Kobe didn't do well this series for several reasons. First Gary Payton got smoked by Billups. Not only that his defense would cause Kobe to go out to help and contain Billups, meaning Kobe had to expend more energy on defense. Shaq's screen and roll defense SUCKS even now, did you not see that overtime loss to the Grizzlies, that's what I'm talking about. Why do you think they got rid of Shaq and decided to stay with Kobe. Tayshaun Prince 6'9 on 6'6 guard. Worked against Magic in 91 (Pippen).

I really don't want to take anything away from the Detroit Pistons, but i think that the reason they haven't been captivating this era is because of Dumars. He never brought in any new talent. That's the reason why I think they couldn't win 5 championships.
lol I'm a huge Pistons fan even know. But the only reason they held opponents below 70 was because they only scored like 72. So they won like 70 - 68 not really blowouts just both teams scored less. So the Pistons basically have a very slow game tempo

Was you guys have game 2 up of this series? That was a great game, game 4 was too, as was game 1....... htis whole series was great actually, best one in quite a while up to that point (2003 series was prtty good spurs/nets, mavs/heat 06 was unbelievable, 05 spurs/pistons was good, 08 was awesome celts/lakers.... before that there wasnt any good one besides a decent 2000 laker/pacers and the last awesome one before that was 97 jazz/bulls)

I have no idea looking back on it. Maybe it was because they wanted to get back on top and those 2 were available. It doesn't matter now though because the Lakers are contenders again.
A big reason was because he became complacent (contract with Chicago) and his ego overtook his playing.
The guy built his career as a hard-working defensive stopper who flew under the radar. But the reality was, his game was horribly one-sided. But in his prime, he was one of the best defensive players I've ever seen. Reminded me so much of Dennis Rodman.

I really don't want to take anything away from the Detroit Pistons, but i think that the reason they haven't been captivating this era is because of Dumars. He never brought in any new talent. That's the reason why I think they couldn't win 5 championships.

lol I'm a huge Pistons fan even know. But the only reason they held opponents below 70 was because they only scored like 72. So they won like 70 - 68 not really blowouts just both teams scored less. So the Pistons basically have a very slow game tempo

@andrewqyoukhanna Great, great defense, but still, this was the NBA in the 2000's, post further expansion in '89, which ALWAYS weakens any sports league. There were so many lousy teams in the East, which Detroit played mostly against.

Was you guys have game 2 up of this series? That was a great game, game 4 was too, as was game 1....... htis whole series was great actually, best one in quite a while up to that point (2003 series was prtty good spurs/nets, mavs/heat 06 was unbelievable, 05 spurs/pistons was good, 08 was awesome celts/lakers.... before that there wasnt any good one besides a decent 2000 laker/pacers and the last awesome one before that was 97 jazz/bulls)

A big reason was because he became complacent (contract with Chicago) and his ego overtook his playing.
The guy built his career as a hard-working defensive stopper who flew under the radar. But the reality was, his game was horribly one-sided. But in his prime, he was one of the best defensive players I've ever seen. Reminded me so much of Dennis Rodman.

Yea, but Rodman was still a smart player. he did the small things that made a difference.
And as far as I can see, I've never really seen Wallace hussle. Rodman at 35-36 was hussling up and down the court like a rookie.
