  • the legend of 13bt swaps has no videos of his fb on here? wtf?

  • Lol, I came here trying to learn about Rotary Subwoofers.

  • i'm a v8 fanboy... but props are due when props are due. you can't beat that power to displacement ratio.

  • and life goes on

  • rotary engines are the best. i love them sooo much. the idiot thats paying them out can shove his norman piston engine up his arse

  • hahaha..... "rorary" ...ha..haha...hahahaha lol

  • i literally thought the guy was a southpark character lol

  • thank you for posting this video, it was educational

  • lol thats wrong! we all know rotary engines work off of magic!

  • man learning is awesome. i don't know shit about cars, but now at least i know something.

  • As a ford technician I dont know a whole lot about rotaries except for the industry material i read and hear say. But from what I gather rotary engines tend to have seal failures much more often than conventional engines and also their expected lifespan from the manufacturer is far less. That being said, their large power to weight ratio makes them formidable on the track. or road

  • the biggest reason people say rotaries are unrelable is because most of the poeple do not keep up with the required regular maintenance on the engines. people buy rotaries without knowing shit about cars all together. I have a highly modified 3rd gen rx7 and its my daily driver. I do oil changes every 3000, and check the oil level every 1500. I change my plugs every 9000. car runs like a champ.

  • @toucanrazor Im not talking about the 'big metal rotor' or housing, the Rotary tip seal, and the crankshaft are the parts which are more likely to break, Since the rotor isn't on a single pivot point, it vibrates and adds un-even pressure to certain parts of the engine, thus causing wear.

  • guy sounds like someone from south park

  • "With fewer moving parts, most rotary engines are more reliable"

100% LIE. The more power you have, the more stress is put on the engine, with more moving parts, the power is distributed to those moving parts, but with rotary engines, there is less parts, thus causing more stress on the specific parts of the engine. Rotaries DO make more power because of using less parts meaning less power is needed to pass, but in theory make them less reliable than a cylinder based engine.

  • I owned a 1974 RX-4 station wagon, and it was drop dead easy to work on. Had dual coils, dual carbs, and went like a bat out of hell.

If you've never driven, let alone owned, a rotary engine vehicle, you really haven't got any idea what you're talking about. all you're doing is blowing someone else's smoke out your ass.

about the only engines I can think of that are anywhere near as much fun to drive and work on are straight sixes.

and if you disagree, I really don't care.

  • Yes i agree this engine is better then a piston engine in alot of places but if u get a car with one in it your fucked, parts for these things cost ALOT and if u require a mechanic to maintain the engine goodluck because I know there's no one in my town that can work on them. In the end a piston engine is the way to go

  • @pubetree177 if you're a real hot rodder, you learn your car and do your own work. end of story.

  • what'a genius mind....

  • One of the reasons they can't pass US emission standards is because u gotta mix a lubricant with the gas to protect the apex seals.(COUGH COUGH!!) Lots of friction too with apex seals of rotor tips, not to mention the friction associated with the side seals. Their are more complications to a Wankel engine than eluded to in the vid. Spark timing of the 2 plugs is not equal either. I'll just keep my piston engine, thank you. And if it breaks I'll go to the nearest parts store and fix it.

  • Huh

  • oh the comentator forgot one thing... rotary engine are less fuel efficient

  • Why does everyone hate on the wankel?.. I love the rotary engines, and the technology and design are brilliant! I also get that they're unreliable. But like any other car, if you take care of it, it'll take care of you. If regular maintenance is your problem with the rotary, then ride a god damn pedal bike, haha. And somebody on here said they'd stick to their "LS1"? first things first: 1.3L wankel should equal roughly 2.4L V6. Yes, a V6, not a V8. I repeat. A V6, not a V8. It's easy to say tha

  • @x0xSPOONSx0x 63,000 miles of pedal to the floor on my RX8, maybe about 5,000 of that on a real racetrack, not even a hint of being worn out, never had any problems. In fact if your considering an RX8, dont even worry about the wankel, the engine is great, the rest of the car wasnt exactly designed so well around it. ive replaced stereo componants and the sunroof motor twice.

  • What is a YouTube ??

  • Bahaha, look at all you guys trolled by some random hater. There's always going to be people who spout shit about things they don't understand, don't worry about their opinions. Everyone who likes rotaries know their inherent advantages and disadvantages. Personally I think these motors have their place and should be respected for it; it is a brilliant concept in design.

  • brilliant proven concept this contraption is ....

can turbo / super charge this engine ?

  • @lolahavasuaz - You sure can. In fact the second and third generation RX-7's came with turbochargers from the factory. The 3rd gen used a twin turbo setup! Some guys with RX-8's use superchargers as well.

You can also get 3 rotor engines... :D

  • this "junky" engine is "junk". This video makes me think of "junk" also, "junk junk junk".

Does anyone else hear that? Oh well, its probably just a bunch of "junk".

    Some people.....

  • 21 people forgot to change the seals.

  • @aji8 ya, well im going to the Hoshi station to pick up some power converters, so suck that!

  • Comment removed

  • doesnt the compressed gas stop the intake of new gas?is it because the intake pressure is higher than the pressure of compressed gas? if so then doesnt that make it quite a thirsty engine?

  • if money weren't in issue if you could build one out of say titanium (i know i know not many people have that kind of cash to just drop on an engine but its an idea) then it really wouldn't wear out and would need very little maintenance hell could go 10k miles for next oil change then again if you had that kind of money why the hell would you drive an rx8?

  • @aftoyboy No it wouldn't, because titanium would wear out the housings and side plates extremely quickly, the tolerances are just far to small for it to be made out of titanium

  • @Allianceowns i didn't think of that being that titanium is such a hard metal it would be very tough to get the metal into a very specific measurement good call

  • 1:50 to 1:55. Fuck yeah =D

  • Love my RX-8!

  • not fuel efficient!!!

  • @davecolombia power efficient though

  • wow...great

  • haha he mentioned reliability

  • @nathanong87 Yes indeed, but that's a confusion to people because the rotary engine has less components in it compares to piston engines, so every component in the rotary engine has to handle more pressures which cost them to wear out faster than conventional engines, otherwise it's a very reliable engine.

  • I just noticed, the exhaust never really leaves the engine 100%

  • @BYCURE213

its sometimes recycled thru the EGR valve i think...someone correct me if am wrong.... I know the exhaust fumes on my jetta (95) were "recycled" back into the intake port.

  • @WallyWaldoWeb but doesnt that lower cumbustion? i mean theoretically, burned exhaust cant be burned again

  • @BYCURE213 - ditto piston engines, especially two-stroke.

  • @JBofBrisbane true :/

  • REAL Free energy technology exists! But Millions are spend in supressing that information,Get the blueprints for a free energy motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,take part in the revolution!

  • @urgencyharviefcem - if it was true, someone would have made it by now, suppressed information or not.

  • What the real shame is that this engine is German made and the patents were snatched up by some one else. I bet this engine would've been in BMWs had they kept the patents.

  • Please watch:

    SUPER-EFFICIENT ENGINE Newest Design

  • @Z28Racer - Google "NSU Ro80".

  • dam what bought a haters.. rotary engines lack power but excel in every performance event thats in drifting racing excluded drag racing .. but rotary is a beast since people came up with a new idea of a engine i dont see you doin that anything time soon

  • My freind had a RX8, it was such a good car to drive but the fuel consumption was really bad. shame really

  • This may be a dumb question but I have to ask it.... Would a rotary work with diesel fuel? all you need is compression and there you go, more torque which rotaries lack and better MPG's

  • @adamslurch71 Thought about it myself but you need a huge amount of compression to generate enough heat to ignite diesel, so i doubt it...

  • @ScotchRB30DET Yet there's no record of anyone trying, how else would you know if it works until you try?

  • @adamslurch71 Good point, would be interesting, although id say it would be a pretty pointless motor as one of a diesel motors strong points is the torque they develop, a rotary doesnt deliver much down low.

Still, would be a fun project.

  • @ScotchRB30DET True but whose to say that run it runs diesel it doesn't produce hte low down torque? gas piston engines are the same compare to a diesel piston engine, at about 1400-1700 rpm you have max torque in a diesel but you have to wait until usually over 4000 rpm for a gas engine of the same size. diesel will make up the lack of torque but yes you will lose horsepower, I still thinks is a fai trade off.

  • Please watch:

    SUPER-EFFICIENT ENGINE Newest Design

  • this engine cannot popular because very high in mantenance and fuel consumtion

  • That engine should have been redesigned in 2006.

  • Where? Hmm try those funny cars at the drags. They have piston engines and can turn times no rotary could ever touch. AND make the HP as previously stated.

  • @Z28Racer A 6 second 1/4 time for a rotary isnt bad and they can achive it . Ive had many Camaros a T/A's and would get pissed when a beater looking 80's model rx7 would spank the shit out of my LT-1 v8's .

  • @Z28Racer Just use Google and you will find them.. Rotarys are fkn fast, some of them are in the 6sec 200mph region.. with engines between 1300cc to 2000cc !! Tuners from US, Australia and Puerto rico are really good. research how much power you need to run a 6! facts are facts. Total domination at Lemans before they stopped rotarys.. The Jaguar and their sponsors Silk cut, probably wanted to get rid of the rotarys after this extrem humiliation.

  • LoL!

  • I don't see rotary engines making 5000+ HP on a drag strip. Rotary engine would blow up before it could ever get there.

  • @Z28Racer where you found 5000 HP? In your dreams. Or that car with propellers on roof? Tires would not be able to handle that much.

  • I meant since I thought I corrected that but it didn't go through

  • The technology is cool and all, but the RX-8 is one of the slowest, most torqueless cars I've ever driven in my life. I'll stick to my LS1.

  • that's not a rotary engine, but a wankel engine.

Rotary engine where used on prior ro wwII airplanes.

    something completly different

  • @naturalyshocked No, you are thinking of the radial engine, which is of course a piston engine with multiple cylinders arranged around the periphery of a crankcase. The rotary engine is sometimes called the Wankel, after Felix Wankel, the inventor of the design. In the same way that the compression ignition engine is called a Diesel.

  • The seals are lubricated my mechanical oil injection into the engine to keep the apex seals sliding along nicely, that is why rotarys burn oil. This is why they need a minor service at least every 5000 km's.

If you want even more protection then you run premix when you fill up your car with fuel before you use the bowser you add in a certain ratio of 2 stroke oil then fill it up. Plenty of other methods as well to keep your rotor in good shape if you want to be pedantic

  • nice :)

  • its too bad. Mazda's canceling RX-8 production in the US

  • Watch the rotary rebuild vid also as that one is the most important vid if you own a rotary junk engine.

  • @aji8

You are a very sad individual. You've posted numerous comments on this video bitching about how rotary engines are junk. Sadly, you can't give any facts as to why they are junk. And don't try to pander to me about common sense, because common sense says that your mom should have swallowed you.

  • @aji8 jesus christ you need to get a life, i stopped laughing at your homosexual rants after 5 comments. How much spare time do you have to post like 100 comments on ONE youtube video ! i doubt you even HAVE a car lmao. il will delete your faggot reply regardless

  • WARNING!!...........This video carries an infection...........its called the aji8 bullshit bug.....careful now.....its contagious!!!

  • @Wankellover may i borrow this .. and paste it on every post that fuckwit makes ?

  • @rxi11 Of course you can...........spread the love!!!

  • @Wankellover wait.. what? this one flew way over my head... explain plz

  • @Wankellover Fuck theres like 45290459459459490490359045980034 comments from him just on this video alone =/

  • @RealFix Rotorarys tend to have More HP per cubic inch then a piston engine. but a piston engine with comparable hp will be making more tourqe

  • @shadowhunter45s

Rotary engines are junk and if you know anything about internal combustion engines you wouldn't say what you do. Another rotary idiot, go figure.LOL

  • how they rate the engines CC is a lie.

  • it's amazing how much power they can get out of a 1.3L rotary such as the RX7's... imagine a 5.0L rotary.. it would be the loudest meanest motor ever.

  • lol that would be a monster..... 5L would run out of gas so fast lol

  • 144,000 miles on mine and going strong. Its my daily driver.

1.3 liters is under 80 cubic inches. Not many other cars come close to that much power in such a small package. Port it and a turbo, Nothing will come close.

    Lol Output shaft???

  • The details in this engine animation are so faking wrong!

The placement of the spark plugs is wrong.... this engine will never rotate if it is built according the animation!

The way how they have placed the spark plugs the rotation will happened more likely backwards or will not happened at all!

  • They don't even point out that it's a Wankle engine not just a normal rotary.

  • @goru426 then how does it work??

  • i know this stuff , i like the engine design.

  • Down in new zealand, lots of boy racers are big on 12a and 13b rotary's, shit we put em in anytihng, van's, old school mazda's, utes.

  • @jamthetoast How about a Fiat Niki 126? ;)

  • Fuck that. we dont get many fait's and shit down here.

  • all i have to is get a rotary engine car from 1990 and no emission shit

  • @30GB what did u just say??

  • never mind

  • i wonder if you could get a rotary engine to fit on a crotch rocket, lol, emagine how fast that would be...

  • Holy fuck........I'd buy that shit

  • @racemachine77 search "Norton F1"

  • So.. I'm kinda nooby at all this auto stuff. I heard a con for the rotary engine -- that it eats up more fuel because the cycle is a little slower than a piston engine. And also that the compression is not as strong as the piston.

Is any of this true? Yes? No? Both?

  • it preforms all 3 cycles at once, making a continuous cycle, so it ends up using more gas because its constantly burning and using fuel.

  • probably better in cars,boats, & aircraft

  • Funny hey that piston race engines are fully built just racing. Forged pistons, rods, valves, camsharfts, heads, block actually the whole engine is not from the production car.

But the thing is 90% of mazdas le mans engine was built with production parts, they got two standard engine and bolted them together for a total of 2.6litres.

  • This video too? Cool, it's like the 15th or 16th your on talking crap. Get a Life already you dumb bitch

  • If your worried aboul feul consumption then go buy a Toyota prius.

  • or you can just get a real engine and have power and mileage instead of depending on the junk rotary engine.

  • a real engine like what a big v8 that chews 1 liter of fuel for every mile it drives and as for power rotary engines can pull out a crap load of HP for the size they are. a 5lt v8 makes what around 350HP with a some work you can get that out of a 1.3lt rotary. gotta love the Brap Brap Brap

  • The rotary sucks and uses way more fuel. Your brap brap sounds like shit and they don't last under that h.p. level,

  • are you aji8 bum boy or sumthing.why are rotarys shit explain i have no problems with mine.the only problem you mite have is that they are faster than a v8

  • they are shit , i just hate them , i had own an RX8 recently and i had sold it within a month , the engine is shit , is not fast at all , only have a lot of torque , i regret loosing my money on buying it , rotary engine will remain shit , and it consume a lot of fuel , im now driving a BMW supercharged 325i , and its a lot better than the shit RX8 , and dont write shit about rotary engine being more powerful than v8 , my uncle BMW M5 V8 e39 is faster than my previous RX8

  • I see you know your stuff. Yes the rotary is garbage. It is a novelty engine and nothing more. Congrats on the 325i. I have driven those cars and like them very much.

  • thx lol , im was also trying to make these foolsss to understand that rotary engine are shits

  • They will understand when they repeatedly have to take the engine in to have it rebuilt.

  • u fucken knob the rx8 engine i agree isint fast and they dont really have that much torque compared to a piston.you shuld go buy and old school rota and port it or turbo port it if you want a fast rotary.the rx8 wasint made as a performance car dush

  • Comment removed

  • lol ,you didnt understand what i was trying to say in my previous coments , i was talking about the feeling of the car when accelerating , and to turbo an old school rota is only a things that a fool like you would do to waste your money , for your info , rotary engine uses a lot lot lot of fuel , and you are telling me to turbo it , are you mad ?, anyway i have supercharged my 325i recently , and its lot more powerful and fuel eco than a turbo rotary engine

  • @yaaseen555 the engine in the RX8 is a 1.3L engine. so it's tiny.

the engine in an M5 is massive.... so OF COURSE it's faster you dumbass.

however, if there were two engines of equal displacement (one rotary, one piston) then the rotary would be far more powerful, because purely going on power-to-displacement ratio, a rotary engine wins.

  • @purklefluff What are you talking about you idiot? there's a very good reason why rotary engines aint used for anything but microlights. They are grossly under powered for their displacement. Their only virtue is being physically small. The RX8 has a 3.9L engine and only produces 225bhp, the M5 has a 5.0L and produces 500bhp. Only Mazda are pursuing rotarys as a gimmik.

  • @Manoo62 hey man. the RX8 has a 1.3 litre engine. and i'm pretty sure from my own experience and research that rotary engines produce more horsepower for their displacement than your average piston engine. you say their only virtue is being physically small? how about only having three moving parts? how about being more rotationally efficient due to not having to pull pistons forwards and backwards? i dunno man. i'm not sure you're looking at the facts quite right.

  • @Manoo62 RX8 ROTARY ENGINE 3.9 LITERS?!?! LMAO!!! ITS 1.3L where the fuck did u come up with that? go troll somwhere else.

  • @cooly87 Why dont you do your homework before running your mouth retard. Google 'Rotary Engine Displacement' the first site to come up will be rx7.com/ techarticles_displacement where you will find something to educate you. I assume you can read??

  • @Manoo62 i think YOUR the one that cant read. i should know about the rotary engine. i own an fc myself

  • @cooly87 HAHAHA thats even worse, you own a RX7 and you still dont know what you are talking about, what an idiot.

  • @Manoo62 Actually it would be 3.9 liters if you were doing the equation for a piston engine but that really doesn't make since now does it sense this engine doesn't have pistons so you use a different equation so I suggest you study more on the subject

  • @nitsua720 It might not have pistons but its got six chamber and they'er all 654cc each, can you add up?

  • @purklefluff Its a common mistake, the RX8 has a swept volume of 3.9L for one revolution of the engine, period. For comparison to a 4 stroke engine they apply the 2/3 rule so they are generally regarded as 2.6L. But we dont do that with 2 stroke engines so why do we with rotary's? Its because they are less efficient than a 2 stroke engine so its a good smoke screen to disguise the fact. Rotary's have been around for 60 years and yet have virtually no applications for a good reason, there crap.

  • The only V8s that you are faster than are the ones in Grand Marquis with an 80 y.o. behind the wheel. Your engine is a joke.

  • @aji8 what's your problem with the rotary? Seems like a perfectly wonderful engine to me. Better than A V or Flat if you ask me >.>

  • @trombonekingdom

If you think the engine is wonderful, you are a lost cause and nothing I can say could get through your ignorant brain.

  • @aji8 yeah you're a dumbass, I'll just leave now before you infect me with your ignorance

  • @trombonekingdom

You should worry about your own ignorance as it is the dangerous one.

  • @aji8 i'd be interested to hear your actual reasons for stating that the rotary engine is a "bad" engine.. and i don't want any unsupported opinions or bullshit, i mean actual reasons.

i mean, from where i'm sitting, looking at two set ups (2-cylinder four-stroke piston engine and two-rotor rotary engine) i can immediately state as absolute fact that the rotary is more efficient, delivers more power per cc of displacement, and has less moving parts. to me that sounds pretty good.

  • @purklefluff, I love rotarys! Granted they require a bit more care than a piston engine. But they are amazing if taken well care of!

  • says the guy who obioulsly has a life posting about an engine he doesn't like

  • I have a 5.8ltr v8 and a turbo rotary the v8 usess more fuel and is slower but it does sound good. pfft i'm gonna go now and see how well my v8 will last when i rev it to 8000rpm for like 10 mins. lol

  • That's the same thing I said, isnt aji8 the funniest hing you've ever seen? You claims to be an adult but i have doubts of that. He's been posting on all of these videos for MONTHS, he never stops

  • @jdmkombatjdm

Well you don't know what you are talking about as usual so your reality is way off.

  • @jdmkombatjdm

LOL.//./Neither do you moron. I guess you were too stupid to realize that though. However I do enjoy your idiotic posts so by all means keep being stupid.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH

  • THERE IS SOMETHING THAT HIS VIdEO DiD NOT SAID

ROTARY ENGINE DRINK FUEL LIKE A FERRARI V10 ENGINE,

AND FOR ALL THOSE WHO OWN THEM

GOOD LUCK ON EVERY FUEL STATION

  • yaaseen555 is correct too. That is another drawback of the rotary. They are very inefficient in the use of fuel and put out lots of emissions.

  • Get a rotary mechainic if you own of of these as you will need them over and over and over and over again.

  • find a great rotary mechanic u will own a great rotary its all in the tune ,not enough good rotary mechanics thats why people turn to v8s

  • care to point out why you say 'it's junk?'

  • Unreliable, poor torque output, uses oil like a 2 cycle, sounds bad, cooling system problems.

  • hey aji8 bitch...long time no talk..still talking shit on a engine you know nothing about.. why dont you got to rx7 club and spread your info.

  • i wanna see your car lets see your mighty v8, and you. i wanna see what kina person you are.

  • i wanna see your v8 post it up.. ive been asking you for vid or pic for months. you never supply. you just talk shit. you never owned any car dude, you just douche bag who doesn't know shit about any car. you're just loser who talks shit all day long on youtube, but NEVER backs up with facts. all you say is the engine is a weed whacker, it sucks, it has no power, we;re all rotards..wheres the facts? i wanna hear some real facts. your just some american inbred trailer trash who jerks off to v8s.

  • once again no facts..you say you back everything up with facts..yet we never see those facts...you continue to talk shit. dude the bottom line is my fc will take your v8 any day on track, pick a place and ill meet you..common im calling your pussy ass out.

btw..rx-mistake? did you say you own a rx7 with a v8 in it? if you think the car is ugly why the fuck you you buy one? just more BULLSHIT from AJI8.

  • hahaha that kid doesnt know crap, he's probably like 13, and looks up all his stuff on google.

  • aji8 Is like herpes, he just keeps coming back.

I bet Felix Wankel is looking down at you right now and smiling, because he knows what an ignorant little prick you are.

  • LOL...keep dreaming. His little engine is garbage and is not reliable. He knew the engines limitations, Too bad his ignorant rotard fans don't . LOL

  • lmao this aji8 guy actually goes to rotary videos to bash on them cause he has nothing better to do.

  • You said you have a FC but your put a V8 in it?

bro you dont know what yor talking about, your sad.
