Just for the heads up to anyone who wants a fully built 3sgte motor than can handle 700 peak hp out of a 1991 All-trac Celica and intercooler ect. I'm selling my hole setup for $7,778 or just the motor $6,500. It will be on ebay as soon as i can pull the motor.
No you have to use the ECU that is made for your engine. The motor I bot off of ebay came with the stock 3sgte ECU. I only had a start to run problem and that was it. It ran good and I wanted more power and I got it mechined then I put it back together. And still running the stock 3sgte ECU. Next year I'm getting AEM plug an play stand alone.
The stock motor that comes with the stock 1990 Celica GT FWD is an 2.2L 5S-FE engine. All the parts off the ST185 GT4=AWD Celica setup can and will work on a ST184 GT2=FWD Celica platform. No fabrication and no mods need to be made to the engine mounts. I'm using the stock 1990 Celica GT tranny that came with the car.
Hey thanks, right now I haven't had time to do much with the car but with all the new parts and mods I've done dynoed at at 387hp at 7889rpm. She fast now got my first race vs a 500hp dodge stealth the other day and got 7 cars on him lol you should of seen his face :o holly shit!! Lol what you got in that thing! And me being me I said its stock hahaha.
im currently doing mine, the motor fits but slight changes to the mounts has to be done, i did the front mount and used the camry lsd stick fwd trany... let me know how much hp you get out of it thanks.....
The motor should just slide in fine, but you'll need to do a front mount intercooler cause the top mount 3sgte cooler will stop the hood from closeing. I would use your fwd corolla tranny it should bult right up to the motor
My 1990 GT Celica has a 1991 3SGTE jdm motor not USDM. New stock CT26 with a 57 trim, new performance monifold with 3" down pipe, custom 2 1/2inch all the way to the custom mufflor, full MSD kit, 1992 MR2 destribiter cap, NGK cold plugs with 8mm MSD wires, stock 1990 GT tranny with new ACT full stg 3 kit, bone stock motor making 340.376 whp.
Stock 90-93 GT FWD Trannys will work with 3SGTE motors. Yes I'm running the Stock GT tranny and ran into NO!! problem's just remember to get a new full stage 2 cluch kit or higher to take the tork. The hole MSD kit is very secure.

You need to use everything off of the All-trac 3sgte setup nothing is going to be saved from the 5sfe setup.

@SkyLineCelica
did you change the entire wiring harness from the 5sfe to the 3sgte or use the original 5sgte harness?

did u just plug in a standard 3sgte ecu to replace the 5sfe ecu or are you using a stand alone engine management system?
