  • The Exorcist!

  • That is great the Theremin bit! (& the rest of course)

  • im guessing the "voices from the other side" is just electro harmonix in the reverse loop

  • @kyzrvlhlm1995

Its Mike Matthews the founder/president of EHX talking.

  • This SHOULD be very inspiring for current guitarists

  • LOVE "The Twillight Zone" references. :D

  • wonderful.

    Absolutely wonderful.

  • does anyone know the name of the song at 4:04?

  • @nonsimia92

It's the beginning of Tubular Bells by Michael Oldfield.

It was used in The Exorcist too.

  • would a germanium 4 pi big muff substitute for the english muff'n and the big muff that makes the white noise in the graveyard part?? and can you use a micro synth as a sub for the POG for the organ

    ???

  • would a germanium 4 pi big muff substitute for the english muff'n and the big muff that makes the white noise in the graveyard part??

  • @unknownreliance

It should if not a booster or compressor pedal add will bring up the white noise.

  • some of these would be good on an overture

  • 1:53 Love the ghost sounds, how do you get that?

  • @Alienpelvis86

To get ghost sounds you bend a note while slowly bring up your volume knob.

  • michael oldfieeeeeld (L)

  • I now require every EHX pedal ever made.

  • hey ehx! can you please post a video on how to achieve that dubstep bass wobble using a live bass?

  • wut pedal would give me the keyboard sound like on children of bodom wrath within wen the guitar and keyboard have a duet, i want my guitar to have that keyboard sound, and a violen sound, and can u send me the tabs for that little sond at the end plz

  • this is fantastic! great to see people are still finding cool new things to do with pedals, guess i won't sell mine after all. major props man, keep up the good work!

  • Dude, you are on of the most knowledgeable and skilled guitar effects users I have ever seen...and I've seen quite a few. Even if some of it isn't my style, there is alot that anyone could learn from in your videos.

  • where can i get the photocell with the jack tip??? someone please tell me!!

  • @3ankoosh

At the top of the page right underneath the video is a small box that says Effectology and the date it was posted. If you double-click on that you will see the full description of the video. At the bottom of the description is a link to the forum notes where you can find out where to buy the photocell and how to wire it.

  • the LAST organ thing....that's the theme music from the movie Phantasm.....one of my personal cult favorites....stupid ass horror flic....fun as hell to watch.

  • Do you have the tab for The Exorcist theme? :)

  • Greatest sounds ever!! Could I get similar results with a Bass guitar running the same setup?

  • @cornbreadvr

    Sure!

On the musical stuff play up the octave from where I did.

  • wow!! i knew u could do these stuff on a guitar too but didn't know HOW and i didn't thought it would be so good, i'd shit my pants!!! :P fantastic video man!

  • how can i get the twilight zone sounds?

  • @deathcardfilms

The Twilight Zone riff was just a guitar into a Stereo Memory Man in loop mode.

I speed it up and brought down the speed

  • can i learn the scary riff at the end !?

  • I feel like I was at a haunted house Pink Floyd show!!!!!!!!!

    AWESOME!!!!!!

  • II wonder what Mike was saying through the pickups on reverse... a subliminal message for us to buy EHX pedals would be futile, we already want'em all ;D

  • How do you get the white noise from the big muff :o?

  • @bernich88

The white noise just created by cranking up the big muff and boosting it.

With out a connection to the input of the Muff it amplifies the internal wires and what you hear is electrons in the wire. Its called thermal noise and very close to the make up of white noise.

  • @Effectology HEY THANKS!! :D ive been wanting to do that kind of wind emulation for a long time : )! peace!

  • @Effectology Thanks!

  • where can i find a photocell like that and how would that work with other effects?????wow that was so cool!!!!

  • @chazz59

    Mail order from Allied Radio.

In the description for the video above I have a link to the EHX forum where I show the wiring and part number.

    Bill

  • I am now officially an EHX fan...WOW!

  • do you ever use a graphic fuzz?

  • Yeah, not really terrifying, but absolutely brilliant range of varied tones and sounds. And so pure (using only the guitar)! I particularly loved the Wind Storm and the Organ sounds.

  • great stuff thanks

  • the ending! lol Thats awesome!

  • Great entertainment!

  • hey what were those whale call like sounds in the background from 1:48 to 2:00

  • @guitarkid12344321

    They are moaning spirits!

I did it using a volume pedal while bending the lower strings high on the neck.

I eased the bent notes in with the volume pedal.

    Reverb was last.

    Bill

  • hello can i connect the micro synthetizer to a keyboard? regards

  • @Loetrumpet

    Yes it woks great!

It can add a great distortion effect to you keys.

  • This just blew my F***ing mind!!!!

  • how the fuck can people not know thats was tubular bells? its like the most famous album ever

  • EHX IS THE TITS...

  • Extremely cool sounds. Im very impressed!

  • I have a POG and I think I might log off now and try that amazing organ. Great vid...Thanx!!

  • i thought i had heard it all... fantastic sounds and work 'beyond the manuals'. makes me re-think what i can do with the tools i have sitting here.

    many many thanks!

  • HEY DO YOU GUYS KNOW HOW TO GET THE EFFECT FROM THE IRON MAN SONG WERE HE SAYS I AM IRON MAAAAAANN?

  • @BLAZE45 a microphone, some ehx pedals and an ounce of weed

  • GRAVEYARD ROCK STYLE.....HELLZ YEA!!

  • oh, well do you remember the name of the song at the

    end?

  • @sbtrackrunner

Its is the song "Tubular Bells" by Mike Oldfield, it is used in the movie Exorcist.

Google Search "sheet music Tubular Bells"

  • @sbtrackrunner

That's only the first theme in a 25 minute song. I would suggest listening to the whole thing

  • is the sound at the very begining a song? i mean between 0:00 and 0:11...if its a song, what song it is? i just love that effect =)

  • @svelard7

    Thanks

That is a riff played through the Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai pedal.

Its in he reverse mode so what you play comes out backward.

The riff is just a thing I wrote for the intro to the Effectology shows.

Its what they call a Mnemonic .

  • Fantastic Effort! where can i get the little strobe light for the exp. pedal and would it work in other exp jacks like in the H.O.G or the Deluxe Memory Man?

  • @ocarinaofprime

Thanks yes I have used the strobe with other pedals.

I bought it at a drug store around Halloween.

Search google on line for "battery powered strobe light."

They are every where. Get one with a speed control.

  • where can i buy a photo cell?

  • @Teutonic1250

    Mail order from Allied Radio.

In the description for the video above I have a link to the EHX forum where I show the wiring and part number.

    Bill

  • do u have a tab 4 the song at the end

  • @sbtrackrunner

Sorry no tab but you can find the sheet music on line.

  • @Effectology oh, well do you remember the name of the song?

  • the end reminded me of chocolate rain.....now i'll never sleep again.

  • this is the kind of stuff that makes people blow all their money on pedals

  • @popomczowzow i think thats what electoharmonix wants lol i got a cathedral reverb pedal and love it to death, that infinite reverb is awesome

  • Amazing sounds...here's a challenge; please try to produce a realistic and usable steel drum sound and show how that can be done. Thanks.

  • Way too cool. Bill Ruppert is simply amazing. Thanks for the video.

  • how to you get a slow attack effect, i have this effect on my br-600, but i want something for playing live

  • ce n'est pas une défaillance de votre ordinateur, n'essayer donc pas de contôrler l'image

  • Thumbs up for 4:05

  • nice demo

  • how do you create a white noise with a big muff??

  • @useless987

Turning the big muff on 10 with nothing connected produces noise.

Foe a full description see the page on this show in the EHX forum.

The address is above in the video description.

  • @Effectology

thanks, that's great! I will immediatly try that... I mean, when it's not 1 am! :D

also could I ask you what exact differences are between the pog, the hog and the microsynth? from what I've seen the pog is just an octaver, the hog adds some twists to it (but it sounds different from samples I heard and I kinda like the pog sounds better), whereas the microsynth is a more complex machine with more filters but less "octaver" options (it just simulates an octaver)..right??

    Thanks!

  • was that the exorsist tune....sounded alot like it

  • Great demo and superb playing !!! ; )

  • nice job man.

  • cool dude! nice job!

  • Bill..... you are a complete GENIUS... I just want you to know that. Oh yeah.... and you have my guitar, so that makes you even more of a badass.

  • dude that was kinda frightening ...

  • 2 words. That's insane

  • Tubular Bells, pretty cool :-)

  • Great vid ! I'm a Rush fan,I got a EKO bass pedal(like U can see in vids of mine)I'm looking to be able to do sounds like in Tom Sawyer song.U pretty close to it at 3:52..any advice what pedal FX I should use or try???

  • wow. great vid - really convincing organ and theramin

  • cool

  • wow definitely the best organ tone EVER

  • You got me on the Tubular Bells ... awesome! Great player! For the organ sounds ... will the HOG also work besides the POG?

  • @danceofthedruids

    Thanks!

The HOG is best at at a B-3 sort of organ and the POG 2 I feel is best at the cathedral organ sound.

Both pedals do sound different even though they both are based on pitch shifting.

  • Thanks ... I will have to add the POD2 to my wishlist ....

I am a huge fan of Mike Oldfield (especially the Berlin Millennium concert) and I dare say the guitar technique was as every bit as good as his playing right down to the finger picking ... who's the guitar player?

  • @danceofthedruids

if you are asking who's the guitar player in the Effectology series that would be me.

My name is Bill Ruppert and I am a studio musician in the city of Chicago.

I am thrilled you dug the show!

I have a new one up very soon.

  • These videos are great! I've been wanted to make the move from muliteffects units to various single stomp boxes...and this is very inspiring.

  • Electro Harmonix has been the best since day 1

  • hey how do u make a spaceship sound with the pedals, idk, i just wanted to be the next Ronald Jones

  • @Tracebebo

Start with a Deluxe Memory Man with a lot of feedback!

    Blast off

  • thanx man, btw this video is awesome, those were the best sounds i've hear on guitar, especially with the Exorcist tune at the end

  • you could probably tear up funeral doom ;P

  • Electro-Harmonix rules!

  • awesome vids you guys!

  • does anyone know where you can buy a photocell not online/?

  • @Hellad00d radioshack perhaps?

  • You are a genius. Thank you!!

  • I think it is better when you show the pictures of the pedal chain instead of just wording it, illustrations can be understood in any language.

  • I agree that is why I do it.

The pedal settings can be viewed or printed from the forum web page if needed.

The earlier shows were text only but this format is more informative and fun to watch.

  • is the white noise just created by cranking up the big muff and boosting it?

  • Yes, turned up with nothing connect to the input.

With out a connection to the input the Muff it amplifies the internal wires and what you hear is electrons in the wire. Its call thermal noise and very close to the make up of white noise.

  • I was thinking about buying a EH HOG, does it cover similar ground as the POG and Micro Synth, can I get the same sounds of those 2 pedals in the HOG or at least come close?

  • the HOG has a very nice harmony section (with a lot of octave, fifths and different harmony options) and as well includes the possibility of controlling those parameters with an expression pedal (which results in a whammy kind of sound, but with some other possibilities)... apart from that, the HOG includes a filter section that must be somehow similar to the microsynth and as well has the possibility of control with an exp pedal... is a very versatile pedal with many possibilities.

  • They all do some similar things but are very different in sound.

Best bet is to go to a shop and see whats right for your needs and sound.

  • this is my favorite effects video series. I gas for so many EHX pedals now.

  • what the title of song @4:04-4:42

  • Its the theme from horror film "The Exorcist"

    called "Tubular Bells"

  • "tubular bells" by mike oldfield to be more exact ;) love your vids btw

  • genious!!! :D

  • tubular bells

    COOL

  • Theremin was the best but all together it was awesome!

  • great stuff. I'm happy that I found you. keep up the good work!

  • bravo

  • thats awesome

  • GASP!! I want the POG to get that church organ sound..KILLER

  • Great video!

    Bravo!

  • Chapeau !

  • Sounds effects are good enough for the start of any Halloween party!

  • I LOVE THESE PEDALS MAN!!

Oh yeah, and long live movie maker xD

  • Wow. Man I love Electro-Harmonix pedals. Now if I just had the stuff you trade stores for the pedals....oh yea, money.

  • Brilliant!! Cheers!

  • Great effects! Thanks!

  • Wow sounds amazing!!

  • Very nice concept, and cool sounds!

  • Absolutely amazing!!!

  • Great job!

  • No pedal demo will ever better that.

    Bloody amazing :D

  • Οk, by FAR my favourite. Not just the sounds, but the "terror" concept is simply brilliant. Well done!! 5 stars...
