Kid Charlemagne! I was looking for Blackface sound clips for the exact purpose of getting a Steely Dan sound and yours was the first video I clicked on. That's so great.
In 1968 I played lead in a band thru 2 Showman tops and 6 homemade bottoms, 6 - 12's, 6 - 15's, the bass player had the same setup, we each had three bottoms on opposite sides of the stage...the best time of my life...then I was drafted into the army...from heaven to hell...thanks for the sweet tone reminder !
i have an all original 65 showman with the oversized cab. are they spose to break up like none other when they are fully cranked. with my les paul it just screams
great demo. I had the same model for my keyboards back in the early 80's. You should have heard the Clavinet through this amp with 2 JBL D130's. Wish I didn't sell it.
That things Got TONE TO THE BONE. what cab & speakers are you playing through ? Even over the computer it sounds good. BTW, keeping it was a good choice.
They are gems for live use, great for recording too, wonderful pedal partners, beautiful cleans also for home use... I honestly can't think of a disadvantage, except the fact that you must find a decent cabinet.
I would hold on to it if I were you. I also want to sell an amp that I have (financial and practical reasons), and a big part of me will go with it.
i have exactly the same amp and i plugged myself into the first input of the normal channel and I ran a cable from the second input of the normal channel to the first input of the vibrato channel. It gives you lot more gain. I cranked at 10 both volume and it gave me a really nice overdriven sound!
Just finished a Point to Point Conversion on my Deluxe Reverb...A Master's Degreed Electronic Engineer (FENDER GURU) Austin, Texas that knows his shit did the work. He installed a HEYBOER SUPER REVERB UPGRADE OUT-PUT TRANNY on this Amp and the Bass is to DIE FOR! Mid Boost, Presence & Bright Switch, Reverb Dwell mounted in rear pannel. KILLER!
This is a fantastic example of the miles of clean headroom and fantastic bottom end that only a Showman can give you. It takes pedals really well too.
Actually, the gain is coming from an Ibanez TS-10 and a Danelectro Fabtone. But this amp is the perfect clean tone for overdrive and distortion pedals.

I never liked the sound of a Fender pushed with any pedal but a clean boost.

My dad's got one of these, great amps. They're hard to find in good condition, I guess that's a reason why they're so pricey.

I own a 63' blond version. It rules. Showmans fuckin' rock.

Hi, Might be interested, do you still got it? If yes is it still $600 +shipping (BTW how much to france?)
guillou59 4 years ago
Had a showman many years ago, could get a perfect Cream sound out of it. $600 is reasonable--these are getting some very high dollars these days!
