This is also well known and popular in Germany, looks interesting. I lived in Japan for several years...they also have a take on this which is quite fun and yummy a type of Hibachi. I really enjoy how diverse you are, I love trying out foods from all over the world, maybe you can share some Swiss recipes with us.
@TheThirdShift Yes, some swiss people call it raclette too, but it is a raclonette in fact. I'm from Valais, the "canton" where raclette come from and there is a big difference between the two sorts. ;-)
In Valais, we make the cheese with our cows (the Hérens breed) and we eat the raclette with half a cheese heated with fire, not always with electric machine.
Sorry if I was a bit aggressive: it's just that we are proud of the real raclette. ;-)
I've never seen Raclette done this way before! I usually have half a wheel of cheese, they heat the flat part, and scrape it onto your plate! But this way seems way easier and not so messy! Yum.
in the original swiss raclette you only yous the cheese and bread ore potatoes.
Nothing on the top and no fruits ore vegetables. But I cant eat it only with cheese, i need other things too. I`m 100% swiss but i don`t like cheese. ;)
@TheThirdShift: How long have you stayed in Switzerland? Do you have Swiss relatives? Because you say things like Rrrraclette and in the other Videos you pronounce the Names of different things exactly right =) I think you're making a good job for us Swiss people to talk about our country! Thanks alot =)
Hmm. I went on exchange to France when I was in high school, and we had something very similar (maybe the same?) at a dinner party one night. I always wondered if that was a traditional meal or something our hosts concocted. In any case, it was very memorable, and one of the best meals I had over there.

I love Raclette grills. Tried it for the first time when I was about 10. Some friends from Germany had brought theirs with them, on their vacation. They taught us to put veg on the pan first, and the top with a little cheese. Potatoes, salad and meat on the side :)

now this is nice showing us what foods u have in switzerland. I actually thought cheese was a big thing there but never knew any dishes so thanks. Keep these vids up showing your countries traditions and culture love it! Its a nice variety than just makeup. Take care ~

really good but you missed two things......
1. Put the molten Cheese on a slice of Bread is actually how you eat it as well
2. You can use the grill to make delicous things like pork medaillons with molten cheese, just use the grill to cook some pork.
Even better Grill Bacon, put that on bread, make potato slices on top of it, molten cheese on top and then put some pepper on top.
Damm i got hungry....
