My impression for this guitar, from all the videos i've seen on youtube is that its muddy and dirty...not the case in 10% of the videos where the guitar sounds excellent, solid, not that bassy...But how this guitar actually sounds in real? Can you get the good tone out of it if you dont have a valve amp, using transistor-solid amp? Can you make it sound good if you have a good experience in setting amps? I cant find this guitar in my town and check her out and see how she really actually sounds.
No its beautiful! I assume you may have been thinkin christmas, and if so my comment is too late...But I got this for christmas and it's variety of sound it astounding. Sure, it's a darker sounding guitar, but most of these youtube videos just use the lower pickup. messing around with the neck pickup and you can get some nice sounds!
@MadSpaceCow Aha, okay. As far as i know, neck pickup will always give you extra bass and since in this case i don't want it, your argument is invalid.
I was wondering I have the same guitar but different finish, and the pickup caps look like someone has been rubbing their fingers all over them. I've tried to wipe the marks off but they're still there. Is this normal or do I need to replace these pickups?
Nice sound. I wonder why no one records himself playing ska on les pauls. If you know ska stuff i would be very thankful to you if you do some ska rhythms.
what´s the name of that great riff 4.02-4.32 ? I know that song but i´ve forgot that name.now I try to play it with my epiphone les paul standard. dude you did a great job.which amp did you use?before i forget it...your sound is awesome!
@SH4RK136 well mate i think u should try them both, i have a korina explorer , but i want to get a les paul aha i think they feel better standing up with , but thats me :)
Just a question, whats the full name of this epiphone LP? cause the les paul standards I see all have scratchpads but i like yours without t he scratch pad =)
@XFactor1011 G-strings usually detune faster than other strings, but if you learn to string the guitar well, get some good strings (go for ernie ball 0.10 slinkys if you're unsure) and put white ceramic lube on the bridge saddles, nut, and tuners you can minimize this.
@XFactor1011 go to your local music store and ask them to install a bone nut. it improves tuning problems and improves tone as well. best 15 bucks ever spent
@XFactor1011 I had a epiphone standard for 5 years and it always happened. Then i has an a £50 epihone SG 100 and it happened all the time. Traded up to a gibson faded SG. Same happened. I now have a beat up les paul studio and same happens. It is a failing common to most guitars without a locking nut. Also, It's the string you hit as heavy as the thick E when playing power chords. Also the one you bend most so it stands to reason it's the one that'll need re-tuning the most :)

@BloodCr0ss Les Paul Demos always include blues, jazz, rock, and country because that's what the guitar is intended for. You could use it for metal, but you'd be better off with something if you're a metalhead.
I have a Epiphone Les Paul Classic with cherry sunburst and a Marshall reverb 15 wattl. IT'S AWESOME!!!!. les paul and marshall is the best combination.
cool, for christmas (as a gift to myself lol) im buying a Epiphone Les Paul Standard Vintage Sunburst along with a Line 6 spider IV 15 watt....its gonna be AWESOME...
Yeah, seriously - Line 6 amps suck with Les Pauls. Buy something else! Personally, I have a Marshall and I think they're the best for LPs, but you just have to shop around and see what's right for you.
@TrippyTheShroom Let me know how it sounds..I've got my eye on the same guitar but I don't know if Ive progressed enough to justify moving up from my Epi Spec.ll I also like the Standard Mahoghany
Sorry I did not mean to post all the other info on your thread.
But now that I am here, they are flat no arch. I do have a Plaintop it does have a little arch to it. I would recommend the Plaintop the finish is awsome better in must see in person to appreciate(Honeyburst). Trust me!
If you get the standard I think it comes in only black I may be wrong.
epiphones sound almost as good as gibsons, but they are not as well built. You see Gibsons that are 50 years plus and still working, but many epiphones start to have problems after a few years. mainly the pots and input jack. If you switch out a few things in them for better parts they will probably last you a lifetime. If you buy an epiphone LP and spend maybe 300 extra dollars you have a perfect gibson quality LP, which is good since Gib Lp's still cost 2 or three times that.
Check ebay, get a plain top. The only difference b/n a plus top and a plain top is the paint job. I got a used standard with 2 burstbucker pros (like $100 each new) and a hardshell case for a total of $330 if you count the shipping. I have tried it side by side with gibsons and I can not tell a difference.
Oh! So it's not like one's better, it comes down to preference. So then I made the right choice with the plain top cause it's just as bright as I like it!
gonna get this guitar in about a week...do you suggest I keep the pickups it has or get new ones...i was thinking of getting the seymour duncan hot rod set
