  • It's official... I'm moving to Switzerland.

  • This was my favorite food growing up! I might make some tomorrow. It's been ages since I've made Raclette.

  • That looks sooo delicious :)

  • I normally do it totally old-school, but this looks good too.

  • it's not the real raclette...

  • I am so hungry right now @_@

  • I think typical is a bit off here...

When ever I go back I get to eat this once and they only make it because i'm there visiting

  • mhhh raclette, chämmet doch alli uf grechu ind walliserstuba chu Raclette ässu.

  • This is NOT a raclette ! This is a "raclonette" !!!

(A real raclette is not made with small slices of cheese but with a big piece of cheese (half a cheese) and a special machine!

  • @juanmartin0041 Sorry but in Switzerland, this is called Raclette too. I don't know where you are from but all my friends call this Raclette.

  • @TheThirdShift Yes, some swiss people call it raclette too, but it is a raclonette in fact. I'm from Valais, the "canton" where raclette come from and there is a big difference between the two sorts. ;-)

In Valais, we make the cheese with our cows (the Hérens breed) and we eat the raclette with half a cheese heated with fire, not always with electric machine.

Sorry if I was a bit aggressive: it's just that we are proud of the real raclette. ;-)

  • I've never seen Raclette done this way before! I usually have half a wheel of cheese, they heat the flat part, and scrape it onto your plate! But this way seems way easier and not so messy! Yum.

  • Looks yummy :D But I don't have the grill thing x.o Or else I would totally make it cx

  • Looks good but doesnt look filling.

  • @MrChannel5news

If you can eat more than 6 "cheese", pay you 50 Bucks. Its filling like hell :D

  • @ScheisseBernd

lol have never tried it, thats why i said it doesnt "look" filling.

  • Aaaawwwww I LOVE raclette!!!!!!!

  • in the original swiss raclette you only yous the cheese and bread ore potatoes.

Nothing on the top and no fruits ore vegetables. But I cant eat it only with cheese, i need other things too. I`m 100% swiss but i don`t like cheese. ;)

  • Emmm... raclette is very easy and tasty. We use some mushrooms over the heating plate also chicken and beef.

  • Nom! I had that when I went on a skiing holiday in Swutzerland, and it was amazing!

  • That looks so nice o:

  • Hardest thing to find here in the states is some good mustard... If it doesn't make you cry a little, it's not real mustard. ;) (I'm from Geneva)

  • To find a raclette grill made for the US market please visit RacletteCorner

  • @TheThirdShift: How long have you stayed in Switzerland? Do you have Swiss relatives? Because you say things like Rrrraclette and in the other Videos you pronounce the Names of different things exactly right =) I think you're making a good job for us Swiss people to talk about our country! Thanks alot =)

  • @ElPlaceboEffect I am both Swiss and Canadian nationality

  • its a good meal, but its so annoying to clean up xDD

  • Looks so yummy!

  • no meat? we always do that on the grill

  • Hmm. I went on exchange to France when I was in high school, and we had something very similar (maybe the same?) at a dinner party one night. I always wondered if that was a traditional meal or something our hosts concocted. In any case, it was very memorable, and one of the best meals I had over there.

  • krn bbq. swiss version

  • I love Raclette. It's pretty popular in Germany as well. :)

  • Cheesy potatoes. Looks yummy! What do you put on the tomato salad? That looks good too.

  • yam yam looks so yammy

  • Yummy! This makes me soooooo hungry.

  • Swiss food is waaaaaaaaaaay better than American food of course thats my opinion.

  • J'ADORE LES RACLETTES :D Om nom nom <3 + cheese is omg divine! :)

  • no olive oil, no garlic, no seafood, no tomatoes, no feta cheese.

The swiss might be wealthy but in Greece and Italy the food is much better.

  • @dopamine83

Feta cheese and garlic are grosse! I agree though that the Italians have great food, not the greeks though.

  • @Airox2009 I'm sorry but if you don't like garlic and feta we can't be friends...lol.

Greek food is OK but tell me what the specialty is in your country. I don't think (Netherland, right?) are that famous for their gastronomy.

  • @dopamine83

There is so much good swiss food around, too much to list ;-)! Raclette, Bünder Fleisch, Engadiner Nusstorte etc. I`m sure the Greeks have good food too but I`m just not a fan of garlic and sheep/goat cheese ;-).

  • Nice!

  • Ahhh, it makes me want to eat one!! I love to live in switzerland just for the raclette and fondue xDD Well not only that, but you know what i mean ^^

  • ahh this brings back memories of when I went to visit my cousins in Switzerland. It was a fun meal lol back then the word raclette just made me laugh, god knows why!! think it was the way my cousins said it

  • But the Paprika is missing!

  • aaah thats much better than make up videos :)

  • really good but you missed two things......

    1. Put the molten Cheese on a slice of Bread is actually how you eat it as well

    2. You can use the grill to make delicous things like pork medaillons with molten cheese, just use the grill to cook some pork.

Even better Grill Bacon, put that on bread, make potato slices on top of it, molten cheese on top and then put some pepper on top.

    Damm i got hungry....

  • what brand is your grill? it looks nice :) i love cheese, any kind :D

  • 0:07 what was that sound??

  • Aaah, Aromat :D

  • What a difference between North American and European meals. In NA, we have meat cooked in fat taking up 3/4 of our plate and the final 1/4 will be occupied by a vegetable if you're feeling "healthy". In Europe, it's the opposite. This plate was 3/4 occupied by specially prepared fruits/vegetables and the 1/4 by the show-stopper fatter food. Both cultures leave the table satisfied but who do you think consumes more calories on average?

  • @Paxx23 not always though. Maybe, in more 'fancy/good' european nations like swiss, france, germany or whatnot, this is so, however, in spain, it's exactly like North america XD

    Chunk-o meat + potatoes = meal

  • @Paxx23

Update: The 1/4 portion of the North American plate occupied by vegetables has now been overtaken by French Fries... the other healthy vegetable. Wash it all down with soft drink, followed by some medication to stop the inevitable indigestion/heartburn/headache because you've consumed too much fat, sugar, and/or salt.

  • @Paxx23 that's fine! as long as we wash it all down diet soft drinks. diet dr. pepper tastes almost like the regular dr. pepper. ^^

  • @Paxx23 It has nothing to do with refinement. In Europe a kilogram of beef can cost 50$ - no wonder we eat so litlle of it. Although I have to admit that this dish looks delish!

  • im vegetarian.

if there wouldn't be the meat i would loooooovvvve it.

my favourite thing in the world is cheese

  • @23allinone

Normally you don`t eat meat with raclette. Just potatoes, cheese, pickles etc.

  • @Airox2009 thnx for letting me know

  • Wow I've not had raclette in years! We went through a phase ago of having raclette a lot in the nineties and I think we just got sick of it and just never went back. Ours was round and had little triangular pans. I should see if it's still kicking about in the cupboards somewhere. Thanks for the blast from the past! :)

  • YUM-o!

  • I love this channel of yours!! It is so interesting and this looks so fresh and yummy!!! xoxo

  • Oh I love raclette :) i'm french ;)

  • @Apn9a from france or quebec (canada)?? I'm from quebec

  • This was interesting...can you do more Swiss cooking? :)

  • im hungry now

  • @Msshay321 lol me 2 :)

  • Is Raclette the name of the cheese or the name of the dish itself? Looks really good though, I wonder if there is a Raclette grill dealer in the US XP

  • any specialty cooking store will carry grills like this your best bet though is probably online. When I looked them up they seemed to run from about 30-100 bucks.

  • cool! this was really interesting!

  • I learned something new about Swiss culinary =) Please make more of this cultural video, I love it!!! Thanks, Julia!

  • Cool video. Please make more of these cooking/food videos.

  • yummy

  • NOW THAT LOOKS YUMMY! Never seen a grill like that before. Is there a special name for it?

  • It's called a Raclette Grill here lol

  • zeig doch mal deinen freund:D

ich liebe raclette! könnt ich den ganze tag essen :P

  • we eat raclette in denmark too, i love it

  • now this is nice showing us what foods u have in switzerland. I actually thought cheese was a big thing there but never knew any dishes so thanks. Keep these vids up showing your countries traditions and culture love it! Its a nice variety than just makeup. Take care ~

  • Miammmmmm^^

il love the way U say raclette!! with the german accent!!! ^^ really proud to have a swiss girl doing thoses beautiful videos!!
