No, the Church did not turn it's back on her, SHE turned her back on the Church, left the consecrated life, sang about birth control, lived an openly homosexual lifestyle in opposition to Church teachings about such things. She opened a school for autistic childern, and should be commended for her work on that front. she was a victim of the madness of the time in which she lived, and came to this tragic end. Very sad. I offer my prayers for her soul.
I actually feel very bad for her. The Church turned their back on her and the government tried to get money beyond what it was already paid for. And between the church and the government, she got the short end of the stick. I hope that she found the peace and the glory that she deserves. She was a devoted woman of God.
