up the good work and remember us citizens are also backing you up on this!

  • I applaud Rep. Lofgren.

  • Man, the markup today was just depressing. Two amendments passed today if memory serves, and neither addressed the DNS-IP issue, ambiguity, or the possibility of abusing copyright claims to shut down sites, as Rep. Polis repeatedly highlighted.

  • im from the internets, i support this, you go girl.

  • Lofgren, I am gay, but you make me want to marry you. Have my babies?

  • Thank you Rep. Lofgren for listening to the experts.

  • While I don't agree with Rep. Lofgren on some keys issues, she shone today's markup.

  • Ms. Lofgren, thank you for being awesome.

  • I've been following this all morning, I have my last final of the semester at 7pm tonight, I'm probably not going to do too well on it because I am glued to this hearing. It's sad, terrifying, and all too true.

  • Brilliant. Too bad hardly anybody in the hall knows what they are dealing with.

  • @MalevolentVergil My thoughts exactly.
