does the over heatin part kind of melt the solder on the chips..and by putin it up side down puts the chips back into place then the coolin in the fridge set the solder ?????
I read someone's post about standing on your xbox and then turning it on and it works, if this is the case it most likely means the screws that hold the GPU and other heatsink together are not tight enough and need to be tighted that's all!
@triynizzles It's hard to say, because I have 2 xbox's one brand new one and 1 old one. The old one I have done the red light fix on it twice already and it's still working going on a year now, but I do know putting some pressure on the xbox can position the circuit board properly to let the fan work as well. And some days if the red lights come on I smash it a bit and shake it and the green lights will come on again :). It's only used for watching movies threw the usb so I dont care about it!
this might sound dumb turn off red ringed xbox 360 turn it upside down get on top of it with both feet DONT JUMP and turn it on and it works WARNING NOT A PERM FIX hope this helped.
mine did the same thing got home from best buy played for 3 mins and got the 3 red lights turned out to be a problem with the ac adapter they said they would give us a brand new one if we came back so we drove 3 hours back to best buy and got a new one worked perfect

It's not smart to overheat your xbox It might work after overheating but what you are actually doing is killing your xbox permanently The RROD(redringofdeath) is actually an error that occurs when your xbox was overheated before and your motherboard has gone out of place because it was too hot Your x-clamp ( which how the call it ) is bended so what you actually need to do is order some tools at the internet to fix it

@Mienguus I share the same opinion in regards to the 'xbox tewel trick and other similar 'fixes' I have tried cleaning and replacing thermal compound on cpu and gpu chips, replaced x-clamps with screws/ rubber washers etc and then got 2 rrod... WTF!!!! replaced x-clamps and got 3rrod back. any ideas PLZZZZ????
@THEanarchistpunker You can buy a repairset with the screw drivers and screws needed for the job. First udno your xbox from it's cover. Then repair the xclamp just as told in the user manual of the repairkit. I fixed my xbox this way about 2 years ago. And it's still working.. NO RED LIGHTS ANYMORE =D

I have actually opened my xbox up several times and re-pasted the processors, gotten new plastic and metal washers. I had done that pretty much every day just so I could play for a few hours, and then the next day just had to do it again. This is way easier and cost efficient. THIS SHIT REALLY WORKS! My roommates xbox had 3 red flashing lights and so we tried this and it worked first try!! We wrapped the xbox in a beach towel for 25 mins and then put it in the fridge for about 20.. plugged it in and it worked first try! thanks!

Microsoft made millions of dodgy 360s that, when played a lot, get hot and melt some solder inside moving the graphics card.
If you do decide to do this, it does work, but it will void your warrenty, so if anything different happens and you have no choice other than sending it back to microsoft, they won't even touch it and sometimes don't even send it back, so be careful!

This worked for me. I reckon it works because there is probably an overheat protection device in the box that doesn't always reset following an overheat situation. By inducing the fault again followed by rapid cooling, the device resets correctly. I suspect the upside down bit is not necessary but you never know. I followed the instructions given except I kept mine in the plastic bag when putting the box in the fridge. I figured condensation was a real possibility.

That sounds like to me that your xbox has got very very hot and the DVD drive is sat on top of the heat shield and destroyed your drive so if you can send it back do so,if not you need a new drive and a third party to flash you the new one. sorry (Microsoft did not have enough money to find a sensible place to put it that's why 50% of the heat cant escape fr. But if all the people who have seen this video would send me £1 i have a solution but need to build it but make it cheap for everyone.

Yes it can work But its a temporary fix !! Might play for another couple of days then die again.This method Messes everything upFollow the Xbox cooling tips also after fixing or preventing RROD (vertical stand, Fans pushing air up from the bottom, No fans that need to get power from the xbox and always remove disks else it will suck in more dust (blow out with canned air)

My Xbox360 what i got in 2005 as died on me with the 3 right lights of death. I phoned up Microsoft what happen and they told me to bin it or get a new one as it will cost me £70 to get it fixed and all they will do is put a new motherboard in. So i had a go fixing it my self and had 100% no luck on it. So my top bro got me a new one what is a Xbox 360 elite.
From to day i been looking on YouTube about fixing Xbox 360 and am going to give it a go on fixing my old one again.

its absolutely serious.. it just melts some solder on the graphics card and re-applies it..
Microsoft made millions of dodgy 360s that, when played a lot, get hot and melt some solder inside moving the graphics card.
If you do decide to do this, it does work, but it will void your warrenty, so if anything different happens and you have no choice other than sending it back to microsoft, they won't even touch it and sometimes don't even send it back, so be careful!

This worked for me. I reckon it works because there is probably an overheat protection device in the box that doesn't always reset following an overheat situation. By inducing the fault again followed by rapid cooling, the device resets correctly. I suspect the upside down bit is not necessary but you never know. I followed the instructions given except I kept mine in the plastic bag when putting the box in the fridge. I figured condensation was a real possibility.

I did everything tis vid told me to do, only, i didn't work :( is there a step I'm missing?
- Put 360 in (double) binbag, for 20 mins, up side down
- then put 360 in fridge for 25 mins , once again up side down
I take it out, switch it on, and there's still those narly 3 red lights!

That sounds like to me that your xbox has got very very hot and the DVD drive is sat on top of the heat shield and destroyed your drive so if you can send it back do so,if not you need a new drive and a third party to flash you the new one. sorry (Microsoft did not have enough money to find a sensible place to put it that's why 50% of the heat cant escape fr. But if all the people who have seen this video would send me £1 i have a solution but need to build it but make it cheap for everyone.
