Everyone educated on Taiwan who is under 50 years old speaks Mandarin. This is the same spoken language of China. But Taiwan uses traditional chinese characters while China uses simplified characters. What is called Taiwanese is actually the same as the Fujian dialect of China. Taiwanese do speak mandarin and Fujianese (what is known as Taiwanese on Taiwan) with a particular unmistakeable accent though. That is different from those educated in China.
chinese n taiwanese, FROM THE LANGUAGE PERSPECTIVE, both are almost the same. they both use mandarin. except that the mandarin in taiwan is less complex n easier to understand, more or less the same as the mandarin in singapore n malaysia.. so there's no need to fight over it. and btw, i too disagree on the usage of all those bad words.. you need to learn some manners and an attitude makeover really badly.. it's a surprise to see some1 calling ppl a "stupid brat freak" all of a sudden.. huhu

Just like most Singaporeans are ethnic Chinese but prefer to be known as Singaporean rather then Chinese.
Taiwanese prefer to be distinct from those who were born and raised in China.
