I showed my friend this game, at first he's like "Wow, this game looks awfull". I forced him to give it a shot. He got hooked and was telling me how it's the best game ever. :D
the reason video games arent as memorable or interesting anymore is because companies try too hard and try to please fans since everyone wants different things in a game they incorporate what they will see as the most economical and try to implement it. its all about money that is why video games these days suck
Ahhh memories, sweet, sweet memories, my favourite video game and score I could listen to this soundtrack over and over again and never get tired. :)
@mafoi66 -- That made something I've always thought about in my head click! It's like reading a book with no pictures. In that I mean, the less imagery there is available for you to ascertain from the media itself, the more your mind generates based on your previous metaphysical experiences. Thats why a tale weaved so great can inspire such vivid rememberances. Your Imagination > Someone else's.
To tell you the truth, I absolutely loved FF7! Although I play many modern games like Black Ops and Uncharted, FF7 took the cake for me as the best RPG I have played yet (besides Fallout 3) I had a blast for 90% of the game, I loved the slightly stereotypical yet fleshed out and surprisingly deep characters. I also think the Materia system was the best magic/abilities system for it's relative simplicity and power! Not to mention the absolutely epic music and it's $10 price tag on the PS Store!
@Querty1995 weird, my brother bought a copy a while ago from an ebgames for $100 haha that game goes anywhere from 10 - 100, and i personally think its with any of those prices. you get soo much from the game!
@shadeslay406 The playstation store on PSN (if you have a ps3). You do not get the black discs, just a digital copy, which is why I bought my physical copy of eBay for around £15
But you know, I always REALLY liked "Sending a Dream Into the Universe". Cid's story really wasn't deep. HOWEVER, he was so... real, so believable. He wasn't an extraordinary man by any means, just a man livng to fulfill his deepest wishes!
@Mightysquire I've heard the story was too complex, the fighting system was excellent, the graphics was awesome, the character development was terrible, and there were some missing Chocobos.
@acemaximus A to the men, brother. Best game of all time. No other game has had an effect on me like VII did. A Truly inspired game that invokes real emotions. Will always remember this one.
@zarados10 IMO, FF7 isn't over-rated. I just don't think the others get as much credit under 7's shadow as they should. But you gotta think... How many people played 7 and went back and played the rest just off of interest from 7? Personally it's the first game that got me interested in RPG's altogether. I went from FF7, to 8, and 9, then to Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Legaia, Chrono Cross, Breath of Fire 3, and even as far as Lunar: Silver Star Story. It was definantly my cornerstone.
FF7 got me into RPGs too but it isn't my favorite at all. It's overrated because it's not what people make it to be, now that I'm older, I can see the game for what it is. The terrible translation, the broken materia battle system. It's a good game but not great.
@zarados10 Black and white TV sucks major dick today. But back when it first came out everyone thought it was crazy alien technology type higher level shit. Without it, we wouldn't have 125 inch plasma's today. Plasma TV is great. But it isn't what paved the road.
@abztehbabz Yup. I cant think of any realy good RPG's since, perhabs Breath of fire 4 and Grandia. Pokemon's always been bad so I don't know what you mean?
@MegaDuffmann yeah but pokemon has always been aimed at kids so its not in the same boat .....golden sun was my fave if i had to pick a GB game ..but i did have a soft spot for pokemon .......im a final fantasy guy through and through though lol
Back before crappy voice acting and new flashy repedative "real time combat" became center of RPGs...
When the STORY and MUSIC were important in development. Memorable scenes weaved together and supported by some of the most memorable scores to date. I know I sound old, but I miss the good old days; where games weren't concerned with making characters look real, but were concerned more with making them ACT real.
thank fucking god someone understands. i was only like 6 when it came out and even now no game has had more impact on me than this one...(with the exception of chrono trigger)
Hey pal, that's not everything. Games are shorter now, also easier and less complex. Heh, people are caring more about cool looking characters and moves than actual gameplay. I often play and replay old games, just to get that feeling again. Even those SNES final fantasy games would take ages to finish, while some of today's games take about four hours playing to complete.
@salmonking007 man so true, thats what im always saying to my friends younger borthers playing all this modern warfare bullshit ... they should play these games these games are the real games :D
@salmonking007 i agree with you totally. this song, i heard a guy play an acoustic version of it on here and just had to learn it. the nostalgia man... anything past 10 to me just wasn't appealing. ffvii and mystic quest were my two favs.
@salmonking007 I feel your pain. That is why I have come back to all these songs to relive my past. Hopefully we will have a new game just as good. with story and music and graphics all great.
@salmonking007 God I miss that too... I still play FFVII to this day. Even have it on my PSP for when I'm on vacation! :P Good games with good story and music are very hard to find now... it's sad :(
@salmonking007 You sound like an old war veteran. I am sick of this 'first generation' FF gamers deciding what is the best and what isn't the best. I mean, what gives YOU the right to say all those things and knock new games simply due to them being different and more modern looking. It is ridiculous. IT IS A GAME, a great one at that, BUT GET A GRIP.
@CooSharn Vets usually look at the past in a somber light fyi; there aren't many guys reminiscing about WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, etc
Square has sold out and is riding on the coattails of the name "final fantasy". 11 and up were shit. There are still great games out there (Bioshock, KOTOR, Mass effect, Heavy Rain), but no true RPGs come close to the original formula of Final fantasy. It's all live action combat, high speed idiocy. They have forgotten it's roots in strategy, story, and music.
Awesome game, but it was the music that tied it all together and made you REALLY care about these characters, as if you were right there besides them, trying to save the world too. Even as I'm typing and listening to the song I feel the warm feeling I got when I played and heard the music. I really wish for a new-gen version of it. Little changes, maybe 1-2 extra sidequests, 1-2 new limit breaks, maybe 1 extra WEAPON). I would pay a lot for that game, just for the nostalgia in high definition.
Nah, no changes to game play. AT ALL! it would wreck it. They shouldn't even correct the translation errors in some of the text, that was funny sometimes, Pump up the graphics and MAYBE enhance the sound quality, nothing else.
this song is also used when Cid's getting ready to launch to go into space and shera's in the Engine room fixing something so he Aborts to save her life.
Its used when ShinRa load a huge materia into the rocket 'ShinRa no.26' and attempt to blow up meteor. It being reminiscent of Cid's theme relates to the fact that it was his dream to go into space, which ended the day of the failed launch when ShinRa stopped funding the project.

Hey, guys! Have you heard? FFXV might be an action-RPG! What do you think about that?
I personally think it's a great idea, SE needs to try something completely different.
madapocket 2 months ago
@madapocket I disagree. I think they need to go back to the roots of pre-FFX. Focus less on graphics and more on story and music. And MATERIA!!!!!!!!
