Ben-Ami came across as someone who is genuinely Pro-Israel/Pro-Peace. What I found especially warming is that he manages to combine being a keen defender of the Jewish nation with possessing a sincere sensitivity to the plight of the Palestinians living under the Occupation. I hope that J-Street becomes the model for Pro-Israel/Pro-Peace organisations.
I also must say: that J Street advertisement is pure propaganda. It's like something out of the Soviet Union. Alan Dershowitz's lips weren't even moving in sync with the audio.
I'm a pro-Israel Jewish-American, but am against both Israeli lobbies: AIPAC and J Street. The former lobby (while advocating policies that I would generally agree with were I an Israeli citizen) subordinates Israel's sovereignty to the whims of the US government, whereas the latter falsely claims to be pro-Israel. One of its main benefactors is George Soros, the notorious left-wing billionaire who is unquestionably anti-Zionist. A vote for Ron Paul in 2012 is the last hope for Israel and the US

I have yet to see a debate in which Alan Dershowitz, always the lawyer, does otherwise. That these kinds of antics work in a court of law is a sad commentary on our justice system, but they have no place in a thoughtful debate. I have to agree with J Street that Dershowitz is counterproductive and people like him are turning young people off.
