Great Video, boy seeing that Kavan Jet Ranger brings back memories....I wanted one of those when I was about 14 years old. (for my first helicopter) As I remember it was really expensive back then and you needed to be an expert to fly one.My father told me if I joined a local RC club he would think about it. The club had no helicopter pilots and put the scare of flying them into me.
Well years later I bought my first bird..the Concept 30 and self taught myself to fly.
hey thanks for the video... can somebody help me? i have a trex 450 and a dx6i.. almost everything works ok but the swach mix doesnt work.. what can i do on the radio to it makes the swach mix?
hello sir, i have a cp pro and i cant get it to do much more than bounce on an air cushion. this pitch/ throttle curve did the same. brand new battery 800Mah, any thoughts?
I just wanted to ask if you know about dx6i power setting. What does the number A-EU 328 and B-US 247 stuff mean? I know it is somehow a power rating but how much? Any exact idea about the transmitter range with such power rating of Spektrum dx6i?
Hi i have a century hawk pro with a os 37 engine, what is the best pitch curve and blade angle for it also how do u get the pitch angle with . out adjusting the lenght of the rodsHow do u start with the process with numbers do u have at the top and bottom, please let me know thanks mike
If your just going to practice hovering and nothing fancy, it makes hovering less sensitive. You can always try it, just make sure to do all 3 servos the same. Good luck.
that being said once the head rotor looses rmps yes the pitch needs to be set higher... hope your following... im going to try something in a day or too now and see if it works better... im going to set the pitch for mid and higher the same in both idle up a hold and every thing below mid im going to increase the pitch to comp for the slowing of the rotor... if that dosent work ill go back and set them the same... lol thanks for the thoughts...
i had to think about what i said before about the hold settings again.. lets start here if you in the air coming down to land.. flip the hold... with your increase of pitch it will jump up just a bit.. that makes me think that what every body else said before is right have them the same hold and idle up...
normal mode and idle up pitch should be set at 50 which should be 0degrees this keeps the hellp from jumping up when going for norm to idle up.. thats what i would tell everybody
i also had to think about you pitch curve here for stunt and hold... they say they should be the same but after looking at yours id say yours is better because... going to hold instantly you will loose rpm so to compensate for this its probably better to increase the pitch setting up above the stunt mode pitch setting like your chart shows... id never thought about this until i seen this vid.
i like to fly some in normal mode.. ive got 14 minutes out of a battery 2150 mah before with a 60 mid stick setting, but i dont like the jump from 60 in normal mode to 90 in idle up... i notice that your mid stick settings are different... to fix the jump it is recommended that throttle up in normal mode and have that and setting the same mid stick as the idle up setting.. this will allow a smooth transition from norm to idle up..
i was looking at your chart for your settings... its not wrong by any means.. most factory settings are similar to that id say.. i will say align is like that...
Wow those settings are significantly different from mine. I think this is largely a matter of personal preference. I'm going to stick with my 100% flat idle-up throttle curves :)
Can you say what is the difference between V-shaped idle-up throttle curves, and flat throttle curves... most of the people at the club here in Denver run it flat at 90-100% on electrics. What is the effect of the V-shape curve?
Its the MAS 3 Point technique from years ago and my fave. I dont use expos, half rates or headinglock gyros, as I learned without them, and dont need them now. SO it is a simple matter of -9, 0 Degreese center, +9 on the top. See Rotory magazine on line to find out more. About Mike Mas' technique. I don't usually like my throttle wide open when inverted, personally.
why would anybody want to fly with 100% it not needed it just going to run the battery down faster. 75 80 90 is just fine for an electric... you do what you want... every thing on that seting is going to get hotter then needed esc battery bearings... that just unneeded stress... as far as clubs go it reminds me of the blind leading the blind here...
Actually the motor runs more efficiently at the higher speed - a unique property of brushless motors. You can verify this by checking flight times and battery capacity used, and your ESC will run cooler as well. Changing speed uses bursts of power (acceleration is increased). Here in Colorado we run bigger props on planes and higher speed on helicopters to deal with thinner air. I use governors to help keep the speeds constant. I am going to try it the other way though and see if I like it.
the v curve is mainly for hard 3 d.. it will allow for quick response and fast stops and quick movements. it conserves power and uses it only when needed.. thats what its for... but to set a curve at 100 percent does cover all that but is a waste...
No longer able to make it because of EPA Sorry. It was the most famous Car polish in So Cal for 20 years too. Der Shiney Stuff was the name of the gloss coating for paint and plexiglas. It could be put on in the sun and wiped off with just bare hand even on glass with no streaks. It was a detailers dream. But damn Govt!
WOW! That's ridiculous! I would think that any substance that was "food grade" could hardly be harmful to the Ozone or any other part of the environment. It's almost as ludicrous as all of the "anti-idling laws" that I am faced with in more and more states, which started here in CA! I had to buy an APU for 6k just so I could stay comfortable in harsh weather! Good grief!
I just saved these curves on my computer. Surprisingly, most of your curves are a fair amount different from what finless bob suggests. I'll try yours in comparison to what he uses.
im just new into outdoor rc helis dave...and im wanting to get a 6 channel honey bee king 2...but the only expierence that ive had is with an indoor 2 channel revell firestrike pro...so what should i start out with Dave? HBK2?
I say "Learn on a VW and if you never crash it, then get the Porsche and read my 9 heli flying tips, if you got em.
Those Trex's, Belt CPs, Blade 400s HB Kings or other 3d helis are definitely not a beginners helis, even if you already are good with coaxials.
Get something that you can learn on like a Honeybee Mk3 Fixed Pitch or CP2 as a step up from that. . In the long run, you will save more time and money.
RCMASTER33 i got a Walkera 4G1B up for sale RTF $120. It has been used but all you have to do is replace the aileron servo in it and it will run great.
The stunt mode feature is the same thing as idle up for 3d flying correct?

i had a quick question for you... does the dx6i work with the blade sr 120??
rwoods1985 10 months ago
@rwoods1985 Yes, it does. If I am not mistaken, all of the Blade helis use Spektrum tech.
