He was a sexual abuser who raped his three daughters (when they were children), his two sisters, his housemaids and (unbelievably) his pet dog. He never showed any regret for doing these things and even kept a diary of all these events. Gill sans morals.
You can celebrate the work without celebrating the man. Although he definitely was an interesting character for his time.
