  • Thanks, AnonOutreach. Yes, a lawyer can legally file a DMCA complaint on behalf of a client. The way the DMCA reads, however, if you want to file a counternotice to defeat a complaint, you must sign YOUR OWN name and give up your address. There is nothing in the DMCA that says a lawyer can sign a counterclaim on your behalf. This is why I think the DMCA is unconstitutional. It does not allow you to stick up for your rights while remaining anonymous.

  • AnonOutreach, I saw some videos on YT once about an attempt to pass a Canadian version of the DMCA, but I think it was defeated. Sorry, I don't know that much about what happened in Canada. Theoretically, an anonymous defendant may remain anonymous unless the Plaintiff shows prima facie evidence that the defendant actually did commit a crime or a a civil offense. But if the judge is convinced that the defendant probably did something wrong, he can pierce that anonymity.
