When I play solo I usually record the shot just in case I hit the Ace, I started doing that when I started hitting lots of Aces. Not that I have so much time on my hands, more like I make time by giving up sleep to play whenever I can. Thanks for the comment.
If I am playing solo and have lots of time to play I will usually set up the camera behind the basket on holes in my range and play the hole. If I get an Ace I have the footage, if not I move on to the next hole. I don't always film when I play solo but I frequently do. Thanks for the comment.
dude u are the best, how often do u get out to play disc golf? i really wish i was as good as you, someday i hope i will get an ace, but i go about 3 times a week, so im hoping i will get one soon, u really are an inspiration. u rock
Hi Cubby, nice ace. How did you know to have the camera rolling for that shot? Or do you normally film your shots "just in case" you hit and ace?
You should try the new course up in Devens, Mass. I think you would like it. It is very challenging, in the woods on a hill with big rock outcrops all over and of course tons of trees.
In 2005 I had my best year for Aces 25. I started to hit aces fequently in 2006 and for a perid of time my Disc Golf side kick Big John had stopped playing. I decided that whenever I was playing solo that I would bring a lightweight tripod with me and my digital camera and maybe capture some aces when I hit one. No one believes I ace even with the video, Big John is now out of Disc Golf retirement, but I still bring the camera when I play solo. I hope to get up to Devens in the fall.
I don't have weekends off in my current job so I don't compete in PDGA tournaments anymore. I used to keep my membership current so I could go to the worlds. I've played enough Disc Golf with others for them to know that my aces are 100% genuine and for those that don't know me I can't do much about what they think about my Aces nor do I care. I just enjoy playing Disc Golf and devote lots of time on and off the course to making my game the best it can be. Congrats on your aces.
cubby, you need to road trip to illinois sometime...tons of challenging courses. great vids, watching them gives me hope that someday i will have an ace. LOL...keep up the good work
Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoy the videos. Hope you get an Ace real soon. Wish I could get to Illinois to play but with my job I work 6 days a week includingg weekends with no summer vacation possible. Get out and play as often as possible!
my ace was flawless. there were trees every where and i threw a sidearm oragnde sidewinder. it hit no trees and hit the pole in the middle of the chains. 304 foot hole.
Ace or no Ace, Disc Golf is FUN! Don't focus on Aces, just have fun playing. Your Ace will come some day. The fun is the pursuit not the accomplishment.
From March 3 2006 through 2 March 2007, I played Disc Golf on 134 out of 365 days, during that period of time I got 116 Aces. I played anywhere from 5-10 rounds each day on average. I hope that info is what you are looking for as I did not keep track of what days I played from January and February of 2006.
Some days were one or two rounds and on a max day 10. If I had to come up with a an average rounds per day it would be 3 rounds times 134 days equals 7,236 holes. An Ace every 3.46 rounds. If the average was 5 rounds per day it would be an Ace every 5.77 rounds. But then you get a day like June 27, 2006 when I got 6 Aces in one day to defy the averages.

Do you record every tee shot you throw? These videos are amazing. How do you have that much time on your hands?

2006 was a great year with 111 Aces. Ocotber was the month with the most Aces 18. In 2007 I have 42 to date.
DiscGolfer 4 years ago
by my math there were about 3 months between number 125 and 160...35 aces in 3 months?

Thanks! It's nice when people look for the best in others not the worst. Hope to catch you on the course someday.

I've watched a lot of your ace videos and read your blogs. I'm curious how many holes of disc golf you played in 2006 (your 100+ aces year)?
