  • Yes,yes indeed it does look like Ian is doin da Chaleston.Properly what inspired this vid.

  • i love ian's dansing! this is so funny!!!!

  • sweeeet

  • One word: LOL

JD is my religion, but nothing's wrong with good old Atheism. Nice clip

  • Somebody needed to throw a pie or something

  • This is borderline sacrilegious, but inspired.

  • c'est pas drôle...

  • I love this! :)

  • cunt!.

It would have been funny if they had done some jazz.

  • He's the best dancer in the world because he makes you smile when you watch him.

  • I'd rather see a jazz band to joy division

  • how droll, nice bit of trad jazz like

  • Oh Dear

  • lighten up some of u, its fucking funny

  • haha awesome

  • ZERO

  • OMG!!

  • I'm sending the boys round for that not on at all is that.

  • wahahha, i love JD, but this is funny hahahah

  • some think it's funny. your mother was silly, you jprice431

  • Sick!

  • what was the whole fucking point of this?!?!?!

  • Do not speak ill of the dead. This surpasses irreverence.

  • fucking hater

  • haha Love it :) It IS funny, you have to admit it. I'm a fan of JD, I love their music and agree with everything bigabefree said.

We should stop making fool out of Ian, and when I say that I mean we should stop thinking of him as a tortured soul, who was ALWAYS soo depressed, and admit that at the start he was a "normal" person, liked fooling around, liked black humor, although he was ill and later depressed a lot. He doesnt deserve our pity, he was a human and not an object you can worship.

  • why people think this is an injure to JD...I love this band more than any other, its music is part of my life and i admire Ian so much....but this makes me laugh, and i guess so would Ian.

  • oh are you FUCKING kidding me?

    holy fuck

    get a life

and live Ian Curtis alone..its not like hes alive anymore or anything

  • it is silly, but it lives, the kids need to know about this man, for no one since has affected me so, he was cool without trying, in todays scene thats impossible, you do not have to glitter to be gold, and he proves that. all respect to him and his family, he deserves so much more than we could ever give.

  • ian wasnt always serious. if you read all the biographies he himself even said the way he dances is wacky.

when peter hook tried the dance in front of ian. ian started laughing because he thought it was funny.

but ian always knew that dance is what he really felt. that was his way of expressing his emotions

  • ian would have laughed out loud

  • hahahaha music fits the footage ! very funny !! lol

  • my gosh, it cracked me up... black humor!

  • What the FFFFFFFF? This is fucking shit, and a disgrace to JD. I wanna cry...

  • lighten up man !

    I was a fan since 1981

You got to leave it one day...

  • kind of silly...

  • I don't belive you did that. [2] simply that.

  • Laugh is cure.

  • I don't belive you did that.

  • Haha, Ian Curtis!

  • looool man this is so great, i seriously love joy division but this cracks me up, the trumpet sounds like my mother xD shes deaf so speaks like that trumpet lmao

  • This is hillarious.

    Brilliant.

Been a joy Division fan since 1979....been an Epilectic since god knows when...

    Relax fools...this is funny!

  • I just wasted 1 minute to see it and 20 seconds to reply: FUCK YOU!!

  • Pointless.

  • this is hilarious

  • i dont know whats so contraqvercial about it. its just a joke. pretty funny too

  • "Oh how could you?! The sheer blasphemous indecency!!" This is nothing to get upset about. It is simply a poorly edited but nontheless mildly amusing youtube video. I actually found people's reactions funnier than the video. Those offended by this probably mostly comprise of either uptight, ageing original fans with no sense of humour or a bunch of depressive teenagers who bum Joy Division way too much. Btw this comes from a devoted fan who loves and feels much indebted to their music.

  • Why?

  • what is this punk ass mutha fuckin bull shitttttuh!!!! The Chameleons Don't Fall Up the Down Escalator and neither does Joy Division.

  • tus putas mamadas

que pendejo eres, aprende a respetar a los amos de la musioca hijo de puta

  • Psieprasiam, się zaciągne..

  • you're a dick head, mate

  • okay first off, sorry if i offend anyone and second, don't always take yourselves so seriously.

This is good, I mean they were (and in many ways are) a good band, but that doesn't mean you have to take everything surrounding them seriously. Its funny because its so bizarre and random, and it almost 'works' because of the black and white, ect., the point is though. Take it for what it is, funny, and don't act like everything has to be serious.

  • I think it's funny, but if you have to explain to everyone how funny it is you've proven how lame it is.

  • not necessarily so, maybe if they understand the 'genre' of humor that this is supposed to be, they can appreciate it for being funny in that genre.

  • you fucking clown fuck off u weirdo what shite r u into u desecrating bastard why put jazz to a respected group like this u fucking creep must be bent fuck off.

  • this is funny, i love and respect joy division, but you gotta think they'd have a laugh at this too. very funny, dont worry about the negative comments.

  • PRICK,ED IN

  • I know JD fans can be overtly gloomy, whiny little shits, but man. Some people need to shed the excessive fanboy attitude and lighten up.

  • this is beautiful. takes some balls to blaspheme JD. well done.

  • go play with yerself elsewhere . . .

  • LOL This is so wrong.

  • Brilliant. Really, brilliant. I'd never had thought of connecting Charleston Jazz with brass instruments with an English new wave band from the 70's. This is truly a posting of a genuine creative mind. Ian Curtis would have fallen off his chair laughing and give this fellow a big pat on the back. A BIG pat on the back. It might break his back, but it wouldn't harm anyone, would it?

  • @Hwral he wasnt able to laugh, even smile, thats a luxury not everyone has

  • @0mgwtfbbq21 That's a load of crap. The other band members say he was, most of the time, happy-go-lucky and up for a laugh. This 'Miserable bastard' image is wrong

  • respect!

  • Are you guys fucking serious?

Stop being such pissy little girls, its not as if you knew ian personally.

I myself am one of the die-hard joy division fans and I think its pretty funny.

  • its all a bit of fun

  • RIDICULE et inutile

  • Why the negative attitude? If you don't like the music, well that's fine. But why expend

the energy ? Ian Curtis was a pop genius, just

like Bowie, Morrissey and Marr, Peter Gabriel,

Robert Fripp, David Gilmour etc. Do you think

your aesthetics exceed those of Anton Corbijn

or Paul Stump? You are stupid, tasteless too.

  • o dear

  • bloddy fuckin iddiot!!!

  • rofl

  • epic win.

  • ROFLMAO

  • if you dont want people commenting on your comments, then dont fucking comment on the video. oh wow, you're fucking clueless.

  • twat

  • i respect joy division; but this is still a laugh

  • U wankers

  • He killed himself so he isn't open for satire?

  • He never said that Josh. He just isn't open minded enough to see the humor in this.

  • Then why did he bring up the fact he killed himself?

  • To try and see how many people would feel bad for Ian Curtis. Or maybe to state the obvious.

  • too soon?

  • I don't know of many 23 year olds that made such an impact that 31 years later, someone is spoofing you on youtube.

    Interesting...

  • its a heresy, but smart. ha.

  • hahahahah this is one of the funniest thing iv seen on youtube ur a funny bastard

  • bela merda...vale pelo humor negro.

  • You have no respect assmunch

  • you suck and your mom sucked my dick yesterday

    Beurk, Beurk, Beurk

Vive Joy Division et Paix à Ian Curtis !

  • Ian Curtis, what a guy :D

  • Best. Dancer. EVER.

  • blödmann

  • mbdan lol

  • idiot |

  • which album is this JD song off of?

  • Finally, I'm not a goth and don't wallow in self-pity but, quite apart from the content of their lyrics, Ian's story is an extremely tragic one that has affected many. Get a sense of perspective!

  • And don't give me that s**t about 'lighten up'. I've got a good sense of humour but to equate your sense of humour with that of the band is another cheap get-out-clause from indulging in a sick act of schadenfreude. Yeah, Ian's dancing's funny when you're a kid and you see it for the first time but adults who really appreciate what the band did for the music scene tend to show more respect. They leave it to a one-liner.

  • CRYYYYYYYY!!!!

lol. some people take things way too seriously. i love how you're quick to point out the fact that you're not a goth when nobody even asked you. that's way funnier than this video.

my advice to you would be to sort it out and follow in the footsteps of ian. better yet, post the ordeal on youtube so i can reupload it with the benny hill end credit music.

sort it out, stephen. quit crying and go back to playing oblivion, you lonely sod. thanks.

  • 5) Some of my best friends are epileptics.

    6) You should try World of Warcraft.

    7) I can be passive aggressive, too.

  • Some of these lot must hate to actually hear Joy Division interviews, such as on 'Let The Movie Begin' - to find that their 'God' Ian Curtis liked a laugh. Get over it.

  • eres un vergante

  • he he he

  • thanks "lydonandcurtis" for the info, thats one of my favorite performances ever, nice username as well, cheers

  • ian was influnced by reggea and dubz but im not sure about jazz

  • what is the actual song they are performing here? this is brilliant footage.

  • The song is 'She's Lost Control' from a t.v performance in Sept '79

  • nob

  • First time I've laughed in weeks. Cheers.

  • lol stupid but fun

  • hahaha, this is amazing.

  • I'm as big a Joy Division fan as anyone, but this is fuck*ng genius. Some of you tossers need to lighten up.

  • wanker

  • You're a wanker mate

  • Inspired!

  • In poor taste.

  • Genius

  • Yeah be positiv

  • still my favorite dancer

  • Wot have you done.

    Frick frack,shame on you.

  • Fucking waiste of time.........

  • Hahaha, almost as funny as New Order!

  • hahaha good call

  • that's more swing than jazz...

  • the lightest moment jd has ever been in

  • whoohaaah!!! I love Joy Division and I love this movie! :-)

  • It's stupid, but it made me laugh for a second there. And btw, this guy is not making fun of JD, so get over it and try to have a laugh once in a while...

  • HA!

    good job.

  • fuck off! not funny! they're abserloute legends!

  • I laffed my ass off....funny shit right there.

  • do the chicken dance! yeah!

  • du karalho

    maior sarro.

  • I am a jd fan i thought how stupid at first

But then I was sitting back thinking if I was in a room with ian and JD and this was played to them in 1979 they would have all rolled on the ground luaghing .

  • most likely true that.

  • hehhe send in the clowns

  • not funny at all

  • heh that was funny, what was the original song?

  • coolest shit ever!

  • TO THE ONE THAT MADE THIS SHIT:

yOU DON´T HAVE RESPECT FOR THIS GREAT SINGER AND GREAT BAND, SO I THINK YOU ARE A SON OF A BITCH!!

  • Booooooring.

Ian had a sense of humour as well you know. Get your head out of the myth and read about the 'REAL' Ian.

  • Ian would have loved it! 20's jazz and JD, my, my. People, see the spirit of JD come through all music!

  • excellent song. hooky shold get a trumpet.

  • This is long overdue, as 20s Jazz was a huge influence on Ian's work. There were even plans to play "Minnie the Moocher" on the band's first American tour. Sadly shelved, of course, but we can only imagine the heights this Calloway-Curtis cross-pollination might have reached.

  • NO WAY!!! Lovin' it........

  • Very funny and I' a JD fan. Nice one

  • ha, oh man, mean spirited? no, hilarious timing
