  • I'm learning bass guitar and I can tell you from first hand experience that Benjamin Orr was an amazing guitar player! What he is playing on this song and singing lead is crazy hard!

    You are so missed Ben!

  • this version is faster

  • these guys were way ahead of their time

  • they were Great!!!!

  • Bill Gates on Keys ladies and gentleman!!!!

  • they sound really good here.. too bad rick's guitar drops out right at the chorus.. it would have been perfect if the rhythm guitar was louder.

  • they're killing here, total pros.

  • One of the greatest bands ever!

  • dunno so much bout attractive, but this is one of the first songs i kan remember that the drummer drops back and plays a totally backward version of the beat of the song. awesome drummer david robinson

  • @1cooltoad briill

  • @1cooltoad Your grammar makes me want punch a baby.

  • @tristangeorgethomas go 4 it dumass

  • @tristangeorgethomas i want punch no babies thanks

  • This is bad ass! Where can I find this on dvd?!?

  • very nice...

  • madre mia me encanta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this song has a totally different sound when it was out in the late 70s compared to the early 80s. I guess It was more guitar-oriented at first, then they changed it to the new style of the early 80s with more synth. both ways sound great though!!

  • You Go Benjamin! LOVE YOU!!!!

  • i seen the cars live at the philadelphia spectrum front row in 1980 great show elliot easton great left handed guitar player

  • I would die If I saw the Cars live. Cars and THE NEW CARS will rule forever....

  • Cameron Diaz does have an uncanny resemblance to Benjamin Orr,but he is much more perfect and much much more beautiful than her!!..If a man can be called flawlessly beautiful and handsome, then Benjamin Orr is that man.:))) Jude Law? He has nothing in common with Benjamin let alone act in a movie as Benjamin Orr!!!

  • I could listen to this song all day and look at Benjamin Orr all day and NIGHT.

  • @kathyuk28 me too

  • Someone cast Jude Law as Ben Orr and make The Cars movie already!

  • @Antovico OMG..now you just ruined Ben Orr for me. LOL JUDE LAW? I admit, I see a resemblance, but Jude Law's personality could never be compared to Benny's....Benny was so sweet.

  • I requested this song on the radio today...yeah.

  • ...SONG DAT REMIMDS ME OF JONES BIGOLDMAN...WISH WE CAN BE FRENZ AGAIN MELL IM BOX ME ON TXT MT AT 3240390...DATS MY CELL....N ID LIKE TO BE YER FEN COM ON ITS BEEN 3 N A HALF MONTHS ..WATS UR FB NAME...

  • Elliot Easton never got the credit he deserved for being such a super rocking guitarist.

I loved loved loved this group. Where is the music made by adults these days?

Isn't it about time for music to come back to great guitar hooks and just straight rockin' like these guys?

  • I saw them Live in 1980, Front Row. They were THE BEST! I first heard their album while on vacation in Colorado in '78 and bought the record there in case I couldn't get it at home. Very unique and ahead of their time.

  • WoW Rick is looking geekier than Gary Numan !

  • great band. much respect for these guys. what a shame that they're so underrated

  • This is just what I needed

  • I love this audio, it feels like it would if I was actually there.

  • I thought the Cars were in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? WTF? They should be!!!

  • 2:09, Suprise Ric!

  • This is live stuff.....incredible back in "the day". I know several Boston producers who would have killed to sign these guys. God they were hot and well practiced back then.

  • Frickin fantastic & I wore out the vinyl LP I had of the Cars. Right after this song ends I keep hearing, (guitar intro) Life's the same, I'm moving in Stereo... Life's the same, except for my Shoes... Life's the same, I'm shaking like Tremmmmellllo?? Lifes the same, It's all inside you.......... (synth lic) great stuff

  • Lovin this song. Classic.

  • The Cars should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

  • @ladybluluv Yes they deserve to be in there! I totally agree!

  • @ladybluluv They deserve to be in there. I totally agree.

  • are you like me? bouncing around to all the live cars performances on you tube from 78-79? pretty cool huh

  • @acmarc46 just like you...coooool

  • @acmarc46 I am doing the same thing.

  • I am liking this a lot --thanks -for wasting all my time..hit the strings with all my fingers

  • Elliot Easton, master technician. Sweet Jesus! I Love that guy!!

  • only thing missing is a flying v

  • I once auditioned for a band that so idolized the Cars that their records were physically present at their feet while playing. It was like "bring us luck".

  • aaah, that was just what I needed.

  • One can definitely see why Brian Orr is hot and Rick is not.

  • @TheCanadianSpear Yeah that's why he only married the hottest girl on the planet.

  • @TheCanadianSpear you mean Ben (or Benjamin) Orr.....RIP

  • One of the best pop rock songs for sure. Has to be in the top 10.

  • saw the cars on the door to door tour it was right on

  • now that's what i call TIGHT playing as BWR784 pointed out!!

  • @TA Wow, I wish I could have heard how good The Cars would have been w/o Ric. Oh wait, I can listen to the genius of The New Cars as they sing music by The Cars. Whether it's EMI or Elektra, The Beatles or The Cars, the success of a band is based on contributions by the band as a whole and however a producer decides to trick things up. Go listen to some Justin Bieber and think about how money influences performers, their music, and their popularity.

  • @IanTruleyPF87 I don't disagree with your comment generally speaking, and I do agree that the New Cars sound great. But in the case of Ric Ocasek, the songs are all his, and there's something about the irony, humor, double entendres and quirkiness of the songs that defined The Cars as The Cars. Without Ric, at least originally, they would have been a completely different entity, one we can't even imagine.

  • Rock out.!....Awesome video and sound! I could rock out forever,...listening to The Cars!! WIll you sing personally to me in heaven, Ben?

  • The sound quality is amazing for an early performance. You can clearly hear the contribution made by each band member.

  • Now that is friggin' ROCK & ROLL!!!!

  • i remember w/ my bf enjoy that music...

  • One of the best performances of this song in youtube, very nice indeed!! Lets go CArsssssssssssssss

  • i didn't know they had a different singer back in the day. Thought it was always Rick. I learned something new today.

  • @jetsrush01 Meanwhile, Ocasic did not write all the songs.

Besides, a band without him would have written and recorded better songs.

  • Ric Ocasic gets in the way. He can't play guitar. He held this band back.

  • @TruthAxe

sorry, friend ....but ur absolutely fuLL of SHIT !

    Let's see what u got ??

denying Ric Ocasek's contribution to the Cars is like denying

George Harrison's contribution to the fucking BeatLes....

    R u mad, mate ??

  • You amuse, ZebZachary.

Stop projecting. Go take a dump to clear out the shit in you.

The Beatles? EMI could have picked any four guys. George Martin made the sound, putting down exactly what notes and chords would get played and what choruses would get sung.

The Beatles are the most overhyped band in music history.

I haven't denied Ocasek's contribution to this band. I have posited that a better band could have been made from Easton and Orr, with Orr on vocals full-time.

  • @TruthAxe

pLease forgive me, O wise one that knoweth

    ALL !!

ur a joke....but i'm not going to quibbLe with you.

    a. ur not worth it

    b. i don't have time

    peace

  • You amuse, ZebZachary. Again!

You have already quibbled with me, not once, but twice! LMFAO.

  • @TruthAxe the beatles rule! any more bands to put on your shit list? besides led zeppelin, godz of rock? fag. an amusing fag.

  • I love all these old Cars songs

  • I kinda lose my mind...mwah

  • benjamin orr looks like jude law but with more hair

  • I got a nice long lingering look and smile from him once. My heart still pounds when I think of it.

I will treasure that memory forever....

  • If you're referring to Bejamin Orr.

It's a shame musicians like him pass early, at an age of 53. Then you get other musicians who are severe drug users past that age and they are still living.

  • @blackpieceofwhite Yep, I'm referring to Benjamin.

It IS a shame, i agree. Many of the good ones have to leave early : (

  • Wow, even live - the are so tight. Great video. Very cool getting to watch Ben play bass and sing. I saw him live in 1999 at a small venue with his band Orr in Boston about a year before he passed. He was just hanging out by the stage before his band came on. I was not 10 feet away - I still kick myself for not walking over and saying hello.

  • you were that close ? lucky you !

  • Yeah, it's fun watching Hawkes doing all that cool stuff to 'I'm in Touch with Your World'.

I have the DVD and after one song you can hear the beginning of 'Moving in Stereo' (which has always been one of my favs), but then it wasn't played....unless they did play it, but was cut out for the DVD. Would love to have seen and heard that one too from that show.

  • and right after this song is....."I'm in touch with your world" on the album. That's a cool song.

  • ohh yeahhh baby!!! God that sound is great!!! Love the into drum fill on the album. It's a signature (but they didn't do it on this video which sucks).

  • Jesus Christ this is sooo FUCKING PERFECT!!!

  • AMAZING! ONE OF MY FAVS!

  • I have this DVD and found the audlence's lack of excitement for this fantastic group shocking! My word....if I had been so close to Benny..;-)

  • @katie180574 get the DVD everyone!! It''s incredible!!!!

  • Most definitely punk flavored rock....... I will always love this song.

  • I can't stop moving when I here their songs. You can't help but groove to it and it's NOT disco ..lol..it's ROCK!!!! Unique band!

  • nope, this was Musikladen in Germany.

  • Im sure this was the show Fridays

  • Ben is just too perfect here. LOVE IT!!!

  • I don't mind you coming here

    And drinking all my beer

'Cause when you're standing oh so near

I stare right at your rear

It's not the tube top that you wear

    It's not your purple underwear

I don't mind you coming here

    Your're so fucking fine

  • Way more women, I would guess! The groupies would have been chasing beautiful Ben, for sure.........

  • i bet benj used to get more women then rick........lol

  • ah i love cars...this is actually the very first song i actually remember hearing this when i was 3 in my dads 56. the cars is the best!

  • A band that has the most attractive guy in rock and the weirdest looking guy in rock must be special

  • Beauty and the Freak

  • @MisterDensity

    It's normal for the 80's!

  • @MisterDensity

    Think Cheap Trick

  • Say what you want, The Cars were original and fun.

  • dude, cars are freaking awsome. this is by far my fav by them

  • out n out class.

  • Top Shelf

  • Was a big fan...when those first two albums came out. Ben Orr was great vocalist/frontman/bassist.

  • yes ben was awsome... band isnt the same. i cant listen to the new guy

  • I agree, cancer killed a great person and an even greater rock star. Rest In Peace Ben Orr.

  • This came on the radio today, and I have to say that I like this performance more than the studio version.

  • they are soooo awesome. thanks for posting!

  • oh yeah!!!!!!!!

  • Can you imagine witnessing that fucking shit live at that time... they KILL!

  • @spaceorbison Absolutely killer. I wish someone would invent a fucking time machine already.

  • For the most part, Orr was an under the radar Rock God.

  • The Cars are so baddass! I use to play this at the bar while I was shootin' billiards with a bunch of baddasses!

  • I used to play this over and over again on my ghetto in my girlfriends 69 Malibu since we didnt have a tape player...The Cars rule!

  • Wow, this is Ben too.

I must of really been high because I thought Rick O, sang everything but Drive.

    Luv you BEN O. R.I.P.

  • Benn ORR RIP, Miss you MUCH!

  • everything is wrapped up in perfect !

  • Beautiful Ben, sadly missed.

  • Damn, this is just awesome and just what I needed!!!!!!!!

  • jodó, el técnico de sonido debía ser nuevo.

  • the kb player looks like e.t.

  • Oh my, Benjamin looks absolutely yummmmmy in this performance! Nice one benny11.

  • Wow, what an awesome live performance. I've seen plenty of clips of this song, but this is clearly my favorite. Great visual perspective. It's amazing how you hear the contribution of each band member during the course of the song.

  • He reminds me Roger Taylor (Queen Drummer) with this hair.

    Beautiful Benjamin Orr. Love you.

  • los nuevos grupos no han decubierto la polvora

franz ferdinand mira hace 30 años ya se hacia esto

  • This is awesome! Anyone who only remembers the videos from MTV needs to see this live act. How many notes per second can a bass player play? Ben? We miss you man.

  • i swear if u put a long white haired wig on ric he would turn in to edgar winter seriously... just noticed it...

  • Fantastic Video! Ben was an absolute talent! So sad that the greatest are the first to go while the scum get to live long healthy lives! Rest in peace dear sweet Benjamin!!

  • Damn the cars were a fusion of different styles. Benn had The Sweet, Ric, a new wave Joey Ramone, Elliot the Cheap Trick look, Greg was pure New Wave and David was just t shirt Rock N Roll.

  • I wouldnt know to do w/myself if I looked even half as good as Ben Orr did,..what a ladykiller, shame he's gone,.. ~ T.Von.

  • f-ckin great!

  • QUE GUAPO ERA DE JOVEN Y QUE BIEN CANTA

  • RIP Ben Orr. Sadly missed... Never forgotten...

  • I rate this as The Cars' best live performance session. I wish they always sounded like this sharp. The sound is amazing. Instrumentally and vocally (where BenOrr stood out).

  • So Please me!

  • Ben makes me melt.

  • so, can you buy a complete video of this somewhere?

    Great!

  • yes you can

  • Totally gorgeous man with a gorgeous voice. The only drawback to this song is that I can't see those leather pants. ;) Yes indeed, he was the sexy one.

  • sheesh calm down! you'll get your panties all wet

  • I was perfectly calm and serious. What's the matter? No one ever said anything like that about you?

  • wastin' all my time!!!

  • kiks ass yeah! Luv it!!!!

  • Pure candy! oh

  • I have this version on an old VHS tape that I taped off of MTV, around 20 years ago, always

wondered where it was from, I must say this is my favorite version, absolutely rocks! Man,I love this band!

  • OMG! he knew he was sick in this video! OMG!

  • Well, if he could look well into the future he might've known.

He was an awesome singer, but I don't think he could see 18 to 20 years ahead, and see what would happen.

He had the bad luck of M. Landon. Plenty of money, but no cure...

  • hopper43..I think he knew he was sick..but maybe not THAT sick. If I could see 18 to 20 years in my future, it sure wouldn't be working in a Gift Shop! (For sure).

    Ben was brilliant!! UNIQUE!

  • Fine, be in denial if it makes you feel better about yourself..I was stating my opinion. I don't think he knew he was dying.I just think at that time he knew he was sick.My opinion only and you don't have to use curse words to get your point across.Very rude.

  • I have to agree with you. He couldn`t know about his sickness back then. Cause he found out that fact maybe 1 year before his death (2000). Sad...

BTW: Please, don`t use the rude words, although you have different opinion than the others...

  • Ben Orr was just GENIUS! period!

  • Purchased a copy of this concert from asda for £4.68p along with ben orr's The Lace cd brilliant.

  • Great video...Ben was also a great bass player...just watch his fingers ...

  • Awesome! Like this version! Wish I have a copy of this show!

  • let them brush your rocknroll hair!

  • cameron diaz, jude law, and ben orr could all def be related. beautiful

  • lol..true ghost.

another one was seeing clips from an old sci-fi tv series on youtube called UFO.

Laughed my ass off at seeing a short haired Benn Orr look alike as the star of the show

  • he was such a handsome man XD

    yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • he is so good looking here

  • Right at about 00:41 thru 00:043 = Can we say sexy and cute boys and girls? LOL

Actually the whole video is to be honest with ya!

Great song, great man! Miss him much!

  • NICE! A Classic.
