  • I am catching up on vlogs. I must say the vlog of you in tent waiting out the storm was awesome. Good stuff. Like the crux of a short story...wish there was more of that kind of 'drama' but I am sure you do not. LOL. I can't wait to get out on my bike again this weekend. Thanks for the inspiration. Keep on three wheelin'...jo

  • This is another great video that encompasses many facets of bicycle touring. It is not all glory to travel by bicycle, but it may be the most rewarding to the adventurous and self-reliant individual.

  • @wrameyful thank you so much for the comment. I really like this video.... I like the beginning part

  • I'm sad to hear that you had such a bad experience with the roads in Iowa. I must say you picked the worst roads there are. You might just as well have ridden I-80.

Iowa DOT publishes a very good bicycle map. You can get these maps also in print at most bike shops. On this map skip any red road and you'll be a happy cyclist. There is no need on bike lanes on any of the low traffic road.

  • @DavidCousins thank you for the support David

  • Hi

  • @yogiakaltv Hello yogi

  • You need to start wearing sun blocker your face is totally red. Wish I would have started tracking you earlier this year . I would have invited you out for a beer at a nice

brew pub here in Lessburg Va.

  • Wow, a little weather drama. Reminds me of camping in Oshkosh in a tiny pup tent during a tornado warning. Glad you didn't have to test the strength of that shower building.

Thanks for taking the mystery out of your campground locating. I'm going to try that Google search when I plan one of my upcoming rides. Liked your artistic show of the shadow of the road.

  • @kaybikerow The google trick works like a charm... it's amazing how many places to camp there are in the US. I generally spend a couple of hours and can work out the route and places to stay for an entire state.

  • Hi Dave, 21:30 is an upland native Purple Prairie Clover. Since it's in the legume family it helps restore nitrogen to the soil. As you showcase, it prefers sandy to gravely soil structure and does not do well if disturbed. (Dalea purpurea)

  • @Mainsworth1730 thanks for the ID, it's a beautiful flower, and one the I've never seen before

  • Great video! Lot of flat land in Nebraska. This 4th I rode about 50 miles, that was in a hole lot of traffic here in city, freeway overpasses are like little mountains.lol. Huntington Beach had a KILLER parade, there must of been 200 thousand bikes down there. I don't care for Iowa myself! You'll like ride threw Neb. They have the old Western trail there. Where people traveled out west here on stage coach..Safe biking!

  • @Douger4u777 thanks Douger, I appreciate the feedback and glad you had fun on the 4th

  • i wounder what u r going to do after your trip is over i bet your perspective on life in general has changed

  • @tomyhill123 When I get home (Seattle) I am driving (I have to remember how to drive) to Idaho and go fishing until Oct and then I'm going to Florida to go fishing. I'll spend the winter in Key West. That's all my plans so far

  • i dont get it what makes stealth camping so tough in iowa

  • @tomyhill123 there are very few forests in Iowa, it's ALL cornfields and soybeans

  • @ThreeWheelJourney you know i have heard of people camping in front yards churches alleys fire houses all you have to do is ask

  • Thanks for another great video. With those temperatures stay hydrated and don't push yourself too much. Heat stroke can sneak up on you. Was also wondering about the weight loss and your general fitness level since you left. Take care and stay safe...

  • @fraziersutube I've lost weight. Go look at my first video to see the difference. I would say that I have attained "Touring muscles"..... which I'm going to need....there are 10,000 ft passes ahead of me

  • ill take the silver medal position,

it seems like quite a nice camp ground how's your health you seem to have lost a little weight and seem a little low You know your trip will be full of GOOD days & bad days push through focus only on the next stop the rest of the world will wait until you get home be safe im with you Michael S

  • @armouredcockroach Heath? excellent, Weight loss? some, Low? nope. I'm going to cross into Nebraska today and I am looking forward to this state, semi-flat and plenty of shoulder. Thank you Michael for following my journey

  • Hey! I got the podium today, first view, Dave! I like the little details you integrated into today's video, like the camera mount, braving the Iowa weather, and locating campgrounds. It will be nice to have road shoulders again, won't it?

  • @campy9sp hello Campy.... yeah I am looking forward to Nebraska. Today I am heading for a state park which is not far... I'm passing thru town and getting a haircut. Thanks!
