  • NOT Jewel and NOT Sheryl Crow!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • this is, without any doubt whatsoever, Chantal Kreviazuk.

it doesn't even remotely sound like Jewel.

  • Oh but this is Sheryl Crow.

  • Jewel it is? At first I thought it was Chantal Kreviazuk, then Mazzy Star then going through all of my downloads found out it was Jewel!!!

  • Chantal has a really haunting voice. She has the rare ability to convey such emotions through the peaks and valleys when she's singing. Great Canadian/Polish artist.

  • Anyone who thought this might be Jewel or Tori Amos are either deaf or retarded.

  • This song has been mislabeled for years as Tori Amos. It was originally uploaded to file sharing sites about 10 years ago--at least that's when I first came across it. I think if people look up "Wayne" by Chantal Kreviazuk, they'll hear similarities in the vocal style. I think it's obvious that it's not Jewel despite one comment that says "it says so on my Ipod." LOL Don't people realize that uploaders can put whatever artist they want when they upload music files?

  • Actually I know Chantal and this is most definitely her! (I also have a recording of this myself)

  • This is most definately not tori amos, but I 100% guarantee she has covered it, I have it on a bootleg i bought back in the late 90

    s

  • thats sheryl crow btw

  • i just wish someone would final ask the artists to identify it. i always thought it was Tori, she tells stories in concert. i have not heard Jewel much, but i don't think it is her. Chantal would be my other guess because she reminds me a little of Tori. i love this version the best.

  • @whimsicalocean its sheryl crow, i've had this for years (also well known for blethering too much in between songs at concerts)

  • @lmenagh Does she play piano? Where is the proof? i cannot find her singing it anywhere. i will listen to her singing live.

  • @whimsicalocean its on here search sheryl crow and wild horses, im sure you can recognise her voice against other times she's spoken :D

  • maybe Madonna?

    ;-)

  • It's Jewel and it's been around for years now lol

  • It's Jewel

  • It's The Sundays you chowder heads.

  • The best version of this song ever sang by a female was recorded by Harriett Wheeler (The Sundays) back in...about 1992?? Look that one up.

  • Doesn't really matter who it is..She has a nice voice but I don't know if anyone will ever better the Stones version.

  • I loved it

  • I believe its Jewel... but its definitely not Chantal... her pronunciation is way different with a lot of her vowels. If you listen closely you'll notice... and thats something that doesnt change.

  • not Jewel...I have heard her version, not even close! FOR SURE not Tori Amos! First of all, either of those 2 I bet have known the song for years, not "just heard this the other day"...

  • @hlocicero she did not say it was the first time she heard it. She said it was possibly one of the first songs she fell in love with and she was listening to it again the other day.

  • Charlotte Martin.

  • It's JEWEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is norah jones

  • Best version right here

    by Chantal

    Case closed

  • Charlotte Martin's piano and singing skills are way way better then Chantal's.

  • its Sheryl crow

  • I aasumed for ages that this was Amos, because the track was presented to me as such and I didn't question it. But when I became aware it might not be Tori, I listened to it again and it is obviously not. I'm not overly familiar with Jewel or Chantal K? but it isn't Tori Amos, no way - as a fan though, I wish it was, 'cause it's pretty much perfect.

  • great!

  • I can't believe people think this is Jewel. First clue: the instrument. I don't think Jewel ever did a cover with a piano that wasn't with a band that seemed rehearsed. This sounds very impromptu.

Tori Amos sings at a higher register than how this video sounds. Plus, Tori is always very dramatic with the pauses during her performances.

Sheryl Crow does have that scratchy but sweet voice, not solid like this one.

I think all arrows point to Chantal Kreviazuk. Of course, could be someone else.

  • nope, tori.

  • yep It's Chantal Kreviazuk

  • this is jewel

  • @jalarida nope chantal kreviazuk

  • Comment removed

  • @unstabledavid i hate punks who send me shit and it aint the real person...i should stab him yer? lol....thanks for informin me anyways XD

  • love chantal she is brillant

  • why does it matter who is singing it, its the stones song anyways.

  • Haha, I love how every second post says "I'm 100% positive it's ...." and then goes off insulting the post beneath him because it said otherwise.

  • This is Chantal Kreviazuk!! I have the CD. This doesn't even sound like Tori Amos.

  • @freshyob

What is the name of the CD?

  • @freshyob I've decided it cannot be Chantal, she has a rasp when she sings.

  • This Is Tori Amos I have video of this same recording none of you people know what your talking about it sounds nothing like Sheryl Crow are you kidding me? This is obviously Tori if you cant hear that then you know nothing about Tori and need to close your trap.

  • Post video or admit obvious lie. If video exists then it would be known of...

  • LADY GAGA

  • LOL...this is Sheryl Crow. She's done this song live SEVERAL TIMES, and that's her exact speaking and singing voice. Anyone who has seen her live many times would know this.

  • this is sheryl crowe

  • Its Chantal Kreviazuk there's no mistaking that girls voice!

  • Frigging AMAZING!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, this isn't Tori Amos. But, I would love to hear her cover this song. It doesn't sound like Jewel either. I'm not familiar with either Charlotte Martin or Chantal Kreviazuk. So, it is either one of them two, heh... But, I don't know who it is. But, you should have included other photos of the other artists, not just of Tori Amos, although, she is my favorite, heh.

  • charlotte martin.

  • The sundays version is better

  • THis is definitely NOT Jewel, but I believe I saw this exact version in concert by Chantal Kreviazuk.

  • it is tori amos live songfacts id=530

  • Comment removed

  • I only really know Tori and it's definitely not her, but it would be lovely for her to cover this. She's done some beautiful covers.

  • Sheryl Crow

  • I am really feeling this song today.....:)

  • I have no idea who it is, but I swear it is not Tori Amos!!!

  • This does not have the power to be Tori Amos...

  • This is Tori Amos!!! I have watched her perform this live two different times. She did a great job and deserves credit

  • chantel 100%

  • This is not Tori, kinda sounds like Jewel a little, I dont know who Chantal Kreviazuk is and this is NOT charlotte matin. This is an amazing live version but what BUGS the hell out of me is the fact that the singer is covering THE SUNDAYS version. Even if the Stones made this song, this is a copy of the Sundays version. Again, I do love this version but I have to give credit where credit is due and the BEST version goes to THE SUNDAYS for making it sound this way! PS... Who the f*ck is singing?

  • Have always thought this - that every female arrangement of this tune, for the last 15 or so years, is a direct cover of the Sundays version. That said, in the 60s it wasn't uncommon for covers to better known that originals, but I don't think the Stones had their work reinterpreted to a higher standard that often

  • Definetely no Tori and no Jewel there

  • i'm going to have to go with Chantal who i've just recently become aware of via .. what else??.. YT . i have been a big fan of tori's & jewel's for years & to my incredibly fine tuned ears this is just not either's voice.

  • chantel :)

  • This is CHANTAL KREVIAZUK. Her voice (singing and speaking) is unmistakeable. If you don't believe me, listen to other recordings by her. It sounds so different from Tori Amos, I can't imagine how anyone could mistake it for her. And Jewel doesn't even play the piano.

So you can stop debating now.

  • its jewel.

  • Sounds like Chantal to me.

  • She is Jewel, not Tori Amos! YOU FAIL!

  • @proevolab this is most definitely not jewel...

  • this is def. jewel and i have it on my ipod. JEWEL

  • this is jewel doing vh1 show btw

  • very pretty

  • It's really funny, cause I've had this song for ages now, and I downloaded it as Jewel, so I never quite questioned it. But as I checked out Chantal Kreviazuk, I do belive it's her.

  • for sure CK, if you check out CM,TA,JEWEL, they cant do this with their voices

  • It's Chantal Kreviazuk.

  • this is charlotte martin i have this song!

  • Its all four of them if you guys would listen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is not jewel!

  • This is TORI AMOS 100% guarenteed

    Beautiful cover

  • This isn't Jewel--definitely not. It's Chantal Kreviazuk. She's been singing this version of Wild Horses since 1996.

Jewel would sound great singing this song though.

  • JEWEL...amazing..

  • this is JEWEL..if you have ears you can hear that..

  • mumblesngloria617 - you don't have ears, it sounds nothing like jewel.

i'll admit i dont really know who it is however but i know for an absolute fact it isn't jewel.

  • this is jewel kilcher! i have this on cd! and i'm a hundred percent sure!!!!

i'm her biggest fan! i know this is her version ;) and i love love love it.... listen to this all day! for years now :D

can't stop listning! so so jewel this is!

  • CHARLOTTE MARTIN !

  • I think it sounds like a very young Sheryl Crow. Does she play piano? It could have been someone else playing, of course. It really sounds like her especially when she is wailing out WIIIIIIIIILD HORSES. I'd know Tori's voice anywhere and there is NO WAY it's Tori. Jewel also has a distinctive voice, and though the talking part sounds like it could be Jewel, I don't think the singing is her. I stand firm on Sheryl Crow.

  • um, it's jewel..i have it on a live album

  • jewel

  • tori amos

  • Sounds like Sheryl Crow to me.

  • This song is such a waste of her talents.

  • how wrong you are. you know nothing about music. this is a beautiful song. and she sounds amazing.

  • Right, I know nothing about music. 10 years of classical training, 20+ years performing professionally on three different instruments and every genre, but I clearly know nothing about music. You like this song so you think it is great. I do not like this song therefore I think it is a waste of the singer's talent. That is called a difference of opinion. It does nothing establish whether either of us know anything about music. You like it; I don't.

  • there's you're answer. classical training.

she's a singer songwriter. how could this song be a waste of her talent? It perfectly fits her range and showcases her voice and TALENT on piano. She writes songs in the same genre of this song for christ sake. and for you to say this is a bad song. wow. you really need to reevaluate your life. and if you're a songwriter i would love to hear your songs. i bet none of them are up to this par. I also bet you have a pony tail.

  • For all its worth man, Music is opinion. I love this song, but you hate it.. that's why its art. It appeals to a different perspective. Perhaps this music doesn't qualify to your taste (desire) of highly sophisticated musical harmonies and repertoire you might find in a symphonic piece. I don't know why you are marked down, you are just voicing a different perspective. I gave you a thumbs up for articulating on what you actually like. People can be very bitter, sorry.

  • Thank you that is what I am saying. Everybody has songs that for whatever reason get under their skin. For me this is one of them. Whoever is singing this is amazing but this song is like nails on a chalkboard to me. For what's its worth a good friend of mine LOVES this song and she gets mad at me for not liking, too. Which, for the record, is crazy.

  • it's chantal kreviazuk, guaranteed. I've seen her play this live.

  • I wish someone would just find out. Endless comments of "no its . . . " and "your wrong it's" aren't especially helpful. Also I think it might be important because I think this version appears to have influenced future ones (e.g. Susan Boyle etc.) - so it would be nice if the singer could get credit for it.

  • it's Chantal Kreviazuk

  • I am 100% sure this is Chantal Kreviazuk. Listen to her voice in interview, she sounds exactly like this.

I am a huge fan of both Tori and Jewel and this is not of the them.

And based on Charlotte Martin songs I know, this has nothing to do with her.

Listen to Far away from Chantal Kreviazuk, this is her tone and her scratchy and powerful voice.

  • not sure who but its not tori

  • easily jewel. i know this because i was there. SO TAKE THAT. haha.

  • @sandcircle - why is everyone saying it's jewel. it isn't her. it sounds nothing like jewel. her speaking and singing voice is completely different. it isn't chantal either.

i think it's tori. the piano suggests it is too.

  • it's chantal...

  • check out wikipedia, there is a list of people who covered the song:WildHorses" and Jewel is listed.

  • It is Jewel :)

  • UUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • THIS IS NOT TORI AMOS!!!!! è__é

My god! THIS VOICE IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO TORI'S.

    Absolutely.

  • Dude u have no clue what u talking about bud this is Tori ive got this on dvd and i hope all the rest of u dummys read this your not tori fans it sounds LIKE TORI RETARDS

  • It's no way Tori Amos.

  • agree with Cheangy - sheryl crow has a different accent for a start!

  • it's Chantal - don't know how you can even mistake her talking and singing voice for the likes of Jewel, Sheryl Crowe and Tori Amos.

  • its Sheryl Crow !

  • Chantal

  • This is Chantal Kreviazuk for sure.. My fellow Canadian!!

  • this is NOT tori amos, not in a thousand years! Tori would 've done it ten thousand times better! ;-p

  • Better uhhhhhh really it is tori dumb dumb

  • As far as I know, this IS Tori Amos

  • Okay - it's not any of them. It is certainly NOT Tori Amos.

She doesn't have any rasp in her voice - and her piano style is different (more arpeggios than flat chords).

However - it doesn't sound like any of the others, sorry.

My guess - someone unknown (who likes Tori a lot). OR someone known but a long time ago . . . .

  • Anyone who thinks this is Jewel Kilcher most certainly does not know Jewel...

    This is NOT Jewel.

  • Chantal Kreviazuk. I'm a million and one percent sure. lol

  • I think it's Chantal.

  • this is chantal kreviazuk!!!

  • hate subo

  • As long as it is NOT Susan Boyle or anything remotely to do with Simon (Snide) Cowell, it is OK by me. I enjoyed this version & it could only be bettered if Cara Dillon or Regina Spekoter sang it. (LOL)

  • I don't think it's any of them...

  • This is MOST DEFINITELY Chantal. I was there. It was about 10 years ago at I believe the Constellation Hotel near Toronto Airport. She was the entertainer for the Ontario Truckers' Association Annual Gala. I remember it well and it was awesome!

  • deinately NOT jewel!

  • Um, actually this DEFINATELY is Jewel. Swear. Tori Amos does this song as well, but this is NOT her.

  • i'm gonna go with Chantal Kreviazuk

  • no wait, that can't be right. that's not jewel's voice. nvm.

  • jewel at the beginning... tori on piano.. Charlotte martin vocal track? oh i'm so confused.

  • ITS JEWEL OMG

  • not Jewel

  • It is definitely NOT Tori Amos. This is directed to the commenter below me--stop being a moron and a jerk. I originally thought it was Charlotte Martin, but I'd have to agree with the people that think it's Jewel. The inflections in the singing and the speaking voice definitely point to her, especially at 1:40-1:43.

  • Sorry, NOT Jewel

  • Comment removed

  • You guys are so fucking stupid---this is Tori.

    She released as a B-side

  • You are the only one who is right...IT IS TORI

  • IT IS CLEARLY TORI

  • you can delete tori amos from the list that's all i know. she's great whoever she is... so's tori but it aint her.

  • I really have a hard time trying to figure this one out for years now lol

  • @tweetonsweet1 This is Tori Amos...I have watched her perform this live twice and have a video of one of the concerts. She does a great job and deserves credit....

  • I think I'm going to try Alicia Keys. Cause I get nothing from this. No feeling, no soul. No matter how hard she tries.

  • countwolfula, tried finding The Sundays, no play. Where can I hear it, do you know? When I wrote it up, it came back no such, so what's up with that? If anyone else knows please let me know, one of my favorite songs and sorry, but this one does absolutely nothing for me.

  • An awesome performance. I believe it's Chantal.

BUT as amazing as it is, it STILL CANNOT BEAT the best version of this song ever done by....

THE SUNDAYS! Check THAT ONE out everyone!

  • its jewel... i have heard her sing this song and its her.

  • ABSOLUTELY NOT Jewel, sorry

  • It's chantal. I'm sure.

  • Everything points to Tori Amos. The piano and the singing, but the voice in the introduction does not sound like her, so it could be Jewel or any of the other artists that people have suggested... :-)

  • NOT Jewel

  • I agree with roadeopro that this is one of the best versions I've ever heard of this song, however, I just thought I would clarify that this Jewel singing

  • NOT Jewel

  • chantal without a doubt also the best version of the song ever

  • 100o/o chantal kreviazuk
