He's the best....but its not like its complicated .....anybody can do that with talent and having a drum set around...oh and not to mention having a Dennis chambers around .......
Tony is the best drummer I believe he has almost everything even a little mettle like he would destroy any drummer especially heavy mettle drummers because they all tend to do the same they are wack
@raokin466 Nothing is better than Evans. I have Evans Ambassador(white) on all heads of my set, and I use the EMAD dampening ring for my bass drum. Sounds fucking awesome.
@zepfan51 I see. i am currently using the ec2s on my toms. but im not sure of which evans heads to use on my snare as i hav been using remo's weatherking. Any suggestions?
@Drumzmer555 I would suggest a Evans Genera HD Dry Head. It's a 2 ply head with an aggressive rimshot and a balanced response. That's what I use. Then tune the snare a little tighter than usual, and do not tighten your snare stand.
@Drumzmer555 Never used them. Sorry dude. I may have used them a couple times when playing different drum sets, but not enough to have an informed opinion.
wow!......very nice..........love it so much.....can u teach me how you does those things... here is my face book account..... i willing to learnn..... johanceneciro@yahoo.com
@fuckin88er lol that's not what i meant you retard. I meant like what kind of wood because different brands of snares use different woods and some snares sound different then others asshole
@barneylover64 haha. Well why did'nt you say so? It does'nt sound like copper, steel, etc, and the only woods professionals use are Mapel, or Bubinga. Lot's of black dudes dig Mapel pop snares. Look into that. Pork Pie is a good example of a pop snare. The type of head he is using is clearly a 2 ply batter head. Probably an Aquarius.
@fuckin88er yeah it sounds like a maple i have a maple right now and it gets good crack and I've played on a steve jordan signature snare and that got amazing crack but everytime i hear tony royster play his snare that he uses just seems to get the most pop
@barneylover64 try tuning it even tighter than usual. Use a nut wrench to get it tighter than you would with a drum key. Also, sticks affect tone as well. Fuck around with lighter and thinner sticks like a long 7a. Usual the lighter the stick the more pop you can get.
i can´t believe it,,,,this a really god gift,,its very funny that some people take the serious words to compare this guy with other drummers,,,no one can compare to this boy....
@cpcc1983 your fucking crazy as hell! tony is way faster and more technical! chris coleman has not been playing as long and cant play anywhere near as many styles of music
@mrsmithcolin175 How long have u been. Im not saying Tony is no good, he was better as a kid. Chris is better. He has been playing since he was 2. he is 30 now. Get ur facts right, moron. Tony is only 24. In case ur as dumb as u act. Chris has been playing 28 years. So i would def say he has been playing as long idiot. And another thing. Clean up ur language. There r kids on here looking at this. U really show how smart u r..
lol... you just have to spend hours practicing, everyday. Thomas Lang is white and kicks anyone's ass anytime. Consistency, perseverance, and practice.
Show me a video of Alex Lopez doing this better than Tony Royce....and I'll believe you. Drumming isnt about speed........it's about technique. Just because you can play a death metal beat at 350 beats per minute doesnt make you a good drummer. Every see Tommy Lee try to be a marching band drummer? Barely pulled it off.....
@MonsieurBlindWitness come on man the drummer of Suicide Silence can not beat Tony at drums. not that thats what its all about but what an idiot comment to write. I listen to that band and hes good and all but tony pwns his arse anyday.
It depends on what. Mitch had better hands and made better music. And Mitch had the most amazing creativity in a song. Not that Tony doesn't have it of course. But Tony has amazing feet, and has been soloing since he was a little kid. So?
@legaeldan Youre probably right there. He's got his foot right at the shallow end of the base-plate and it looks as though he's hitting once, hitting again off the rebound, then hitting again. Pretty cool!
@legaeldan Ya, when I first saw this video like 2 or 3 years ago I was amazed by his foot technique. Shortly after I learned about the Moeller Technique and I associated it with his feet as well.
its not a heel toe. its a slide technique. however, you dont learn it as a slide technique. more of a drop and lift. drop your whole foot down for 1 stroke, then lift and point your toe for the second stroke. when you get more comfy with it, the 1st stroke is just just the ball of your foot, then second is lift onto your toe. takes some getting used to and you have to stay real loose.
the actual slide technique is using the angle of the pedal to your advantage. for instance, if you attack your first stroke in the center or at the back, the next stroke is just a slide (or kick) up the pedal away. he does this a few times. its not something most people teach, rather they kinda do it without knowing it.
I remember Tony from a long time ago, when he was a small child, playing along with (and much better than) the famous Dennis Chambers (who I hate, by the way!!). Tony is a legend!!!
hes got mad chops, but like, common...none of it is musical...look at him playin with Jay Z...thats what writes checks, solid, musical, effortless groove supporting a band...none of this stuff...
Macdo2741, you got it. No doubt. It all comes back to groove. Holding down a solid pocket is what's gonna get you paid. Apparently, this is not an easy task for a lot of these drummers out there. After all the chops, they lack the ability to play a simple unwavering pocket. Uncourse, I'm not referring to Tony, because he can play pocket all day. But don't let the flash fool you when it comes to drums. A question I'll always ask is; let me hear you groove.
at the end It looks like the video is sped up haha. I know its not but I'm just saying. That ultra fast double bass notes at the end sounds like a car about to start or something. Rediculously fast. like 64th notes haha
Yeh man. People can have specific shoes they use for set. Like mine are mostley puma's his apparantley are wrestling shoes because that is how he can get the most speed and cleanliness.
Pretty neat, pretty fucking nice work. Yet, saying he is the fastest is ridiculous, since many metal drummers are faster! But in its own right, very outstanding indeed!
The end of this solo is definitely the most jaw dropping thing I have watched on drums next to Dennis Chambers. Wow.
