The fly didnt actually die. The water blocked the tubes that the fly uses to breathe,which makes the fly lose consciousness. The salt draws water out of the tubes so it can breathe again.

This is an illusion, the fly doesn't actually die. It actually goes into a sort of hibernation state. Insects aren't like humans, they can survive for long times without oxygen because they need so little of it.
